    Tacos de Birria
    Grace Nicole C.

Went on Sunday for dinner at around 6pm and it was pretty quiet, we were seated right away and greeted in spanish which to me is always a good sign when trying a hispanic place. The chips were good and thick, the salsa wasn't as spicy as I would've liked but it had a good taste to it. I ordered the birria tacos with consome - $16.5 is an incredible price for the amount of food I got! The meat was nice and tender and the consome was flavorful, I do like to add spicy to my food and unfortunately they don't have "salsa de arbol" and the salsa roja wasn't spicy enough for me which was a downside. The tortillas were flour which is also not my preference but still the tacos overall were good. I will definitely be coming back!

We found this newly opened Mexican restaurant in boonton n thought we'd try it on a very hot weekday. Wasn't in the mood to cook as it was too hot. The spicy shrimp w rice was v yummy . It cans w fries n salad. Generous amount of shrimp. The mixed fajita tasted good too. And the fried fish was really good.crispy n came w rice n black beans Thank you for a great dinner on a very hot day.

What a find in Boonton! Our new go-to Mexican restaurant. Welcoming and friendly staff, beautiful decor, wonderful ambience, and very clean. Now for the food. We ordered the Taco Birria, Beef Tacos, Carne Asada and flan for dessert. The entrees and dessert were generous and delicious! We will definitely be back!

In writing this review, I learned that "la bamba" is not actually Spanish. Just thought I'd open with that. La Bamba replaces a place I loved - Las Leyendas, who still has a few other locations, but nothing in walking distance. I had high hopes for La Bamba, but also high expectations, so we shall walk into the details like I walked into the restaurant: * Atmosphere is little changed. The table surfaces have been refreshed from previous, no holes or cracks. New fancy decor, but the old decor was fancy as well. A nice fun place in a diner car. And the menu is HUGE like a diner's. So I highly recommend reading it before you go. * Service remains friendly, though I had to signal to get their attention any time I wanted it. It would be nice if they stopped by every so often or kept an eye on the only diner in the restaurant (by the end). There were a couple of very quick fly-bys as soon as my food came out, and that was it. But chips/salsa were immediate, horchata was immediate, dinner came out quickly. * Food... Chips are homemade, so you get great stuff off the bat. The mole has a cocoa kick to it, but every time I get chicken mole I think of my favorite place that used to be in Bloomfield - so rich! so sad it's gone! - and that's an unfair comparison. You do not get a lot of portion here, but my appetite isn't what it once was so that's okay. The chicken parts were small but delectable, and filled out the three small (again, not a lot) tortillas. The beans have good flavor to them, little bit of cheese on top (not as much as I'm used to, but more than zero), and the rice was a little flavored but not too rich. Also, I asked for the food spicy, and I think they were hesitant to really provide spice. The small orange salsa with the chips was the spiciest part of the meal, and even the regular red salsa has a kick to it, but not quite enough in the sauce. Out of the fridge: Horchata not as good as Leyendas was. Not as big, not as thick, just not the same. Again, maybe an unfair comparison because I have my favorites I can no longer get. Tres leches cake was good but not as drenched as I like it. Verdict: I like that a Mexican place replaced the departed one. There are enough nice elements for me to round up to 4 stars, but I'm not sure La Bamba will be in my regular rotation.

Chopped salad - a variety of mixed greens and veggies well chopped. Nicely prepared. Blackened Mahi Mahi Tacos - 3 tacos with large chunks of fresh Mahi Mahi. Garnished with red cabbage slaw and guac. Served with a side of rice. Top notch fish tacos that I highly recommend. The exterior is adorned with beautiful plants and flowers. The interior is bright and contemporary with a farmhouse vibe. Plus plenty of perfectly positioned screens to watch your favorite game. The service was on point for the most part. Our server was great but I think he was working too many tables bye himself so we kinda missed the opportunity to order a second round of drinks. We are definitely adding Black Rabbit to our regular rotation. Give it a try.

