He didn't charge me for his time, but did give me a quote to install a professional system as well as expand coverage to the entire back yard. His quote was reasonable / competitive, and I was lucky to get quickly scheduled. He and his crew came out and in a couple days were able to install a brand new Hunter system with sprayers and multiple drip lines. Despite having to trench through my yard, when they were done it looked as good as new. They took special care around existing landscaping and did not damage anything during the installation process. It's been a few months now, and the system is working great. Grass is green and plants are blooming. Sherman is easy to work with and super responsive. I'm extremely happy with the outcome and I'm sure you will be too.

For the past two years I was watering my lawn all the time, sometimes twice a day during Summer and whenever we vacationed or left home for a week I was always worried about the lawn dying and all the effort it would take to regrow. It started to become a chore rather than something enjoyable. We finally decided to get a Sprinkler System installed and so glad we found Jon. Communication was great right away with super fast replies on Yelp and I believe Jon even came the next day for an estimate. He finished the sprinkler system in less than a week which is what he quoted with excellent attention to detail and a very honest price. The complexity was we were doing concrete work at the time so there were two contractors at our house at the same time. He set me up with a 3 zone system, the front area is exposed to a lot of sun and I always struggled with keeping things growing there. The cool thing is the Rachio system he installed automatically chooses ideal times to water based on daily weather reports. You can see the "after" pictures which show my lawn is still nice and green despite the heat and now I get to water for pleasure instead of doing it as a task! We hired Mike to install irrigation in our backyard. Our previous irrigation system had leaks etc…read more During the site visit, to which Mike showed up drunk (which is fine, whatever), he mentioned that his workers would add irrigation to the pots, remove existing pipes, and bury the low-voltage electric wire which was going to be running along the pipes anyway. Mike canceled on the originally scheduled date once. Finally, Mike sent two guys to install the irrigation. They were fine and were happy to bury the electric wire when requested, but then later Mike came and rudely told me that that wasn't part of the spec, and that "these guys are stupid, if you ask them to wash your dishes they would do that too". I didn't appreciate the racist comment but let it go. But that was not all... there isn't much space between our home and the next one (think 12 inches or so), and he asked how we would get the siding repaired should we ever need to. I said I didn't know.. he said "maybe you can hire an Ethiopian to get in there, they're all thin because of the famine there". Truly WTF Anyway... judging the work itself - the installation seemed fine when it was done, but we later noticed and had to patch four leaks. I'm not sure if there are more. The piping they used, I was later told, was lower quality too. I'm not sure how long it'll last. I was unable to get competing quotes because we were short on time, but later I realized that his quote was a bit higher than others for the same work. He insisted I pay in cash, and so I did. I then spent literal WEEKS following up with him for an invoice (which I need for bookkeeping), and he kept blowing me off. He said things like "I had a family emergency", "I have 50 jobs this week", "I'm busy" and then simply stopped responding. He also said that it's just 2 minutes of work and that he would get to it... but he never did.

I first met Humberto when I opened a Yelp project ticket in January. He was not only quick to respond, (he came over within an hour, on a Sunday), he also was transparent in his pricing and had great suggestions. I could tell he knew a lot about gardening. Humberto and Alejandro came in January for the first visit, and as was right for the season, they pruned all of the bushes, weeded the mulch and stone areas, and mowed the lawn. I liked them so much that first visit we made a plan for the next visit in the spring, which happened today! Humberto brought just the stone I wanted (he knew it by name when he saw it the first time), to refresh the old stone and also brought the mulch that we had talked about- both in the perfect quantity. Today they also mowed and fertilized the grass (the right time of year for that now), cleaned up all of my pots, put new plants in huge heavy ceramic pots, replanted some outlier succulents from the stone area, and did a thoughtful cleanup all around. He advised me about "sunny plants" and "shady plants" too, which was very useful. The yard is beaming with Springtime! Humberto is busy for a good reason, so plan for that, but a shiny well thought out garden is a joy.
