I've been driving past this place for years and I regret it so much! My wife was craving a breakfast burrito so we stopped in here and ordered one. I had a question about the different dishes they had but the woman answered my questions and she was nice and patient with me. She got the Bacon Burrito and I got the Costillas de Puerco en Salsa Verde (pork ribs in green salsa) the Bacon Burrito was packed and filled with flavors. It was exactly what my wife was craving and it was so big she couldn't even finish half! The Costillas de Puerco en Salsa Verde was served with beans, rice and tortillas. It was so good, the pork was tender and it also had nopales (cactus) in it. It was a nice meal honestly. The inside was a grocery store with fresh produce and everything you would need for a home cooked meal. There we're lots of party decorations all over the walls and plenty of sweet treats. The cashier ( probably the owner's daughter) was in the worst mood!!! When I asked how her day was she responded with a way? The best marinated meats my husband and I have purchased. We haven't had their hot food aside from grabbing rice and beans to go with the marinated meat by purchase from the counter. We stopped in for Taco Tuesday as neighbors had recommended this place. It is relatively easy to find on a less busy street in Escondido. Street parking can be challenging to find if you're looking to park right in front of the store. If you mind walking a little, there is a bit of street parking around. Small tables on the sidewalk provide a place to enjoy the tacos right there. Otherwise most patrons opted to take their food to go. The market was not busy when we arrived but we probably missed the lunch rush. A friendly young lady assisted us behind the cash register, which is where you order upon entering the store. The adobada tacos come with cilantro, onion, guacamole and a side of salsa so you will be asked if you want all of that. We only ordered adobada tacos as that is our family's preferred taco meat with all the . The meat had the right color but lacked the flavor that we've come to expect from shops like TJ Tacos, maybe because the salsa comes on the side and I forgot to pour any on. The price was right since we were there for Taco Tuesday. Each small-sized one was only $1.99. They do offer larger tacos for a different price. Each takeout box had a roasted chile which was a nice touch. The corn tortillas were ok, sturdy but a bit dry, reminding my mom of why she prefers flour tortillas. Many years ago a lady at one of these stands offered me sugar cane and I refused because I never tasted it. She peeled it and cut it into small pieces with lime and chile on top. Searching for a late night snack and I remembered this location for its burritos. I was pleasantly surprised to see that there were major improvements made to the market. It was bright and very clean. And the patrons that were there seemed to be having a great time. The menu is extensive. Order at the register and pickup when done. Worst Carne Asada Fríes Ever!!!!! You Pay 17 dollars for a bunch of fries and a half ass scoop of meat. If they are going to charge up the ass for some carne Asada fries. They should at least be GENEROUS with the meat they add to the Carne Asada fries. Hope they can work on their prices as well. I'm better off going to Mi Ranchito down the street next time. read more

Considering our son that was supposed to bring home some Mexican food after going up Nate Harrison Grade/Mount Palomar after the huge amounts of fresh snow that was dropped, this place definitely hit the spot. When we found out he was not going to be home until later that evening, we decided to turn to Grub Hub and see what still delivers to us out in the middle of nowhere. We had already had a couple of cocktails each and were not willing to drive anywhere and our desire to prepare Mexican cuisine was not gonna happen either. "Hey, Grub Hub still has several options and Latinos Meat Market is one of the restaurants available . . . wanna give it a try?", I said to my wife. We live somewhat remotely, and delivery services out here was always limited to just Round Table Pizza. Tonight we decided to see if Grub Hub was still delivering since Grub Hub (others now also still available) had started delivering here since the beginning of the pandemic. We had concluded that using delivery services was about the same (cost wise) as going out if we order a couple of cocktails at the restaurant; plus, we don't have to worry about getting a DUI. Using Grub Hub we identified a couple of other Mexican cuisine restaurants that provided delivery. We decided to try Latinos as another option since we really only wanted some kind of takeout Mexican fare. We ordered a Carne Asada plate, a Quesadilla and a 3-pack of Taquitos. Everything arrived still pretty hot (hot enough). What would have cost about $25 (nowadays) at a local drive-through, cost us about $55 including $10 in tips. For sitting home in our comfortable environment while watching movies and drinking our cocktails in our pajamas, that seemed like a bargain price. Latrino's is standard American Mexican fare done just about as right as any other Mexican takeout. The order was filled properly and included everything in the bags (red and green salsas, napkins, forks AND spoons). Just upon opening the bags, I had realized I didn't order any carrots. Damn!!! A long time friend and new neighbor showed me this place recently. She loves to go there to get her taco fix and some goodies she cannot easily get at other places. We ate there and had some fruit drink that was on the sweet side. The store itself was pretty common standard Mexican grocery store, not finding too many veggies or fruits like other bigger markets. I think they focus more on the to go or sit and eat part, although they have a pretty good section of meats at the end of the store. Oh, shit. My stomach is growling demanding some tacos, but it's literally 11:23pm right now and Latino's is closed. Latinos Meat Market is one of the most underrated places here in Escondido. The location is a bit out of your way but I guarantee you it's very much well worth the excursion. Their inventory is wide and vast. You have options of high quality produce to choose from, an entire aisle of refrigerated drinks galore, and a menu that would put Cheesecake Factory to shame (jk Cheesecake Factory has an encyclopedia for a menu). The best part of Latino's though, aside from their friendly service and great quality items-- shhhh, are you ready?? THEIR TACOS!!!!! I have a feeling that Taco Tuesday was created FROM Latinos Meat Market. I feel like they commemorate a weekly holiday strictly from and out of this market! I swear they have the most perfect composition: the quality of the tortilla, it's soft and easy to chew along with the savory and tender meat of your choice (I personally recommend their carnitas, it is unparalleled.) This place used to be a favorite of mine for some Mexican food on my way home in the evening. Usually I'd pick up a burrito or some tacos. Over the years, the quality and service has degraded to the point where I won't stop there anymore. Burritos used to be large and generous with portions...not anymore; they're at least 25% smaller. Their prices increased (like everywhere else--after Covid), but the quality diminished. The workers that cook, the food are usually kind and helpful. Except for two younger ladies who have no sense of humor and look like they don't want to be there. I always tip a couple of extra bucks every time, but when you ask for extra salsa they give you a blank stare like they never heard you. read more

