Chicken and beef empanadas
Candace S.

I've been to Latin Bowl several times and the food is typically pretty good. I recently went in for the 2 for $4 empanada deal on Sunday. The service was prompt and friendly. The empanadas were good but not amazing. I wish the chicken and beef were a little more seasoned. If I'm in the area and hungry, I'll probably grab something new to try.

Shredded Pork Filled Toston
Amanda M.

I was crazy hungry and this was the first thing I saw in the shopping plaza. I love Latin food so I was excited to try. I ordered the filled pork tostone with shredded pork. It was delicious! The meat was juicy, the tostone was crisp & I loved the cilantro lime sauce they make. I didn't know it came with chips & salsa but was pleasantly surprised they added it to my to go box! Service was super quick and friendly! This was enough food to feed me for two meals and I spent a little over $10! I also got a beef empanada for breakfast and looked in my bag & found two! Amazing! The beef empanada is just how I like it with juicy beef and olives! The shells & crispy and flavorful! Would recommend!

Steak bowl ($9 Saturday deal)

The food was pretty good. I really liked how they add sweet plantains in the bowl which I've never been to a bowl place that does that. The service was good as well. My only reason for 4 stars is that the food is covered with glass that had huge stickers on it, so you can't see the food through a glass. It would be nice to see the food and see if they're wearing gloves (for example like moes or chipotle.) the cleanliness and ambiance was good, not bad. But could be a little bit better.

This place is absolutely amazing truly it is, good prices, sweet workers, i recommend 100%.

Latin bowl with chicken

I ordered delivery from here once because they had a bogo deal going on and I was like sure why not. LISTENNNN. This was so good it left me angry that I hadn't had it before. The yucca bites were insane and my coworkers and I probably talk about them every other day. Their bowls make chipotle look like cold canned tuna. Get it in the crispy bowl thing if you can, sometimes when I go to order they don't have them available in the app so I'm not sure if they run out or what. I added platanos to the bowl last time and that was amazing. Their chicken empanada was a huge hit with my kid. I keep meaning to go in person and see what all else they have but until then this is my go to delivery food in Brandon!

Its ok, nothings to write home about.

My review is based on Door Dash and Uber eats. 3 for quality control but it gets 4.5 on food taste. Im a tad angry at the moment so i will keep this short. Angry at them for making me pay twice for my god damn lunch. If you order a group order or party of two and up? Do not trust this business. They don't verify that everything you order matches the actual physical ticket thats literally stapled to the same bag! So 1 or many of your friends and family will stay hungry. In this case? Its me. My other beef with them is the menu prices aren't honest. The bowls are 8 something but when u add a couple oz' s of protein they go up to 16$+ why not Just mark them at $16+ from the start!? 8$ bucks is a whole burger at mc d's. I got no beef with price total but it's hella misleading to do that. Then not make it and put in my order is enough for me to not ever order again. I may when i feel like it, do a walk in and see if this is something that they do all the time. Now i gotta rush my work to get lunch, if you gonna add your business to an Ordering app? You should keep quality of service and food at the same level. It's infuriating that they only refund n don't send what it owed. It's why i don't ever do business with restaurants that play games with me. Waste of time and money. The taco cheesy things are cold and whole. Not creamy n elastic like the picture. Something tells me they don't let the oil heat up enough. They are dark outside not golden is the biggest hint. You gotta wait for the proper time, the dough was hard also. I would've done a more softer dough and used a different type of cheese for it to properly melt. These are tough but taste ok. The guava sauce was very watery. I was hoping it was creamy or chunky. I make my own like that n avoid watery cuz it tastes bland. Ranch was ok. Found chips hidden under my empanadas. They meh, no salt, hardly no taste. I am actually disappointed. I was hopping since they screw me over on my meal. I was hopping the sides were gonna be legit. Nope another side with no bang. If i have to add spices to a meal or sides? Whats the point of paying someone to make u food? Wow I'm bummed out now. I cannot recommend this business to anybody wanting to do group orders or even lazy orders through apps. I can tell you that since i cannot review the rice bowl since they never freaking made it! That with the only things they gave me? Not worth it. Take your money to one of the many other food trucks nearby. If you are adamant to come here? Go in person and do not leave until you open your bag and verify everything matches the ticket. What i tasted is on the bland side. The empanada was ok. Although i cook like a pro i like helping local businesses. I have ordered from other apps n theres some hiccups here and there. Im more bothered on the missing food. Welp i guess wawa it is for my lunch. At least they don't screw me over ever.

Tamale, more stuffing than anything
Meagan F.

The chicken cordon blue bites were delicious but the tamale was disappointing both in flavor and filling. Ground beef is way too watery.

Brittany M.

Just amazing they have a loaded tamales!!! The tamales itself it so delicious the texture is perfect and filled the way I like it, loaded is right they put pulled pork and delicious cheese on top Didn't really want the chips but it's nice to have one of these had me full for hours it was so good! I'm so used to getting there bowls I was so happy to try something new I was a little nervous because I had just got some tamales the other day and the were so dry and crumbly just not the way I like them. But these are a need!

Rice bowl with shredded beef to-go. Huge serving with plenty of beef. Yummy!

