It's rare to find a spot that draws you back 24 hours later, but this place is a total standout in Miami. Despite having a larger group this time, we were greeted warmly and seated immediately. The service was excellent from start to finish--attentive, friendly, and perfectly paced for a family dinner. We kicked things off with the Cuban sampler, which was the perfect introduction to the menu and got everyone excited for the main event. Every dish that hit the table was a hit: the Red Snapper was incredibly fresh, and the Chicharron de Pollo had that perfect crunch. My wife really enjoyed the Chicken Milanesa, but for me, the Paella was the star of the show--rich, authentic, and packed with flavor. It's safe to say everything was delicious yet again. We've officially added this to our "must-visit" list for every trip to Miami. If you're looking for a meal that feels both high-quality and welcoming, you can't beat this spot. We'll definitely be back!

Needed to do errands in North Miami, so Little Havana came up as a place to go for Cubanos. It has…read morethree locations in Miami, with this one in North Miami being the original, opened in 1991. We dined in, and the visit blew away the food from the previous week. I really like Cuban sandwiches, so will be something my brother and I keep seeking out during short visits to Miami. We had a one-day rental car, so found Little Havana Restaurant, coming a bit after peak lunch time. It's on a major street, with surface angled parking in the back. There are a lot of wild birds in the area, with their guano being everywhere outside. It's a big dining area inside, and we were immediately directed to a prime location with views of their small lush adjacent green space, and the birds that live there. Elizabeth was our server, with water and complementary rolls being immediately offered by helpers. She and her team were great throughout, offering suggestions and bringing the food nice and hot. We ordered off the Happy Hour menu (11:30 - 18:00 M-F) and the Lunch Special Menu (11:30 - 16:00). We were greatly satisfied with every dish Shrimp in Garlic Sauce, appetizer size ($14.99) - 5 jumbo tail-on shrimp, sauteed in a scampi type sauce. It's what you expect when you douse good shrimp with a butter garlic sauce. The appetizer does not come with rice/beans, but we had plenty of it from the other dishes...loved spooning the sauce over the rice while eating. Roast Pork Lunch ($12.99) - what a deal. A dish of pulled pork with a big piece of fried pork skin on top...reminded me of the Filipino lechon, or even the Hawaiian kalua pork, with the tenderness of the mean. It came with a big scoop of rice and a bowl of red beans. Lamb Shank ($18.49) - This was recommended by Elizabeth when asked by my brother, what he shouldn't miss. It's a Cuban special, cooked in wine sauce. It was a big piece, still on the bone, coming with a big plate of rice and fried plantains. He enjoyed it, though he was struggling a bit at the end. Cuban Sandwich ($12.49) - A full size Cuban sandwich, cut in half. It had been grilled on a sandwich press with a little oil, resulting in the cuban bread being crispy at the top. It had the right mix of that same delicious pulled pork, along with ham, melted swiss, mustard and pickle slices. It was very good, great value for the price. Paying was done at the top, and we intentionally did not take any leftovers. There is a framed newspaper article from 1991 in the lobby, where you can read more about their origins.

Need to try again…read more I've had Cotoa on my radar for a while and found a convenient reservation and jumped on the opportunity. First things first, reservations are more or less necessary, so I highly recommend making one. When you first walk in, you are immediately greeted by the host who guides you into the dining area. This area is relatively small, but good enough for small groups or parties of 2-4; additionally, it's an inviting atmosphere, perfect to enjoy a long meal (which you will need, more on that in a bit). The menu has a wide array of options; you can find some snacks for around $15, then ceviche for ~$25, and mains ranging from $40-65. So be prepared to spend $40-50 per person. During our visit, we tried two ceviches and el pincho. The ceviches were incredible, easily the best "red" ceviches I have ever had. Each bite was a blast of flavor and textures; you can taste the freshness, feel the crunch, and enjoy the combination of flavors. As for the hanger steak, it was quite high quality, perfectly cooked, but nothing out of the ordinary; it lacked that special twist that the ceviche had. Another exceptional part of the experience was the service; although food takes a long time to be ready, so be prepared for this. Our servers made sure we had a great experience from being careful about allergies to making recommendations; simply 5 stars. All in all, Cotoa is definitely a 5-star experience when it comes to the "Pacific" dishes, really something delicious and unique, while some of the other options left a bit to be desired. I have to go back again and try some of the other entrees and will adjust this review as needed. My Criteria 5 stars: The best food I have ever had, or an excellent option given the price. 4 stars: Good food, a restaurant I look forward to trying again. 3 stars: Good food, a restaurant that I am indifferent to. 2 stars: Below average experience, will not go again. 1 stars: This restaurant should be closed.

I had the grilled provolone & garlic shrimp appetizers. Both were delectable; I'll be thinking about the garlic shrimp for a while. The skit steak was incredibly tender & had a perfect char in the edges. The ribeye was juicy, tender & flavorful. I didn't even need to add salt. They come with honey mustard, panko or bbq sauce for dipping but I found them to overpower the steaks. This is a pricey place but i think you get what you pay for. The value is high. I'll be back!

We were very welcomed walking through the door. We were offered seating inside or out. The Floridians feel the weather is too muggy to sit outside, we were more than happy to do so. A word of caution, you are on a very busy street when you sit outside, so there is a good deal of traffic noise. To begin, they bring out a plate of four types of bread, along with a tray with green and black olives and a red tangy spread. This was quite good. We started out with an empanada appetizer. You have a choice of four kinds, we went with spinach. Before the appetizer arrived, the waitress brought out a plate of bread and olives. We are off to an excellent start. When the empanadas showed up, we were provided 8 cups of dips, six of which were different toppings to put on the appetizer. We tried them all. From barbecue sauce to salt, hummus, and a tomato based sauce, we had fun tasting the different flavors. For the entree, both of us went with the Outside skirt steak. We went this route as it was recommended by the waitress as one of their more signature dishes. We went with it prepared, medium. A short time later, the meal arrived, both of which were the 14 ounce portion. They do offer a larger portion if you're super hungry. The steak was slightly overcooked, but not enough to ruin the mood. The steak was flavorful, but a bit on the fatty side. I get the fat as it adds flavor so it really was not an issue. The meals come à la carte. So we ordered steamed broccoli and sweet potato fries. Overall good experience. A place I would return to again.

In the pictures there are both and it was 9$ for basically canned soup. Tasted awful. Ordered spinach croquettes. They were tiny but delicious, well prepared and worth it. Ordered Moro rice-inedible. Dry. Dry. Dry. And the only flavor was salt. Not sure why they would send the last bit of rice from the pot that sat out all day, but that is what I got. Ordered vegetables-the picture is broccoli, cauliflower and carrots in garlic sauce. I got a few pieces of iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, onions and some cucumbers. That pissed me off since it was not at all what I ordered. Maybe I ordered the wrong things, because the review here are pretty positive. Tried to call the restaurant to see why they didn't include the actual vegetables and decided a salad was a good substitute. No answer. So I won't be eating from here again. Disappointed.