[Blowing on my nails.] The menu is a mix of American comfort food and gastropub classics, but with flair, and has a bit of everything to satisfy different palates. Our eyes were probably bigger than our stomachs as we ordered 2 apps, 2 entrees, and 2 cocktails, and it was an enormous amount of food. The portions are definitely what you'd call hearty, and everything was very tasty. Thursdays are all day happy hour so we picked the fried calamari appetizer at the HH price (still a full and generous plate and didn't seem like a downsized version) which were tender and well-battered, as well as the hot honey wings which were meaty and substantial. The short rib parpadelle with housemade pasta and a perfectly medium-rare, well seasoned hanger steak with truffle fries completed our satisfying and belly-stuffing meal. The cocktails are serious as well - the presence of a drink with egg white is my personal litmus test for a bar that knows what it's doing, so the Thyme to Bloom special had my name on it. I'm salivating just looking at photos of dishes I didn't order, and am already plotting my return!

Our guests ranged in age from 3 years old to 77. We chose one of the pre-fixe menus with dessert, and everything was delicious. The appetizer selection, five items of our choice, was served family style, as was the selection of assorted desserts. Each of the four entrée choices was served attractively and thoroughly enjoyed by our guests. There was definitely something for everyone. We used the large screen TV to run a slide show of our wedding photos and various family moments on a loop throughout the event. We also had a playlist of our favorite wedding songs set up. The waitstaff, headed by Dania, was impeccable. All requests were handled immediately. Our thanks also to Adrian, who assisted us with all our plans and made well received suggestions. It was truly an elegant, white tablecloth affair which we will always remember.

The restaurant has a simple decor but enough special touches to set a Pakistani vibe. They have both booth and table seating. The restaurant is very clean. There is but one attendant that fills the roll of both waiter and cashier. After ordering we were presented with complimentary garlic naan and a green salad with yogurt. My son ordered the "Mixed Platter" ($17) which was huge and ended with a take-out box and a meal later in the week. The platter consisted of of 2 lamb kabobs, 2 chicken kabobs and the best biryani rice I ever tasted. I find their spices intoxicating. I ordered the "Goat Achari" ($16). The goat was cooked with spices and additionally flavored with pickles. The goat meat was marinated and fell of the bone. I could have eaten 2 bowls. The chai tea was anything but sweet and came with sugar for people like me that like their tea a bit sweet. The restaurant has street parking as well as on-site parking.

But I was craving Pakistani food the other night and we weren't anywhere we could cook so I started looking for a place in the area that we were staying when I found this restaurant on Yelp after visiting some breweries in and around the area. So I was like, Let's try it out! She agreed and we drove that way. So we walked in maybe 30 minutes or so before closing and placed a to go order because we didn't want to sit down and be rude by keeping them there after closing. The employees were nice and spoke to my girlfriend in Urdu so I have no idea what they were saying tbh. lol. I just know she ordered several things and I was excited to try them all. I stepped away to use the bathroom while she was doing her thing and when I came back out and I noticed it is a very clean place and decorated very nicely. So we went to the car and waited for maybe 15-20 minutes before the food was ready. We left and the food smelled so good on the drive back to the hotel. I was so pumped to eat it. She ordered: - Palak paneer 4/5 - Chicken kebab 3/5 - Basmati Rice 4/5 - Garlic naan 4/5 - Mutton gosth kharhi 3/5 - Keena paratha 4/5 - Gulab jamun 4/5 The food was good but not as good as hers or her mother's. Theirs is really really good! :D The palek paneer was my favorite. The chicken kabobs were okay just a little dry and lacked flavor. The garlic naan was pretty good. The mutton gosth kharhi was decent but this was my first time having it since I rarely ever eat meat, so I can't really compare it to anything I've had. I loved the keena paratha, but it was a little too oily. The rice was good. The gulab jamun was very tasty. This place is good and it's in a cool area on a cool street. Would I come again? Absolutely! It's good food and good service, especially considering it was take out. Shukriya!