Wow! This is some yummy food! We just happened to find Latin Bowl by searching Yelp while we were out. It's a fast, casual place but the food is a higher standard. They have a daily special for each day of the week including the weekend. We were there on a Sunday and it was 2 for $4 on empanadas. We got one chicken and one beef to try. These were good but my least favorite item. Both are very rich. I preferred the chicken to the beef. I got a rice bowl with shredded beef. It was huge! One cool add on is maduros as a topping. They were really tasty. The flavors of all the ingredients was scrumptious. I was very impressed with all the ingredients you can add at no extra cost. The price (around $10 for the shredded beef) is well worth it since you could eat 2-3 meals off of this bowl! I think I would have opted for the taco shell bowl if I had been eating it there. The shell bowl looked delicious but I was worried it would get soggy before I arrived home. My boyfriend got a toston platter with shredded pork. Also huge! He said it was delicious. I had too much myself to even taste it. We tried a loaded tamale. Very good, just to let everyone know, the tamale is traditional corn with no meat. If you want meat (shredded pork) get the loaded tamale. We also tried the Yucca Cheese bites. They gave us both avocado cilantro and guava dip for them. I was surprised but I preferred the guava dip. Yummy! The store is very clean and the employees very nice. It was a steady crowd. We had ordered online which was extremely easy. Our order was ready when we arrived a little less than 20 minutes later. I would definitely eat here again!

I visited this location in Brandon Florida. The inside was very clean and the customer service was great. They have specials everyday for different items on the menu. I ordered the Saturday special (pork burrito) and an empanada. The burrito was filled with meat and very fresh. The empanada was not as flakey as I would like but it was crunchy and had a good flavor. I would visit again

We went here and it was near to closing time. It was clean and the aroma of the food is in the air. It's a first time visit and so we ordered our food. The menu on the wall says the name of what can order with no description of quantity of items. Like 2 tacos or 3, and so on. It doesn't say spicy level, so we try and ask. We get the famous line, " oh it's not spicy" yes it had some heat to it. We ask before ordering, trying to figure out if we need to order appetizers. We are hungry. We just order. The food taste good, but I am still hungry. So I go back up and order a tamale. Now I know everyone makes different types, according to country of origin. This version comes plain, or with shredded pork on top. We ordered it plain. It was like soft fluffy cornbread with bits of ham in it. It was a first for me. Well it's not a bad place to eat. They just needs descriptions of what they have to choose from.

Scott K.

Great food and great service for a reasonable price. I got the chicken and rice bowl because it was the special of the day. Will definitely come back!

I have always disliked matcha (and I've tried it all over the world...) I mentioned that to the owner and he said "Nooooooo- you've not had it made the right way!" And he gave me an awesome education about matcha. Even shared the one he was making so I could experience it the way God intended....with an "ahhhhh" , a smile, and a chocolate cold foam mustache! Perfection! It didn't taste like dirt, it tasted like a chocolate covered strawberry in liquid form! We intended to pop in for a coffee, stayed for a coffee, a matcha, an education, and the cool vibes put out by the folks here. The box came well-assembled: white rice topped with teriyaki chicken, garnished with rice seasoning, a side of noodles also seasoned with rice seasoning, a salad with dressing, and two pieces of fried gyoza. The gyoza were the highlight for me -- crispy and quite good. Overall, the ensemble made for a satisfying, no-fuss meal. Simple, decent, and I wouldn't hesitate to order it again. The ambiance is where this place really adds some personality. One corner of the restaurant is dedicated to DIY painting activities, making it a great spot for creative types or families. I must be the only person who didn't know that Mike's Pies is hidden in an office/warehouse space…read moreon Windhorst near Falkenburg Road. They've been there for 3 years now. I was still getting their key lime pies at Winn-Dixie up until this past week. For those who are not local, they started their business in Tampa over 30 years ago. The pies can be found nationally at restaurants and grocery stores. They happened to be one of many contestants in a pie contest on GMA recently which prompted me to look up their address. They are closer than I thought. As others have said, it's hidden. Thankfully I read the reviews stating that because it still took me a while to find it. I had also read that you need to call ahead if you want something specific, or during the holiday rush for pies. I went on a whim to see what they had available. They had many frozen pies, and I believe some were being held for pick up orders. She said there was one seasonal guava cheesecake left. At that point, I didn't even really care what other flavors they had. I think they had key lime, pecan, and others. It was guava that screamed the loudest to me. It was a very quick transaction after that. I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. I kept it in the car for a while because I had other errands to run. It defrosted enough were I could pull out a slice of it and pop the rest into the freezer (yep, it can be refrozen). These cheesecakes are already pre-sliced which is very convenient. Mind you, these are larger than any of the Mike's Pies sold at grocery stores. There are 12 big slices in this cheesecake. I couldn't wait for my slice to defrost. I went ahead and ate it partially frozen. It was the best cheesecake ever! The guava is not just on top of it. It's mixed inside the cheese cake. It had guava in every bite. It ended up being so creamy towards the end as it continued to defrost. Maybe because I took my sweet time savoring each bite. I so wish this flavor was on their regular local menu. I remember seeing it on the menu at Fat Willie's Fish Camp back in September but they ran out of it. I feel like this cheesecake was meant for me to find. I will get it again whenever it's back on the local menu. This cheesecake will have to last until then.
