Finally a good coffee place to stop at on the way to Austin. Stopped around lunch time so went in to check it out. Has actual hot food in addition to pastries/ sweets. The turkey panini has pesto and avocado. Was a nice easy lunch that wasn't fast food in the area. Cold brew with different cold foam options. I believe there was a drive-thru window we didn't notice initially. Would def go back when passing through.

A nice home feeling cafe will multiple healthy options. I was with a large group of approximately 20 people and the atmosphere was quiet and welcoming. The service was with a smile and the server was very informative about the various desserts. I got the Hazelnut Cappuccino, Breakfast Bowl and the Buttermilk Bar. All of the food was fresh. I will come back to try others items soon.

We went here looking for a bite on our trip East along IH-10. We like to eat local, so when this place came up on Yelp, we were ready to give it a go. The inside is modest but has plenty of space. They have a lunch special which includes half a sandwich, a cup of the soup of the day, and a drink for $10. Pretty good deal! And we didn't have to wait long for our lunch. The sandwich was good, but the soup was exceptional. The soup that day was poblano chicken, and you could tell it was made that morning. I love fresh ingredients! After we ate, we got a coffee. My brother is a coffee snob, and he really liked the coffee. I highly, highly recommend this place if you're in or driving through Columbus. Treat yourself to a good meal!

Lovely little, popular, coffee shop. Americano was creamy and tasty as was the oat milk latte and quiche. Other breakfast choices and lunch is available too. Counter service was quick and efficient.

A charming, bustling, yummy bakery and cafe. Freshly baked bread for yummy sandwiches and delicious baked goods. Loved the latte pecan bar! Perfect spot between houston and austin to take a breathe, sip, chomp.

On Feb. 15th I asked the girls at Columbus Animal Clinic if there were any good sandwich places in town. My husband and I travel the US full-time in an RV and I had taken our dog into town to get a yearly check-up. Over the last two weeks we've fallen in love with the little town of Columbus. The girls at the animal clinic mentioned Latte had great paninis. I ordered the 1/2 and 1/2 special - a Turkey Avocado Ranch panini and a salad, with sweet tea. Everything was delicious. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is because the employees were not very friendly. I think I got there too close to closing time and it showed. No one smiled, no one said thank you. No one asked if everything tasted good or anything. I ate my sandwich and salad and hurried out.

Nice hipster spot with a chill vibe located in Columbus Texas. Was pleasantly surprised at the large selection of different coffee beans they had to offer. I ordered an iced coffee and a turkey, bacon, avocado panini from the friendly staff. The iced coffee was very good, but the panini wasn't my favorite. The focaccia bread was good, but I didn't think there was a high enough filling:bread ratio. I will probably come back for the coffee if I find myself driving through the area again. read more

I'm originally from Columbus and now live in Chicago. I'm in town visiting family and my mom told me to check this place out. I've been back for coffee or food every day since. I've enjoyed the turkey, bacon, and avocado panini for lunch as well as the bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich for breakfast. Both were delicious and done just right. Also, their lattes are good and I was happy to find out that they have soy as an option. Please support this local coffee shop so we can enjoy it for years to come! :D read more

This place is a gem! Tons of options for both food and drink with friendly faces behind the counter. I got a Mexican chocolate flavored brewed coffee and a veggie panini sans the cheese and mayo and it was the perfect fresh and healthy breakfast. Will definitely be back! read more

This is the best place to Stop For Coffee and Sandwich if you're taking I-10 from Houston. You get off and it's right there. Great coffee and sandwiches, and sweets too. Wifi. Independently owned and operated by a local who has made it really charming. Not a linoleum cafe in any way. Charming! read more

Latte is always a good stop for me before I work for the weekend! I like it sit in here and work on school work on Friday and Saturday evenings. I enjoy that the staff is almost always the same when I am there. I usually just get a triple americano but as a Pine Cove Staffer we have staff getting all kinds of drinks and lattes all the time. They are quick and have a dive through! Very clean and plenty of seating! Always fun supporting this central Texas business! read more