Worst tamales I have ever had. The cheese in the cheese tamales was like rubber. The masa had not flavor, very bland.

We found this place on Yelp and with all the positive reviews we had to stop by. We were glad we did. I ordered the Birria plate, would have taken a pic but I forgot and ate all of it before I could take a pic. It came with rice and beans and they give you 4 tortillas. They gave me cilantro with onions, limes and it included rice and refried beans for my plate. It was very yummy and I ate it up. My husband ordered the burrito with asada, he liked it also. The food tasted freshly made. I remembered to take a pic of our carne asada tacos before we gobbled them up. First off, I usually cook home cooked traditional mexican food everyday. Tonight I was exhausted and decided to treat ourselves to tacos. OMG they were delicious! The meat was properly seasoned (adobada), the onion & cilantro were fresh, the green and red salsa were delicious. I bought a bag of chips (also made there). Super crispy, light & salty (like good salty). And the guacamole salsa was perfect. Honestly, I have high standards and usually wouldn't buy food I can make at home. These tacos hit the spot. The two best things about the place are the carne para asar and the carnitas. It's in an amazing location and the staff is friendly. This is my favorite Mexican market in Escondido. The prepared carne asada is the best you can get without jumping to the Kennedys Karne price range. I got it to take to a family reunion and had it marinating on the drive. After the 2 hour drive, I had the best carne asada in my life. Whenever anyone asks me for carne asada this is my go-to. The second best thing they have are the carnitas. If you've ever made carnitas then you're probably aware of how much work is implied. If you ever want to skip the process and go straight to the best result possible, come here and you won't be disappointed. The interior of the place is a standard mexican market. Yes, the shelves and counters are as tight of a fit as the city will allow, but this means that they'll have most things you want plus a restaurant in the size of a 7-11. Everything is intuitively laid out and even though it might feel cramped it is easy to get to. As a plus, once your done shopping you can get your tacos. The location is also great. The store is on Grand and has convenient street parking. Recently that hasn't been so great because of the addition of Swamis Cafe and the increased amount of cars there, but I'm sure it'll go back to normal soon. The meat market is basically a to go deli inside of a supermarket. Bought a local flavor deal of $10 for $20 worth of food so I got the family combo. Get to choose a lb of meat (pork, chicken or beef) and it came with fresh tortillas, rice, beans and salsa. Kind of a language barrier since I don't speak Spanish well anymore but workers were friendly. Would come back if it wasn't so hard to find because of one way streets in downtown esco. FYI you pay with the man at front register for deli food and other groceries (pretty much everything else). read more

I visited this place for the first time over the weekend. I was drawn in by their large "99 cent tacos" sign that was out on the curb. This place is mainly a market but also has a small taqueria on the side when you walk in. I ordered one carnitas taco and one carne asada taco. Both tacos were good, but the carnitas taco was especially juicy. They piled on the cilantro and onions just the way I like it, and the lady even gave us a free side of guacamole! I feel like that never happens. The tacos had a ton of meat in them, probably enough to split up the meat into two tortillas and make two tacos out of one. You definitely get your money's worth here. There's a few tables inside where you can eat, but it's not exactly what you'd call a nice atmosphere. Just a couple of things to keep in mind though: I probably wouldn't want to visit this place after dark, and you should probably expect to give your order in Spanish when you come in here. read more

I ordered the machaca plate... That was probably the best machaca I have had as of late. The bell peppers and the onions were nice and crunchy. The tortillas smelled lovely. I didn't end up eating them because I'm currently trying out a carbless diet. They had 2 different green salsas and they were both full of flavor. They hooked it up with extra guac and sour cream since I couldn't eat the rice and beans for no additional charge. I highly recommend this place. I can't wait to try their other menu items. read more
