I get giddy when I find little treasures such as this. I had originally bookmarked this little market because of their empanadas, but I found so much more. The market is small and cramped and packed to the gills with Latin American and Spanish goods. They have good looking produce, a nice big butchery, multiple freezers and refrigerators filled with specialty items that will make your brain work on overtime. The way the deli works for buying their prepared food is different from some. You must first place your order at the back counter. You will receive an itemized ticket which you must take up front to the cashier. Then, you return to the back to show your proof of purchase receipt and then you get your food, bagged and ready. The total wait for us was about 10 - 15 minutes, not bad. I get it, why they have to do it this way, but it is time consuming and inconvenient at best. We did get some empanadas. They are fried, not baked, so have an extra good crunch with every bite. There are two ground beef fillings, i.e. two different recipes. Three were the wonderful filling that has green olives (my favorite), and one that was described as spicy beef (that really was not all that spicy). Both were delicious, and their dough was flaky. This could easily become one of my favorite destinations for a reliable empanada. Besides the deli empanadas, there was a nice selection of empanada disc's (round pastry wrappers) in the freezer section if you are inclined to make and stuff them yourself, and frozen empanadas made by Goya in yet another freezer. I also convinced myself I needed to buy two tamales. One Guatemalan, the other Peruvian. These are sold frozen and are ordered at the deli counter. Haven't tried them yet, but I am excited because they are not so easy to find. Other products that caught my eye included a fascinating collection of sausages, chorizo, morcilla (blood sausage), Spanish linguiça, Spanish chorizo, smoked meats (Corte's brand), smoked herring, quail eggs, and other imported delicacies. Perhaps I will not need to drive all the way to La Española in Harbor City anymore for Spanish imports? They sell a very comprehensive list of Goya brand products and prepared foods. I grabbed a bag of ready to eat sweet plantains from the freezer as well. All so tempting. By the time I had perused the whole store and was headed to the cashier, my guard was completely down. There it was... freshly baked goods critically placed next to the cashier so you can't miss them. Soft crust baguettes and rolls in baskets, and small, sweet pastries and cookies in their bakery case. There were several pastries that looked very special, some featuring custard or quince filling. We, of course, had to buy some. I have already tested the one filled with the quince and topped with finely grated coconut. It was outstanding, not very sweet. The dough was lightly brushed with egg yolk for a rich, beautiful finish. These were super fresh and very tender. The baked goods are delivered fresh from an Argentinian bakery in Burbank. This is a great find! Not your usual small neighborhood grocery. I am very excited to return. read more

Small Latin specialty market, with many products you can't find even in the larger Latin themed grocery stores. Nice meat selections, and a few fresh baked items like empanadas. Parking is easy in the shopping center's lot. We specifically stopped in to buy a premium Argentinean butter that my wife was looking for. The young woman working at the cash register had an off-putting attitude when we asked about it and said that they were out of stock. We continued shopping and upon check out, an older gentleman (the owner, I believe) said that they did have it and went to the back and brought several out to my wife. Happiness was restored! They also had the Goya brand olives which we love, but other larger stores are no longer carrying. We also picked up some thin sliced Jamon Serrano for our next wine tasting charcuterie board. Overall, a nice little market, not too close to us, but if we lived nearby, I'm sure we'd visit regularly. read more

Unfortunately they cut spaghetti strips of plastic with the cuts, I don't know if it's from the meat or the cheese, but they aren't nano. So the service can't be put hip high. The ambiance is what I expected, but the food usually would make up for other areas, not in this market because of the inattentive carelessness of the cuts they did for me, if this gets a response from owner, and I'm told it's been addressed, I'll definitely give them a second chance, but we will see. I'm particularly health conscience but this is unacceptable. read more

Yes, some of the prices are a little bit higher than other stores, but it makes sense since this is one of the only walkable or nearby spots in the area. The convenience alone is worth it. I wish we had a Latimex market close to where I live my husband and I love the Cuban sandwich and the Argentinian empanadas are the best we have ever tried. They even get some Argentinian Bakery goods for example, sweet breads that are very good. They get them special delivered every morning so you have to go at a decent time or else if you go later towards the later afternoon to the evening, they are out of them, but I really like this market. There are things here that I really like to purchase that you cannot get in other markets. read more

I recently had their Marinaded Carne Asada and the flavor was so amazing and really enjoyable in my personal opinion. I don't know if they got a new butcher, but this was one of the best marinade I have had in a long time. The marinade was citrus and other flavors. Latimex Market is located at a shopping center in Chino, CA on Central Ave; close to the car wash and 7-Eleven. It's a small neighborhood Latin market has a good selection of Latin products from their respective countries in my personal opinion. Whenever we go to visit Latimex, we are welcomed by the staff. As well as I always get a glass bottle of Inka Kola that is imported from Peru. Our experience when we go, we always see new items they have for sale. In my personal opinion, if you are in the Chino area I would recommend Latimex for their brand products of the Latin world. read more

If you're looking for a great selection of Central and South American products, this is the market to go to. It's a whole in the wall market, but with all the essential Latin American products. Although the store is small, they have so much selection. Prices are decent too. I travel close to 20 miles just to buy Brazilian products here. I've also had their Colombian empanadas (made fresh from the food station) and oh, it's so good! The only con is that you need to look at the validity of the products. Some of the products come close to being expired (or even have expired). I wish they did a better job at removing the expired things. read more

I come here after work whenever I'm in the mood for empandas or a cubano sandwich. Their cubano ($6.49) sandwich is pretty good, the empanadas are $1.69. Their papa rellenas ($1.99) are a good size and the filling is a tasty ground beef. Their deli section is a nice size too, their mortadella is great in sandwiches. The cubano is pressed nicely and it's a good size; the ham and mustard in it tastes good. They take card. It's located next to the liquor store. read more

I went there today for the first time, they have a good variety of Latin products, but most of them without a price tag, please check expiration date, I got some alfajores, all of them already expired and fungi!!!!!!! The empanadas are really bad. I got some sandwich de miga, and I just realized they don't have a tag with the expiration date, not even the name of the company that made them!!! I spent almost $95 in just a couple of things. I drove 45' to get there and it was a Bad experience and I'm sure I'm not going back. read more