Wouldn't stop here for coffee. Ordered a cappuccino. It was not close to a cappuccino based on espresso to milk ratio.. probably closer to a latte. Barista couldn't figure out how to get the portafilter in the espresso machine. Didn't wipe clean the milk steamer after use. Not a good sign. If you're looking for at least decent espresso drinks this isn't the spot. Food pics look good. We did not eat. read more

I don't know about you but I love finding little hole in the wall gems. Latte Cafe is one of those little gems. While on our way to Austin, my husband and I decided to pop in for lunch. I had a green tea along with a Garden Quiche and side salad. My husband had a Chicken Salad sandwich with a side of pasta salad. Both of our trays were picked clean. The fresh, flaky and buttery quiche was phenomenal! I cannot speak for my husband but we have already decided we will be taking random trips to Columbus (from downtown Houston) for lunch! Dropped in by chance the other day. How lucky we were to stumble on such a good coffee shop! The prices are reasonable, and it was busy with locals coming in for lunch. When locals love it, you know it's good. I got a medium iced chai and immediately regretted it. I really should've gotten the large! It was so good! I don't know if they put cocaine in the mix but I've never had a chai that good before. Anyway, my friend got 5 shots of espresso over ice. Our bill came out to like, $8. Which wouldn't have covered much if we'd gone to a bigger coffee chain. I didn't try any of the food here, but it smelled great in there... and as I mentioned there were many people enjoying lunch at the time read more

This place is a bit off of the highway but it is worth the stop! The breakfast paninis are excellent!!! They were very fresh and tasty. Plus, I'm a big fan of the extra veggies they added. I would definitely stop here again if traveling back and forth between Houston and San Antonio. The coffee tastes very good too! Parking was a bit difficult as they were fairly busy during the lunch rush, but we all know that is a good sign. This place has a small hometown feel. FYI, they do have a drive through! read more

I stop here on my way from Austin/San Marcos to Houston and love it! I've gotten the salted caramel latte, mocha, peppermint mocha, caprese sandwich, and the spinach and cream cheese quiche. Everything was very on point. So happy I can have tasty food like this as a vegetarian in a small Texas town. Really brightens up my drive! and the service has always been friendly and accommodating. I could probably spend half a day in here trying their menu. Plenty to choose from and the coffee is good. Don't have to add anything sweet to the coffee which means its made right. Not bitter. I believe they use a toddy to make the coffee. I personally like toddys as that brew method makes stronger coffee. Of course its nice to have a bit of sweet added to the coffee. I think whatever you order you will be ok with it. read more

Very nice, local cafe that we found en route on our drive from Houston to Austin. The Yelp discount gave us an excellent incentive to check this place out. The homemade pastries were fresh and delicious. My friend had a delicious toasted panini, which she claimed was the best in Texas. The lovely waitstaff offered us a yummy, homemade chocolate chip cookie. I'm so glad that we discovered this fantastic hideout, in part thanks to Yelp! read more

My husband and I were doing what it appears most every other reviewer of Latte on the Square was doing - driving through Columbus from one place to another. I was in need of coffee! Fortunately my husband found Latte on the Square on Yelp and we popped right in midday on a Monday. It's a small coffee shop but at the time of my visit there were three other patrons already seated and there was still plenty of room for us to sit if we weren't itching to get back on the road. I ordered a large iced mocha and after paying $4.75 the barista got to work and I started perusing. I instantly regretted placing my order so quickly. There were yummy muffins and scones and ice cream and sandwiches and all kinds of deliciousness I could have ordered, but I didn't want to place a second order so I took my drink and we left. But mark my words, I will be back for those treats. I'm glad I let the iced mocha sit for a while to let the chocolate meld with the coffee as it tasted much better once it was all mixed together. Pretty tasty and a large portion, even though I cringed at the $4.75 price tag (coffee is an expensive habit). If you're looking for this place, it's on the left in the shopping center just past the Whataburger. We went down one building too far and into the medical center, but made a U-turn and came back one building. Definitely stop in on your way by - it's a nice place to grab a snack or a drink and stretch your legs. read more

