Nice and quick little ice cream stop on the way back home. Merlin approves of the pup cup here. Kids loved the ice cream too. Kind staff.

The open and tidy environment had plenty of seats, perfect for sipping coffee and enjoying our breakfast sandwich. While the coffee arrived promptly, we had to wait a bit for our egg and cheese biscuit, which I didn't mind at all because it gave me a chance to check out all the decorations. The customer service was neither rude nor friendly. There was no warm greeting, just a straightforward, "What can I get you?" The egg and cheese biscuit was quite good. It wasn't too heavy or doughy and it was a good size for its price. The coffee was a solid caffeine boost but nothing extraordinary. Besides the fun decor, what really made this place special was the price of an espresso shot - it's just .80 cents! I don't think you'll find anything like that anywhere else these days!

Upon walking in we were happy to see the inside was plenty large and smelled really good at breakfast time. Service was super attentive and the baristas were super helpful in helping us decide what to order. They made recommendations on iced speciality coffees before we ordered. I took them up on their recs and we got the Nutty Jerry which was a sweet but delicious hazelnut iced coffee. We also got the County Jail which was the perfect sweetness of sweet cream mixed with their house cold brew. Wooowee they were delicious and sweeeeet! We really enjoyed the coffee blends they use that are made in-house. This is real good coffee, y'all! I browsed the bagged coffee they had displayed and decided to bring home a 12oz bag of Saddle Bronc that lasted me a solid month of morning drinking at home. This is a medium roast and very impressionable for my palette. There is plenty of room here to read, get some work done, and catch up with friends and family here. The decor and seating areas were very welcoming. Thanks for the delicious coffee while we were visiting Columbus and for having such a great selection of bagged coffee (and Kcups!) to select to bring back home.

A must stop if you are traveling between Houston and Austin on Hwy 71. I'm usually a Bucees guy,…read morebut this place specializes in something that the beaver doesn't. Kolaches! Arguably one of the greatest foods ever invented. Atleast in my world. How can you go wrong with bread filled with sweet or savory fillings? Hruska's is about halfway between Houston and Austin and a perfect rest stop to fill up on gas, use the clean facilities, grab a snack or indulge in their amazing baked goods. They are steeped in history and have been around for decades passing along the family recipes. It's obviously improved structurally over the years from a country store and looks like a modern gas station now. It's always pretty busy every time I have stopped in, but they are a well oiled machine and keep the masses moving with excellent customer service. They have all your gas station essentials like snacks and beverages. What sets them apart is their bakery. Here, they label their kolaches as the traditional fruit filled variety. I like them, but they are never my first choice. I love the ones with meat inside. Here, they label these as pigs in a blanket. They have a large variety of both. I usually go for a regular sausage and cheese, but over here, they sell a delicious pan sausage kind. On top of all their sweet and savory baked goods, they also sell burgers on the grill. Their burgers have made it to the Texas Monthly Top 50 burger spots. I have yet to try it. Overall, this is an always stop place for me. I highly recommend stopping here to stretch your legs and enjoy a delicious pastry while you're at it. I will definitely be back.

I mean it wasn't as flash as a big town HEB or anything, but I liked it better than the local HEB and Walmart just up the road. This place is disgusting. If you are from Columbus, you know what I am talking about. The store…read morestinks like mold, it is very outdated, and often dirty. The employees are extremely unhappy due to lack of good pay and poor management. The management does not care about customers or their employees. The produce section always has rotten fruits and vegetables on the display, which is extremely unappetizing. The mean section as pieces of green chicken, yes green! Not to mention, it smells horrible....probably a bunch of spoiled meat not kept at the right temperatures. The bakery deli is probably what keeps the store running....since H.E.B. doesn't have one. If H.E.B. opens up a bakery deli I wouldn't be surprised if this place shut down completely. The bakery food is good, but depends on what time you go. One of the workers there named "Guy" is horrible. He is unfriendly to customers and employees alike. You can tell that he is full of himself. The crazy thing is that all of the merchandise here is overpriced compared to their clean, friendly competitor H.E.B. If you are going grocery shopping in Columbus, do yourself a favor and go to H.E.B. instead. This place is dirty, overpriced, and terrible. I am surprised that Brookshire Brothers allows one of their stores to run this way because the one in Halletsville, TX is actually decent.
