Been buying Latinas Pizza, every since in high school since in the 60's. You can't go wrong eating here!

I grew up in the Flint area but moved away in the late '80s. Recently, I came back to visit and met up with my cousin, who suggested we stop by Latina Restaurant & Pizzeria. At first, I couldn't quite remember the place--but the moment we pulled up, it all came flooding back. Back in the day, my cousin, my dad, and I would come here after hockey games in the '80s for pizza. Walking inside, it felt like stepping back in time. The place still looks just like I remembered it, and I was thrilled to see the Flint Generals sign still hanging on the wall. (Not even sure when they stopped being the Generals, but it brought back memories!) We ordered a pizza, and let me tell you--these folks do not skimp on the toppings. The pizza was fantastic. After all these decades, it's clear why Latina is still around: great food, great service, and a place full of heart and history. I just moved into the neighborhood, I've been looking forward to trying Latinas. Ordered a medium stromboli, bacon, ham and pepperoni. I can understand a little greasy. But to my surprise, it was completely grease soaked and completely soggy!!! Completely unedible!!! The stromboli was very small for $25!!!! I hate to say it but after my experience I'd be scared to try anything else on the menu. Very dissatisfied with Latinas. The only positive thing I can say was the meat sauce for dipping was excellent. read more

This place has plenty of parking and plenty of seating. It does get quite busy so it's good to call ahead. The lights are always turned down low They have nice booths if you want to have a romantic evening you can sit off to the side. The food is always made with quality and comes consistently with an eye on detail. My favorite is the baked spaghetti. It has those brown crusty cheese edges from the broiler that I love to pick off. It has the right amount of sauce which isn't too sweet and the noodles are al dente. It comes with a small loaf of homemade baked bread. I also got this time the Alfredo but I forgot to add the chicken. But the Alfredo feels like Grandma made it. It's got a thicker consistency like real Parmesan was used. The salads always have crunchy lettuce and slivers of carrots with a delicious Caesar dressing. I'm not sure if it's made in house but it is yummy. I've had pizza from here as well. Everything I've tried from here is delicious. Also be sure to try their goofy bread. It's something all the locals know about and it's yummy. read more

With the need for three large pizzas and a specialty vegetable pizza without much notice, Latinas came through big time. Even though they didn't have a vegetable pizza on their menu, the gentleman that answered the phone said he would put something together for me and the folks that ate, it said it was really really good. A big shout out to the staff of Latinas for quickly putting our order together. read more

Very disappointed tonight. Came in for dinner at 6:00. Asked for a table for 6 people and was told they could not accommodate us. There was no line waiting to be seated and we could see empty tables. I asked if we could put tables together and they said that was not an option. They were too busy as they just sat a party of 10. We left and went next door to Gourmet Wok and enjoyed a lovely meal at a table of 6. Your loss, and I will be sure to share this with others. read more

It's been quite awhile since we have been to Latina's - we just don't eat out much anymore - but it was my daughter's 26th bday and this was where she ask to go. We went early -4pm -because we knew it got busy on a Saturday night and it was perfect for us with just a handful of people there. Just fyi by the time we left -about an hour or so later- it was starting to really fill up. We chose to sit in the dining room - they also have a room with the bar in it - and we were seated right away. Then we were waited on immediately. Danielle was our sever and we could not have ask for better service. She was absolutely amazing. She was so warm and friendly and almost knew what we wanted before we ask lol Our salads came quickly along with a little loaf of bread -hot & fresh out of the oven! It was DELICIOUS! The salads were very nice with fresh crispy lettuce and ripe tomatoes but also lots of cheese and croutons and even a handful of cranberries - which was something different for me. We had just the right amount of time to eat them before our meals got there. The meals looked AMAZING! My one daughter got baked shells, my other daughter got baked ravioli, I got the cheese tortellini with marinara sauce and hubs got a Sicilian sub that comes with fries. The baked dishes had a delicious layer of cheese on top with just the right amount of browning. The shells had the best filling I've had. The baked ravioli are meat filled and a perfect balance of meat, pasta and of course the cheese on top. The tortellini were a little bit of a lighter fare since they weren't baked but they still had the delicious filling and I chose the marinara sauce because I thought the meat sauce would be too heavy with it. I think it was the right choice. The Sicilian sub was a good size sub with pepperoni & ham, provolone & mozzarella lettuce & tomato. They def don't skimp on the meat & cheese and the bread was nicely toasted. It was the first time hubs couldn't finish a meal in a long time so that tells you it was big! ALL the portions are extremely large! We had enough to not only sample each other's meals but to all have take home for another meal. I know their prices may seem a bit steep - I thought they were when I first scoped out the menu - but for not only the amount of food you get but for the quality of it I'd say it's well worth it This was definitely a great experience and I know we'll go back to Latinas. The food is good and service is good. In the past I've enjoyed the pizza but lately and today it's been a disappointment again. There pizzas are good and the crust are cooked perfectly but the rest of the dough is raw. Kinda disappointed because this place used to be a good pizza place. read more

