    Maduros (~$4)
    Aya E.

Ordered: Maduros (~$4) Chicken Fajitas (~$13): served with yellow rice, beans, fresh guacamole & tortillas (I chose flour) Steak with Onions - Mexican Style (~$13): served with rice, beans, lettuce salad & fried plantain slices Aya's take: Placed a pick-up order on GrubHub and they did not disappoint! Portions and flavors were great. The guacamole was fresh, the yellow rice was aromatic, and the chicken fajitas had a nice balance of chicken and peppers/onions. The platters are definitely large enough to share or split into 2 meals. The Maduros were not as sweet as I've had in the past but still went well with the meal. Both dishes lacked a sauce unfortunately; it would have been better with a green salsa or hot sauce. Check them out!

Update: After some revisits, this place has won my heart. First of all, the decor has been refined and it now feels like a restaurant (although the long bar is still a little... casual). Secondly, I've been enjoying every dish. My dad had Honduran tacos - meat, cabbage, red sauce, fried. It works. I had the special chicken mole and wow, what a mole sauce. It was smoky and had that characteristic cocoa-without-sugar taste. Very complex, thick, the ideal mole. Anyone who pulls off a mole like that deserves every star I can rate. I'll be coming back more and more now that I know that this - this Honduran place - is also the best for Mexican anywhere near here. Also, the tres leches? Everything you want it to be. Get it.

Bu far the best restaurant I have EVER been too! Their menu is top notch. From mexican to Honduras, Italian and America. My friend got the Honduras pork with rice cheese avacado and beans and it a phenomenal, so authentic, my other friend got Honduras steak with salad rice beans. AMD it was beyond good. I went Italian and got chicken Piccata. I can't even tell you that this is the best chicken piccata I have ever had no doubt! I can't wait to go back to try more dishes. I would give this place more than 5 stars cause the service is amazing. You may wait a little bit for your food, but that's cause everything fresh cut and freshly made.

So delicious! My fiancé and I came in for a quick bite during lunch. We were seated as soon as we walked in. He ordered the steak and I ordered carnitas tacos and everything was amazing! I loved my tacos, but I couldn't help but to keep stealing bites of steak here and there. We also ordered pupusas revueltas before our meal. They were a little doughy for me, but my fiancé enjoyed them. I recommend anyone in the area to give them a try! We'll be back.

We placed an order for delivery and it arrived pretty fast. Authentic taste. Great flavor. Big portions. Will order from them again.

I wish I could give the restaurant 10 stars! Where do I begin! Beyond fresh food, passionately prepared and delicious food! I've been there numerous times and the food always amazes me! Everything is beyond expectation and I honestly couldn't think of going to any other Latin American restaurant!!! Amazing owner and chef and friendly staff!! I highly recommend this restaurant!!

Check this place out. The food was good; like the fried chicken wings but they were a little too salty, otherwise good flavor.

It wasn't until hours later when, stomach growling, I traipsed over to the fridge excited for the remnants of my enchiladas de mole, that I realized to my dismay that my comida had desaparecida. I've made up for this absent-minded first experience since, and La Bamba Grill 2 now ranks among my top 3 favorite casual Mexican restaurants in this region. My dining companions and I have variously enjoyed tacos, tostadas, pozole, churrasco, and other dishes. The chicken quesadilla, something I normally only order for the kid and am disappointed by 9 times out of 10 in most restaurants, gets my adult endorsement and also passes the ultimate test: toddler approval. As you can see from my photos, it's stuffed with cheese and chicken (we opted for grilled chicken but you can get the marinated shredded version which is a little spicy). I've trauma-bonded with the aforementioned mole enchiladas, which again, is full of chicken, in a very good and well-flavored mole sauce that's better then most other moles I've had in the area. The platters are huge, with generous amounts of everything. The interior is colorfully and cheerfully decorated with Mexican-themed artwork and adornments, with cozy booths as well as a diner counter. That's because it used to be a classic diner (Boonton Diner), installed in a converted vintage train car! And if the thought of street parallel parking makes you break out in hives, you'll be glad to know this is one of few restaurants on Main St. that has a parking lot. 5 stars. Would forget my takeout order here again!

One of my go-tos is the chicken quesadilla, which has a perfect tortilla - crisp on the outside, but gluten-y on the inside - along with stretchy, gooey cheese, which could stand to be more salted. Recently I went with the steak tacos, which had OK flavor, but which I wish were juicier. The chopped onions bring a lot for texture and freshness. I'm such a sucker for their thick, freshly fried tortilla chips. When parking on Boonton's Main Street is full up, La Bamba is easy to recommend because it has its own parking lot! At my last visit, at 1p on a Saturday, takeout orders were flowing, but only two tables inside were occupied.

What matters is the food, and the food in El Mejicano is authentically superb. On Monday 11/10/25 I had lunch at El Mejicano, and I was deeply impressed by its food. Authentic? I've been to Mexico four times, each time to a different state, and each state has its own food. Authenticity comes from the person who cooks the food, and the food here is fantastic. I was served chips and salsa, which were quite good: the chips thick, the salsa a bit spicy and flavorful. I've had chips and salsa many other times, and the ones here were quite good. Then I ordered pozole. I had pozole in Mexico twice, once in Jalisco, once in Oaxaca: those two were different from one another (authentic?) Very good, that they were. This pozole in El Mejicano was delicious, pork in a red sauce, chockfull of hominy and pork pieces, with complex flavors. Not spicy, but genuinely tasteful. I couldn't finish it (and had it for lunch the next day). Adding to my delight, my lunch included two tostadas; I added bits of salsa because that's how I like them. Service was attentive without being overbearing. The ambiance was delightful: a modern eclectic soundtrack added a layer of pleasure. El Mejicano is a gem, and I intend to eat there again. I highly recommend it.

It's a very casual, cafeteria-style spot with a semi-open kitchen, but don't let the simplicity fool you -- the food is incredible and the staff here is friendly and patient. The highlight of the experience is the small buffet that features a variety of freshly-made Latin cuisine -- including pulled pork, chicken and beef stews, and other traditional Latin entrees and sides. You can build your own plate by selecting one or more entrees and sides - which are priced accordingly. As a 'gringo' who wasn't entirely sure what everything was, I really appreciated them taking the extra time to explain all the different options and give me their honest recommendations. The counterstaff is bilingual and were pretty patient with my elementary school level Spanish vocabulary and grammar. I ended up going with the pulled pork platter with two sides ($7) and it was terrific -- the perfectly seasoned and tender pork, black beans and rice, and macaroni salad were delicious and very filling. You can tell they use fresh ingredients, and the portions are very generous for the price. If you're looking for authentic, home-style Latino food in a laid-back setting, this is the spot! PRO TIP #1: Bring a bottle of wine or beer from home to enjoy with your meal. Sazon Latino is a BYOB establishment and does not serve alcohol. PRO TIP #2: Sazon Latino offers free off-street parking in a small lot behind the restaurant and there's plenty of free on-street parking on Main Street.
