He's great with communication, and his estimate was right on point. I had some drainage work done at my house which trashed my entire irrigation system, so I needed to have it replaced, both in the front and back yard. The McKay crew did a bang up job of it. They came in on time and on budget. They had the whole system laid out and running within about two days. Then Sherman spent some time with me to make sure I knew how to operate the controllers. In fact, they do more than irrigation, and I will likely have them come back and put in some new plants and do some other work in my backyard. They did such a good job with the irrigation system that I have high confidence they will make quick work of the other jobs too. I strongly recommend them.

The sprinkler control panel did bot shut down the faulty sprinkler, so its likely a mechanical issue with the control valves in the backyard that failed open. I have no idea how to DIY this so I was lucky to find Ostwald. Yep, they are a 24/7 company and were able to comr out same day in a few hours. Darvin and his helper replaced my entire sprinkler control valve system, faulty sprinkler heads, and did some excavation to fix some leaky pipes. About 3 hours total - not a straightforward job since it also involved wiring and some backyard plumbing. I have an older house so they actually had to shutoff water to the house for a few hours. Not sure why the sprinkler system does not have a separate isolation valve. Maybe it does but its not obvious. Definitely recommend Ostwald Sprinkler Repair for quick turnarounds and responsive service, even on Sundays when most other sprinkler repair companies are closed.

Our previous irrigation system had leaks etc…read more During the site visit, to which Mike showed up drunk (which is fine, whatever), he mentioned that his workers would add irrigation to the pots, remove existing pipes, and bury the low-voltage electric wire which was going to be running along the pipes anyway. Mike canceled on the originally scheduled date once. Finally, Mike sent two guys to install the irrigation. They were fine and were happy to bury the electric wire when requested, but then later Mike came and rudely told me that that wasn't part of the spec, and that "these guys are stupid, if you ask them to wash your dishes they would do that too". I didn't appreciate the racist comment but let it go. But that was not all... there isn't much space between our home and the next one (think 12 inches or so), and he asked how we would get the siding repaired should we ever need to. I said I didn't know.. he said "maybe you can hire an Ethiopian to get in there, they're all thin because of the famine there". Truly WTF Anyway... judging the work itself - the installation seemed fine when it was done, but we later noticed and had to patch four leaks. I'm not sure if there are more. The piping they used, I was later told, was lower quality too. I'm not sure how long it'll last. I was unable to get competing quotes because we were short on time, but later I realized that his quote was a bit higher than others for the same work. He insisted I pay in cash, and so I did. I then spent literal WEEKS following up with him for an invoice (which I need for bookkeeping), and he kept blowing me off. He said things like "I had a family emergency", "I have 50 jobs this week", "I'm busy" and then simply stopped responding. He also said that it's just 2 minutes of work and that he would get to it... but he never did.

We set the construction date for February 19th which lasted until February 25th. Jesus, the foreman, was great at communicating the steps required for the build. He would often check in to make sure that we got the end product we desired and was receptive to feedback for the design. With their workmanship guarantee, we have nothing to worry about. I first met Humberto when I opened a Yelp project ticket in January. He was not only quick to respond, (he came over within an hour, on a Sunday), he also was transparent in his pricing and had great suggestions. I could tell he knew a lot about gardening. Humberto and Alejandro came in January for the first visit, and as was right for the season, they pruned all of the bushes, weeded the mulch and stone areas, and mowed the lawn. I liked them so much that first visit we made a plan for the next visit in the spring, which happened today! Humberto brought just the stone I wanted (he knew it by name when he saw it the first time), to refresh the old stone and also brought the mulch that we had talked about- both in the perfect quantity. Today they also mowed and fertilized the grass (the right time of year for that now), cleaned up all of my pots, put new plants in huge heavy ceramic pots, replanted some outlier succulents from the stone area, and did a thoughtful cleanup all around. He advised me about "sunny plants" and "shady plants" too, which was very useful. The yard is beaming with Springtime! Humberto is busy for a good reason, so plan for that, but a shiny well thought out garden is a joy.

I had called and made an appointment to have my sprinkler system back in working order . He tested the power at the main control unit checking for power and continuity. He went to each valve and checked for power finding and replacing the power solenoid that controls the valve. He went through and got each valve working. Also discovered leaking pipe causing low water pressure on that circuit. After about 3 plus hours had everything working like when it was first installed. Very happy with his service and price.