This place was amazing!!! Stopped in on my way from Houston to Austin. Quaint cafe with a great selection. I had the chicken salad sandwich with pasta on the side. The bread had oregano and some other spices that really made the bread taste amazing. The actual chicken salad was just as yummy and light! The soup of the day was tomato bisque which was equally delicious. They have a great variety of loose leaf tea and a superb green tea matcha drink. This place would be ten stars if I could go that high! Great local business! read more

History

Established in 2005.

From humble beginnings in a small corner store in downtown La Grange, Latte on the Square has grown into a thriving business, with two locations. When Laurie Pereyda opened Latte On The Square in 2005, the coffee shop had just a few tables and a tiny kitchen, but it won a loyal following of customers with its great coffee and family-friendly atmosphere. In 2011, Laurie moved the business a few doors down to a much larger building. This time she had the space to realise her dream of baking all the produce from scratch and offering a wider selection of items, such as delicious cakes and cupcakes, soups, salads and homemade breads. Now the only sweet treat not made on the premises is the Bluebell ice cream and Never one to rest, Laurie decided to open a new store in Columbus, this time offering drive thru for those on the go as well as the usual, more relaxed, coffee-shop experience. The new store is due to open in June 2012 and will be run by Christina, Laurie's daughter.

Upon walking in we were happy to see the inside was plenty large and smelled really good at breakfast time. Service was super attentive and the baristas were super helpful in helping us decide what to order. They made recommendations on iced speciality coffees before we ordered. I took them up on their recs and we got the Nutty Jerry which was a sweet but delicious hazelnut iced coffee. We also got the County Jail which was the perfect sweetness of sweet cream mixed with their house cold brew. Wooowee they were delicious and sweeeeet! We really enjoyed the coffee blends they use that are made in-house. This is real good coffee, y'all! I browsed the bagged coffee they had displayed and decided to bring home a 12oz bag of Saddle Bronc that lasted me a solid month of morning drinking at home. This is a medium roast and very impressionable for my palette. There is plenty of room here to read, get some work done, and catch up with friends and family here. The decor and seating areas were very welcoming. Thanks for the delicious coffee while we were visiting Columbus and for having such a great selection of bagged coffee (and Kcups!) to select to bring back home.

I usually call in our order when we are about 20 minutes away from our stop. Everytime I call in the order the person on the other end is friendly and repeats back what we order. The convenient store part of Hruska's has a lot of items that you can choose from to purchase and they have clean bathrooms which is a positive. When we get there we park, walk in and head to pick up our food at the counter. It's usually labeled with the ticket stapled to the bag. We then get in line to pay for our food. The line is usually backed up but moves fairly quickly. There is also a small area with tables and chairs that you can sit at and enjoy your meal or sit there if you need a rest. For my meal I usually order a Hamburger which comes with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onions. I usually get mine with mustard. Their burgers are so good and a good size. Overall Hruska's is a great stopping place while traveling. Whether it's for gas, a bathroom break, or if you want to grab something to eat this is a one stop shop place.

Since I was driving back to Austin (an hour+ away) I decided to get through all of what was on my plate and not take any leftovers home but I could've!!! I really loved their decor and the long large and beautiful wooden community table they had near the back of the cafe. I saw a whole group of women (more than 6 of them!) gathered around, chatting, and having tea. I assumed they were locals because like them, I would be hanging out here all day with my laptop and/or friends all day if I could. Highly recommend coming in and checking out what you can find to have while here. From coffees, breakfast, lunch, and even refreshing tasty sparkling drinks you will find something you want to have and probably keep coming back for in the future.