Eat the Stromboli!! I cannot vouch for anything else. We always sit in the bar area and have drinks. If Stromboli is desired, order the family size!! The inside is older and awesome. Super legit out school Italian restaurant located conveniently next to GM. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They box your leftovers, offer great food opinions and keep your drinks full! I want to get this out of the way first: the prices are a little high, so be prepared. Having stated this, the food is well worth the cost. As one who enjoys trying out different foods, numerous items on the menu have been tried. But the pizza- this is where they really shine. It is a 'must have' to get a large 'Latina Best' pizza and an antipasto salad. The pizza will fill the largest of appetites. The wait staff is always friendly and courteous. Finally, if dining in, they wait staff will bring out small loaves of fresh bread, all warm and yummy. It is served with butter and honey butter. read more

On a recent trip to visit family in Michigan we ordered pizza, pasta & salads from here. My girlfriend recommended the place as she grew up around here and this was her favorite pizza spot. This place is just east of the GM Van Slyke Complex. As kids, we used to enjoy the little jukeboxes at each booth, where we could select three songs for a quarter. Latina's has been my family's first choice for pizza for more than 35 years 'cause: -the crust is good; -you'll get more cheese for your $ than anywhere else; -the antipasto salad is loaded with pepperoni, ham, mushrooms, cheese, pickles, and olives; -there's other good stuff (like French fries!) when someone in your party prefers a pizza-free meal. read more

This place does Italian so right. I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo and not only were the portions very generous, but the taste was phenomenal. Our server, Jamaica, was friendly, efficient, and quick. 10/10 definitely will return! read more

I have only tried the lasagna and it is filling as it gets. But I think what I like most is the individual baking dish so I get plenty of the crispy edges. Their bread is above average too. Cooked just right. I make special trips to get it now and then. read more

Ok, so this is one man's opinion: This place sucks. I last ate here Jan. 2004 - My buffet lunch was no bargain because the lasgna and mostacolli were dry and looked like they were left over from the day before. The sauce (I think there is only one!) had all the zing of fancy ketchup. They really do bury everything under a mound of fatty, greasy heart-clogging cheese. Our server was a grumpy redneck lady who twice brought out salad with pepperonis on them, even though my tablemates requested the opposite. There was only one other table in the place, so I couldn't understand why the service was so SLOW. We actually left without tipping. This is old skool/dinosaur Italian dining that I assume has disappeared from more cosmopolitan cities. The decor is tacky. It's a time warp, for real. read more

The food here was mediocre, and most definitely not worth the money you will spend on it. However, I will mention that the cheese garlic bread was good and not too expensive. Although, when I was served the entree I ordered, shells and cheese, I was thoroughly disappointed. The bottom of the dish was coated with a thick layer of greasy cheese, as was the top. There were only three stuffed shells, which contained a lukewarm cheese filling. Overall, I was disappointed in spending a decent amount of money on a grease covered small amount of pasta. Everything about this restaurant was lovely from the service, to the salad, to the meal. I had a Caesar salad and it was literally the best salad I have ever had in my life. For my meal, I got the lunch sized lasagna, and it was delicious!! It was also reasonably priced. What the hell am I doing in a Detroit suburb?! A Michigan wedding sent my yelp tour on the road and landed me at Latina Restaurant for a pre-wedding dinner party. At this point I was jet-lagged and a bit out of it from lack of sleep. The party seating area was in what looked like a sports bar. Detroit Red Wings memorabilia consumed the walls. (A form of fiery purgatory for any Anaheim Ducks fan.) If you looked long and hard enough you'd be able to find a tiny Tigers or Lions logo. The Pistons seemed to be excluded all together from the Detroit sports world. I was truly in Hockey Town. I was amazed at the starter salad I received upon ordering my lasagna. It was quite large and had many toppings. Usually when I go to an Italian restaurant, I am given a tiny salad soaked in dressing. The mixture of cranberries and bacon bits made my mouth confused. I can't say if it was good or bad (I was out of it) but it was interesting to say the least. I wish I could say that about the lasagna. The amount that was served was more than one can consume after eating a rather large starter salad. The one (and only) folly of Italian food is that it can become quite bland after awhile. This was the case for the lasagna which was served to me in a giant porcelain boat. This thought wasn't my own. My friend was having a staring contest with her spaghetti. We tried sharing our meals with each other to conquer the blandness, but soon realized that we pretty much ordered the exact same thing in a different shape and form. I didn't try any of the pizza nor did I have any of their beer. I'm sure there's some allure to this place that keeps it going, I just didn't get to sample any of it. Not good. Horrible food, bad service, tacky atmosphere, unappealing menu options. This eatery requires some serious updating and a visit by Gordon Ramsay to turn around this dud. Inattentive service and unappetizing food sent me running out the door of this place. I requested no bacon or pepperoni on my salad multiple times and each time it came back topped with even more meat! I was incredulous. I really thought it was a joke. I believe my pasta was previously frozen because that's how it tasted. So much for "homemade." The sauce tasted like it came from a jar at the grocery store and I'm not even talking about Mario Batalli's $8 a pop marina, either. It probably would have tasted better had it been. My husband's meal appeared to have been made days prior and my mother-in-law's food was cold to the touch. On top of that, our server was snappy to her and to guests at nearby tables, too. I repeatedly sent back my drink order as well because the server kept getting it wrong. By the third time she brought my drink back, she just slammed it down on the table and mumbled at me. Wow. The whole restaurant was in need of a spring cleaning. Every surface seemed grimy. I was not impressed. Go elsewhere for authentic Italian cuisine, people. read more

