However I feel they add too much cheese and sauce on my eggplant it doesn't really taste like I'm eating eggplant but just cheese with sauce. My only big problem was the bathrooms and though they weren't awful and dirty they don't really look good for your restaurant if they look a bit dingy and unappealing. Still one of our favorite places! Had to try the meatball trio as an appetizer. The sauce is amazing and the meatballs are dense and delicious. Then we got our favorites - chicken parm with meat sauce (our fav) and chicken piccata. Our server was very friendly and they went out of their way to get us a booth. The dinning room is inviting and comfortable. The decore and old fashioned pictures are interesting to look at while eating. We got seated fast and the hostess and wait staff were attentive and friendly. The saĺads and bread, with garlic butter, were delicious and the menu had a variety of good choices to satisfy my craving for pasta. The only thing I didn't care for was the sweetness of the sauce. Stopped here on our way to Mackinac Island for my birthday trip. The restaurant is very quaint and nice. Taylor was our waitress and she was amazing! She was friendly, informative and attentive and made us love the place. Their lunch portion of the food is extremely generous and very tasty. A salad came with our lunch and she refilled it for us. We seldom have desserts but we had to have the cannoli and it did not disappoint! We would highly recommend giving this amazing place a try. You won't be disappointed! read more

Recently checked out Italia gardens while visiting home. Growing up, there were a ton of great local Italian restaurants in the area. Italia gardens was brought up in those conversations. So I decided to grab takeout and see how they were . I got the lasagna dinner, it comes with a giant loaf of bread and salad. The entire meal came out to around 16 dollars. loved the garlic butter with the bread, extremely good. The lasagna was ok, the sauce is a little too sweet in my opinion. If you do order It, make sure you add a meatball. It definitely needed a lot more meat or some kinda of substance. But overall, its a local restaurant and it's worth checking out if you're a anti chain person like myself. read more

Starting with the unlimited salad and bread. The salad was family style and was more than enough for two. The pasta we had was very good. The sauce was tasty. It had a nice sweet/tangy to it. OMG!!! This was a random stop for us on our way back toward Ann Arbor from the insanity of shopping at Birch Run on Black Friday. What a surprise and delight this place was! We were seated right away in this rustic Italian restaurant. The salad was fresh, the wood oven bread with butter (and a side of Alfredo sauce) was warm and delicious. I had Chicken Parmesan with a side of spaghetti with meat sauce. The sauce was an unexpected delight of a sweeter sauce with a hint of basil. For the Chicken Parm it was a real chicken breast (none of that frozen pressed stuff other Italian restaurants try to pass off as chicken) and smothered with mozzarella baked to perfection. The side of spaghetti was half the plate and cooked perfectly. My friend had the chicken tetrazzini and said, "there's so much better in this sauce it's heavenly." The portions are large and the prices are very fair. Morgan was our server and she was fabulous. She was knowledgable about the menu and made food recommendations. She was very friendly and also courteous about approaching the table. We will definitely be back during our semi-annual trek to Birch Run. Oh yeah, the cannoli didn't suck! (Just say'n!). read more

We stopped here 2-3 yrs ago and loved it and have been talking about going back ever since. We made that special trip (3hrs) today and we're disappointed. Bread & parmesan parsley butter were great Salad was good also I had the pick two pasta. I picked cheese manicotti and cheese ravioli. The sauce was very very sweet but the pastas were good. My husband had a scicilian sausage dish which came with spaghetti. He agreed sauce was very sweet. He was excited because it said sausage was made in house. Unfortunately the sausage didn't have alot of flavor and was very dry (see pics). We brought a pizza home for tomorrow but it looks like it's the same sausage so we'll see. The pizzas only come one size (12"?) and didn't really say what size it was. Pretty disappointed especially after reading other reviews saying how great it is. No return visit will happen. read more

This is my first visit in a few years and Italia Gardens is still as good as ever. The salad and bread starters are superb. The bread was complimented by a whipped, garlic butter that is seasoned just right. I had the seafood pasta and it was packed with flavor. It had tons of big shrimp and scallops. The fresh Parmesan on top was a great addition. The gentle music playing and the soft lighting makes you feel like you are having a real dining experience. This is the type of restaurant that you want to look nice for. Optional of course, but having a nice and dressy grown up dinner out here can really relax you. Or maybe it's the wine that relaxes you. I visited recently and was not pleased but not disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the service was relatively decent, and the staff was friendly, but my table's dinner entrees were only ok. They were not overly outstanding or unique as to have a special twist to stand out from the rest, yet they were still pretty good. However, they were, unfortunately, slightly greasy. On the other hand, two key things made up for the only average main: firstly, the appetizers. I ordered their three-meatball starter, and it was excellent. The meatballs were golf ball-sized (smaller for the price), but quite a lot flavor for the size of the morsel, but there was a lot of sauce. The sauce, while overly plentiful, was delicious. The best thing I ate was their fresh-baked table roll and garlic butter. If I could eat just this, I probably would if they let me. The other saving grace was their Tuesday special: buy one regular dinner and two drinks, get one (from a set list) for free. I would recommend dining in on Tuesday and get extra bread if you can. read more

It's been a long time since I have gone to Italia Garden, so maybe this is just about nostalgia. Two of my favorite plates are gone. No more mussels in marinara, no more pasta with Gorgonzola. I understand businesses change their offerings based on customer demands and I have not been here, so I guess I better not complain. So here is what I found on my latest visit, attempting to not let my disappointment show through, but I am not sure I can. Service was good. Not stellar, but good. Ambience slightly noisy, but appropriately so. The pizza sausage diavolo was ok, as was the pasta with tomato sauce. Overall, everything was ok. Not great, not bad, just ok. Visited here tonight without a high expectation as I have never been a fan of the other locations in the past. Service provided by Lissa this evening was excellent as were our food choices. Robin had the salmon entree, and I had some pasta with spicy red sauce. We were both happy with our selections. The bread served was good although it would have been much better had it been served warm. Salad was very good made from fresh ingredients and salad dressing was excellent as well.. Best damn Italian in Genesee County. Anyone who even alludes to Olive Garden should not be trusted. This is a Flint institution, been around since 1931, and a constant local favorite. Where to begin, maybe the wood fire made bread which is amazing, especially with their magical garlic butter. The dinner salad is fantastic, fresh with lots of extra ingredients, and a homemade Italian dressing. The service is more than prompt, I felt bad because my dad is a bit high maintenance, but damn didn't Sierra take her time and be patient with my dad. The food was amazing as always; dad got chicken Alfredo, looked perfect with a smooth cream sauce he loved it, mom got spaghetti and looked better than an advertisement, and I got the lasagna and ravioli, super delicious and well made. Portions are generous, the entire serving staff was working hard and I can only imagine how hard the cooks in the back were working. I noticed how all of the front of house staff were really engaged with their tables and made me that much more appreciative. I have been coming to this place for over 2 decades and every time I step in I remember why. Consistently awesome dishes and an always friendly staff, and honestly the price is amazing for the level of service and food. Shout out to Ms. Sierra, she was super friendly and kind and helpful to my sometimes high maintenance parents. She went with the flow and kept everyone happy. By the time we left, her section, as well as the entire restaurant was getting killed. She never batted an eye or seemed annoyed, she made the experience 100% better, if I had my wish, she would be at every restaurant I dine at.
