Needed to do errands in North Miami, so Little Havana came up as a place to go for Cubanos. It has three locations in Miami, with this one in North Miami being the original, opened in 1991. We dined in, and the visit blew away the food from the previous week. I really like Cuban sandwiches, so will be something my brother and I keep seeking out during short visits to Miami. We had a one-day rental car, so found Little Havana Restaurant, coming a bit after peak lunch time. It's on a major street, with surface angled parking in the back. There are a lot of wild birds in the area, with their guano being everywhere outside. It's a big dining area inside, and we were immediately directed to a prime location with views of their small lush adjacent green space, and the birds that live there. Elizabeth was our server, with water and complementary rolls being immediately offered by helpers. She and her team were great throughout, offering suggestions and bringing the food nice and hot. We ordered off the Happy Hour menu (11:30 - 18:00 M-F) and the Lunch Special Menu (11:30 - 16:00). We were greatly satisfied with every dish Shrimp in Garlic Sauce, appetizer size ($14.99) - 5 jumbo tail-on shrimp, sauteed in a scampi type sauce. It's what you expect when you douse good shrimp with a butter garlic sauce. The appetizer does not come with rice/beans, but we had plenty of it from the other dishes...loved spooning the sauce over the rice while eating. Roast Pork Lunch ($12.99) - what a deal. A dish of pulled pork with a big piece of fried pork skin on top...reminded me of the Filipino lechon, or even the Hawaiian kalua pork, with the tenderness of the mean. It came with a big scoop of rice and a bowl of red beans. Lamb Shank ($18.49) - This was recommended by Elizabeth when asked by my brother, what he shouldn't miss. It's a Cuban special, cooked in wine sauce. It was a big piece, still on the bone, coming with a big plate of rice and fried plantains. He enjoyed it, though he was struggling a bit at the end. Cuban Sandwich ($12.49) - A full size Cuban sandwich, cut in half. It had been grilled on a sandwich press with a little oil, resulting in the cuban bread being crispy at the top. It had the right mix of that same delicious pulled pork, along with ham, melted swiss, mustard and pickle slices. It was very good, great value for the price. It's rare to find a spot that draws you back 24 hours later, but this place is a total standout in Miami. Despite having a larger group this time, we were greeted warmly and seated immediately. The service was excellent from start to finish--attentive, friendly, and perfectly paced for a family dinner. We kicked things off with the Cuban sampler, which was the perfect introduction to the menu and got everyone excited for the main event. Every dish that hit the table was a hit: the Red Snapper was incredibly fresh, and the Chicharron de Pollo had that perfect crunch. My wife really enjoyed the Chicken Milanesa, but for me, the Paella was the star of the show--rich, authentic, and packed with flavor. It's safe to say everything was delicious yet again. We've officially added this to our "must-visit" list for every trip to Miami. If you're looking for a meal that feels both high-quality and welcoming, you can't beat this spot. Amazing Cuban Food!!!! We've been by here a million times, yet we experience their delightful food because of their delicious catering. So of course we wanted to check them out. We walked in to a wonderful Cuban atmosphere with friendly and informative staff. Their Oxtail in Wine Sauce was outstanding. They were delicious as usual. Reminded me of the Cuban cafeteria by my old middle school. I ordered the Cuba libre and was very disappointed. It was super watery and tasted like bottom shelf liquor. It wasn't good. For dinner I ordered the Cuban chicken dinner. Delicious. The chicken was juicy and seasoned to perfection. The rice and beans complemented the meal well. The cuban chicken was garlicky just as I imagined. Delicious. Accompanied with the most delicious black beans, white rice and sweet plantains. we enjoyed our meal and ended it with Tres Leches. It was a generous slice that we shared. As you can see we devoured it before I thought to take a picture. We were in Deerfield which has outdoor seating. So much nicer than the air-conditioning. These guys are back! After Covid we stopped coming bc their flavors weren't the same after years of patronage. We reluctantly took guests from out of town last week and were blown away. I've been a loyal, regular customer for years, but what happened during my last visit was not only disappointing... it was unsafe and unacceptable. We were a party of six, including my 1-year-old son in a high chair, seated in the big dining area (the one that's usually closed during the week). Around 7:50 PM, our waiter placed a hot to-go coffee directly in front of my baby. There were plenty of other safe spots on the table, but instead it was set right in front of a child. Naturally, he reached for it, spilled it, and burned his leg. And then -- nothing. Not one staff member stopped to ask if he was okay, if we needed help, or even to apologize. The entire restaurant was staring at us, and the staff just carried on as if nothing happened. If management wants proof, check your cameras. You will see exactly what happened. This is more than bad service -- it's a serious safety issue. Your staff needs better training to be aware, to use common sense, and to prioritize customer safety, especially around children. To make matters worse: * We received no refills the entire meal. * We were a table of six regular customers and still treated with zero care or urgency. I've always supported this restaurant, but after this experience, I'm seriously reconsidering coming back. I truly hope management takes this seriously, reviews the cameras, and trains the staff to be more attentive and responsible. read more

After seven years of not coming here, we wanted to come back to retry this amazing restaurant we would also come to at least once a week. It was just a ling distance for us to travel to and the parking can be a little bit limited. They had the restaurant nicely decorated for Halloween, so that was pretty cool. We were seated immediately, and our waiter was super attentive and friendly the entire time! For appetizers, we ordered some ham croquettes, which were very tasty. They also gave us complimentary cuban bread. For entrees, we each got something different; everyone enjoyed their dish! I had the grilled fish fillet with moro rice and plantains, and everything complimented each other perfectly. I tried some of my dad's creole fish as well, and the sauce and veggies are seasoned nicely. Lastly for dessert my parents ordered a flan made of dulce de leche, which tasted amazing! I ordered the Taste of Havana appetizer (pork, chicken, tamales, fried Yuca, croquettes & Maraquitas) not knowing what Maraquitas were. See the photo. My wife ordered the Havana Salad with Chicken. See the photo. Her chicken was very tasty, recommend it highly. The sampler appetizer plate offered tastes I've not had and I admit one did not 'please' my palette but I do not regret trying new things EVER even if they don't work for me. The rest of my appetizer dinner was quite good. On a funny note, my wife ordered a mojito and I ordered a Jameson's on the rocks. They searched and searched and finally presented me with a bottle of Hennessy asking it that was what I wanted. Heh, when in Cuba perhaps don't ask for Irish Whisky LOL... I ordered a Piña Colada as my wife didn't like the mojito (too much mint for her) and we traded drinks.