The worst. Just the worst. My friend described his plate as we ate their Ravioli special as being "A plate looking like it's covered in vomit." He wasn't mistaken. Their "Fresh bread" comes to you piping out, straight out of the microwave. Like hot microwaved bread? If you do, its the place for you. Their pizza has a lot of toppings but I think it lacks a distinct flavor. It's "OK". Better than a fast food pizza place (At least some of them) but I'd never go here on purpose. The wait staff looks like all their hair was styled in the early 80's when they left high school and they decided to never change it. I wouldn't have made that comment, but they're often rude so I figure why not share that little gem. If you're tempted to go to Latina's I'd make a few suggestions: 1. Don't. 2. Get in your car, go north a few miles. Get off at linden road and eat at Ruggeros. 3. Go farther north, eat at Sorrentos or even Gina's in flushing (Which I don't like, but it's WAY better than Latinas. 4. If you're not afraid of Flint Proper, go north on I-75, then go to 69 east to 475 north, get off on Davison road and go to Luigis. OR Stay on 69 and go to Raincheck. The last few suggestions are in bad areas but the pizza is top notch, and the best in Flint. STAY AWAY. OMG, STAY AWAY. Microwaved bread. STAY AWAY. Did I say Stay away? Because you should, because it's horrible. Anyone who says this place is good should have their opinion/review labeled as "Suspect". read more

Unfortunately I frequented this place because our friends liked it and they seated large groups without many problems. Fortunately it was about 10 years ago. Their pizza's were way too cheesy...almost as cheesy as the lousy singer with the shades who performed every Friday night. I have been coming to Latina's since I was in diapers. The atmosphere is homey, however, from an outsiders view I would say it probably needs a renovation. The food is absolutely delicious. Lasagna to die for, warm bread that melts in your mouth, cheese sticks the size of a toddler's arm, fre$h antipasto. However, it comes with a price. I'd definitely say they could stand to knock their prices down a bit. Overall, there are definitely improvements to be made, but I will eat here until the day I die. read more

I decided to eat here to try something different. I've heard good things about this place so I was excited to try it! Our server was wonderful, she provided excellent service. I ordered the mostaccioli and received a plate with noodles and sauce. I was very disappointed because there was no cheese, and no Italian sausage. So it was just spaghetti. Look up any mostaccioli recipe and it will have cheese and some sort of meat in it. If there had been a description on the menu that listed the ingredients I would have been able to see that it didn't come with meat and cheese and I would not have gotten it. they are located about 300 yards east of the Bristol and Van Slyke corner on the north side of Bristol. Latina's offers good family food, particularly their italian fare. the lasagna is especially delicious. you can eat it there or you can take it with you. the servings are usually plentiful, so bring your appetite. the prices are fair, the service is good, and they've been in the same location for years and years. Velma provided the best wait experience that I've had at a restaurant in as long as I can remember. She always had refills for me and my girlfriend without us having to wait yet it was done in a way that was not overbearing. You could feel that she was being attentive because as we drank or as we ate she would approach at when you would need her and not in an arbitrary manner. I really appreciate that thank you Velma. The pizza we ordered was generous and the two appetizers that we ordered alongside it were whole-heartedly the same. This is definitely the place you want to go to if you are looking for leftovers. I happen to love leftovers so I'm satisfied with it but they are quite expensive. That's largely my main drawback with this place but it's only because I see a regular love affair with this food happening and that's unfortunately not an expense I can swing with the price tag on their appetizers. Is that Latinas fault? I'm not sure but it definitely colors my review and so I'm being honest in the review. The bottom line for me is this is a wonderful place to get a pie for two people. I strongly urge you to try out Latinas but do be mindful of what you're ordering, It's easy to over-indulge. read more

As far as Pizza in Flint MI this IS truly as good as it gets! The quality of ingredients used and the amount of toppings on the Latinas Special pizza make it tough to eat more than a few slices. Salad quality is very good and of course the baked lasagna always awesome... GO visit this place when you want great pizza and are tired of the cardboard tasting offerings from all the cheapie pretend pizza chains in the area. read more
