Was looking forward to this pizza all day. Lady opened the box but not her eyes when it was double checked. No sausage! So frustrating! People need to pay better attention to detail. This place has the absolute best Stromboli! They also have the best breadsticks and cream cheese dip! The service is always warm and friendly. Even on a super busy night the service is quick. The service was great. It was fast and ready and hot when they said it would be. The pizza is what I would think of as a purist pizza. The dough seems homemade doesn't have a lot of added stuff like butter and garlic and things like that like many of the popular chains. The tomato sauce is slightly sweet They put just enough to coat the dough but not enough to make it sloppy. I wish the mushrooms were fresh They seem canned The sausage was nice and crumbled. Plenty of cheese. I found myself wanting to add a little red pepper and garlic salt though. It's a little on the pricey side as far as pizzas go in my area but you get plenty of food. And they are not stingy with the toppings. Each topping is only a dollar extra which is a deal. The ranch is fantastic. The garlic bread is good it's super fluffy. Dined in. Overpriced. Really small salads. No dipping trays for sauce, only a small bottle. Sodas are from a 2-liter and you are only allowed to refill it once. Food is good. Not sure if it's any better than any other Italian place. Nothing here stands out or makes the dining experience more appealing. Food took about an hour to be served. read more

Come on Fenton/Flint you have a gem! Family took a detour off of I75 and we were in the mood for food! Mario's didn't disappoint at all! Half bar/ half family style informal dining the ambiance is perfect for a family of 6. We had spaghetti, supreme pizza, baked manicotti, cauliflower cheese less pizza (yeah I know) and salads, apple sauce, coleslaw for the meals. The Supreme Pizza is SOLID! I am not sure how but the crust stays firm under a tremendous amount of meats, veggies, sauce and cheese. One slice is a meal! We of course had some to take home the Large was so much food. After 2 hours in the car and 3 hours on the counter this pizza still had a crispy crust! Supreme Pizza 10! (An 11 would have fresh mushrooms) Sides were a 3- standard family style salads etc Spaghetti and Manicotti- 5 Service was great, friendly and efficient. Our drinks were never empty! Go on.... Ahhhhh there is nothing like a pizzeria whose pizza doesn't disappoint. This is one of those places!!!! Got the Supreme and it was so full of toppings that I was defeated after one piece. This is our new pizza spot in flint! Everything was very tasty. Our waitress worked very hard and was personable. The salad was everything I needed that day. Definitely a home town restaurant. We did takeout and they said it would be 45 min and we sat in the restaurant waiting because we were early and I think the cook took their time for some reason. Hands-down, the best pizza I've had in so long. My professor brought it to class at University of Michigan-Flint. The very next day--in a snowstorm--I was driving from Saginaw all the way to Fenton Road in Flint to get a pizza because it was that good I couldn't get it off my mind. The sauce is perfection. New owners leave something to be desired. Neither are very friendly and they dress like the are going to the gym, flip flops should not be worn in a restaurant unless you're a patron not the owner. Invest in some nicer clothing that shows you are the owners of this fine establishment not like patrons. (Before you say I never worked in a restaurant, I have and several family members own restaurants, so I do know). I will say that we are pleased that the food, atmosphere and staff haven't changed. Still trying to find a good pizza place we ordered from Mario's last week and for the most part they did an excellent job. Finally, a restaurant made my pie exactly as I ordered and with plentiful toppings! The only disappointment was the crust which was hard and chewy as if the dough hadn't been allowed to rise properly. I recommend giving them a try. There were 2 issues of a personal preference nature that I won't mention because it's subjective to my personal taste as I will continue to search but kudos to Mario's for their excellent work. read more

First time there and it was great. We were greeted and sat right away. Food was good, being an Italian kid I am picky about my Italian restaurants. There are many in the area but not many hit the mark with Italian food, more like Americanized Italian. Definitely will be back. Along with that I was tempted by Caitlin and Katie to indulge in their food as well, so I had a portion of the cheesy pasta. AND I was able to get a side of meat sauce to enhance it and it was superb. I give it a 5 star. What a lunch! Katie: The lunch special pizza was so delicious. It was a huge portion and extra cheesy which obviously makes it amazing. The ceases salad came with it and that was pretty good too. The croutons were large and in charge. Was here on a business trip the week of August 16 from St. Louis Missouri area, and happened upon this restaurant. This place has by far, the best pizza that I have ever tasted in my whole lifetime. After a positive experience a few months ago my husband and I tried their takeout. Large pizza with ground beef, pepperoni, onion, olives, ham, and cheese, along with an antipasto. Pizza was suburb - as good if not better than Gina's in Flushing. Between the pizza and antipasto, it took us three days to eat it all. Reheating the pizza was a breeze and the crust remained firm. We live in Davison so the drive was a hike, but we wouldn't hesitate to do it again. read more

Warm service, nice ratio of syrup to fizz in the Diet Coke...and last but not least, FANTASTICALLY generous portions. If you're ordering a calzone and not splitting it, order an "extra small." I'm not going to lie, I left Mario's content, but slightly confused. My father ordered an extra large calzone, which was delicious, to split with my younger sister. I ordered a small, because I wasn't planning on sharing with anyone. The two calzones that came out of the kitchen were both the size of large, silver platters. So, if you're going to get a calzone, maybe you should specifically ask to make it human-sized, instead of giant-sized. I'm not complaining at all for the lack of difference in size though, I got more for my buck. The calzone was delicious, and I'm definitely planning on going back to the restaurant when I'm in town again. Our waitress was great, and was able to joke with all of the customers easily, and in a way where we all felt at home. Once again, I failed to take pictures. That may have been a good thing, considering that there were nine people all with different dishes in my party. Just trust when I say that everything looked and tasted amazing. read more

Back in the late 60's, early 70's my Dad would bring home a pizza every Friday after work. It was always the same, Pepperoni and sausage. Sadly, I moved away in the early 80's. After returning to the Flint area after 30+ years, I rediscovered Mario's pizza.
