It did not taste like it used to. But my coffee was still delicious But I feel like I waited almost 20-25 minutes. The food took about 8 minutes to come out and it was delivered to the table. This Cuban sandwich was excellent and it rivals some of the best in Tampa Bay. The empanada was not as great. The mojo mustard provided with the empanada was something unique to me but not great. As it stands, Box of Cubans has a great sandwich and a fun Cuban theme. Listen, in the age of 10$ and 15$ hamburgers, this place doesn't necessarily rise to the occasion. I paid 14$ for a 7 or 8 inch long Cuban sandwich. Hardly wider than the width of the phone in your hand. Not only is it small, but they charged me 1$ per topping to add lettuce and onion. The sandwich is perfectly average. Tasted good but didn't come with fries or drink at a 14$ pricetag. I've had better tasting, larger Cuban sandwiches with fries and a drink in and around Tampa for less $. We ordered two classic Cuban sandwiches, a Pipo's breakfast sandwich, a beef and cheese empanada and a cafe con leche. They suggested their mojo mustard for the sandwiches and the empanada and even let us sample it before giving us a side of it. I'm not usually a mustard person but I gave it a try once and could not go without! I used to frequent the location they had at the gas station when it was open pre-covid and used to order a Cuban sandwich and a cafe con leche whenever I could make the drive from South Tampa. The cilantro sauce on the steak sandwich was to die for, I got extra on the side to dip it in. Chips and a drink can be added to make a combo. They gave us a cortadito and cheeseburger empanada to try which was very nice of them. Both ended up being great and will be added to our order next time, with other empanada flavors to try.
