I live close to Laughing Bean and it is one of my favorite spots. I recommend it very highly. They have great soups. I call almost every day to see if they have their chili because I stock up on 5 if they will let me take that many. It is award-winning (really) and it goes fast. Their other food is great - lots of great breakfasts, lots of great sandwiches, and more! They have great baked goods, too! I'm not a coffee drinker but their drive-through line is always very busy keeping folks happy! They make me a great range of non-coffee drinks that I love. Good Always A Plus Plus. All the locals Go and where the locals go, is always a piece of cake. The avocado toast on crunchy sourdough (my all time Fav) topped with a perfectly cooked poached egg was so tasty. The place was packed and the staff hustling and bustling but attentive and efficient. First, we were told we could not sit in the back as they were closing it down -- it was lunchtime. It was empty. My kid on the spectrum prefers to sit in the back of places, so this was a bummer off the bat. Not a dealbreaker, but instead, we were given the table right by the door. When the waiter brought out the drinks, I thought the iced tea looked weird. CLOUDY. It was sour, too. The sandwiches were terrible. Who makes a BLT with shredded lettuce and dried-out bacon? The bread was also DRY and so very thin. The Italian sandwich was even worse with cubed meat, the aforementioned shredded lettuce, and on a grocery-store bun. The soup of the day was cream of cauliflower. There was no cream in the soup; instead, it was so watery that I could tell across the table that it was disgusting. The floor was filthy and the menus had crusty food on them. I have never left a bad review for any restaurant, ever, but this experience was wild. I'm a pretty big fan of Laughing Bean. While my review is based solely on the breakfast they serve, everything I've had on the menu, including the Eggs Benny, the Corned Beef Hash, the Big Boy Burrito, or the Chicken Fried Steak, have all been excellent. They used to have an issue with getting the orders out when the said they would be ready, but as of the last handful of times I've been, it hasn't been an issue. Every so often you get an overcooked egg on the Eggs Benny, or a small order mistake like a biscuit instead of toast, but they've gotten better about it. The service has always been really friendly, and the prices are pretty reasonable for how much food you get. I can't speak too much to the ambiance since I've never been inside (always gotten it to go, they have a great drive thru!), but it looks nice from the window! If I was going to give a little creative criticism, I'd say that at times, the presentation of the to go orders isn't the best, as if someone tipped a dish on on it's side, or put it in the bag at a 90 degree angle, etc. Obviously doesn't affect taste, but there are times when an Eggs Benny has been smashed together by gravity. read more

They are a paprika place (you know what I mean), but if you are morally opposed to paprika, either just ignore it or order without. Both the biscuit itself and the sausage gravy are the real meal deal. You can't go wrong. They have a huge selection of omelets and various combinations of meat, eggs, home-grated hash browns, and did I mention the biscuits and gravy? They offer both an Eggs Benedict and its California cousin, plus they promise a real corned beef hash. Maybe I'll sample that next time. For those like my wife who prefer sweet over savory to break their fast, there are plenty of options available. My wife ordered the crepes with a seasonal fruit filling - peach in this case. If you happen to read this review after peach season, it sucks to be you. I am picky about peach dishes, and even I fell in love with the clearly fresh peach mixture inside the 3 huge crepes. My mocha was good and their baked goods counter was appropriately tempting. My wife picked up a slice of peach coffee cake because, well, it was peach. (That's how she rolls.) Clean, great welcome when we entered the dining room. Was escorted to a table for 2 and asked about morning drinks. We had 2 coffees and they arrived before I could say much about the copper clad round table. I ordered a Vegetarian Omelet that took very little time to bring steaming to the table. I have never received food served this quickly in McMinnville, and on a Sunday Morning. I was impressed the Omelet came steaming from kitchen and was steaming every time I cut a bite off, it stayed that way until the last mouthful. Coffee was good and refilled several times. Such good food and a great place to take you family for breakfast! We come here every time we visit our family in McMinnville. It never disappoints. They could use a little more help with servers because our server the past couple times we've been there was spread way too thin, but all in all it is a great place to eat. What's nice is that if the server is too busy you can go up to the counter and the staff behind the counter are very friendly and helpful and will get you whatever you need. read more

This is a busy little coffeehouse that also serves food and does so with great efficiency. Obviously a favorite of the local neighborhood. I had the eggs Benedict served on a biscuit. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the ham was generous and not too salty m, and the hollandaise sauce was quite good. This came with hashbrowns, which were perfectly cooked and not greasy or salty. In fact, I had to sprinkle just a little salt on them to make them as I like them. I also ordered a hot chai tea, which was just as I like it, not too sweet. Staff was very friendly, but busy, so I did have to pop up from my table to give my order at the counter as the small staff was serving drive-through customers, but they happily took my order in stride and delivered it promptly. I honestly really didn't like the food. Tasted really processed and greasy, and even the scone I got tasted wrong (it actually tasted gross). After reading all the great reviews we figured we couldn't go wrong! Sadly, I was very disappointed. The eggs were good, but that is about it. Our hash browns were soggy and my toast was like biting into a crouton. The chicken fried chicken was extremely tough and hard to chew. We ordered a side of bacon and were given 2 pieces for $5. I expected 3 or 4 like other restaurants. The servers were nice enough but seemed to lack experience. We were able to tell that they were not fond of one customer just by their actions and attitudes, not to mention the subtle double middle finger salute to him. Maybe we were there on an off day? We just had the single worst breakfast we have had in any restaurant in McMinnville. Things started off well and we were quickly seated and waited on by our server, coffees poured and meals ordered. That is where the positives ended. Whilst waiting for our food, we observed 2 other tables send food back because something wasn't correct, but hey, that happens. Then, our server came round to top of our coffee from a carafe that must have been sitting around for a while as it was only tepidly warm. After a surprisingly short wait, our server brought our food, and that is where the wheels fell off the bus. My eggs benedict looked great, but upon tasting, the sauce was cool, flavorless and watery, muffins cool, hash browns a cold, soggy mess that resembled lumpy mashed potatoes. My wife had ordered chicken fried chicken and was handed a chicken fried steak. So, order number three in the last 15 minutes headed back to the kitchen. She then brought back a plate with everything but the chicken on it while the chicken was being cooked. There was never so much as an apology, much less a discount on the tab. It was just another incorrect order, nothing out of the ordinary apparently. We have dined here before, and while never great, it was acceptable. Today was not. It wasn't super busy, so they can't blame that, it appears to be an acceptance of subpar quality by the staff. read more

Food was great as usual but while seated at the back of the restaurant we noticed a couple of propane tanks not in use. As it is illegal to store tanks inside a business we mentioned it to one of the waitresses. She informed her manager. We were told that the owner would take care of it in a few days. I said that they are illegal and I would be filing a complaint with the local fire department. I should say here that my husband who was with me is the Fire Marshall in another district. He also said it was very illegal. After the manager removed the 4 tanks and a little time had passed I overheard some disparaging remarks from the staff in the front of the business. What a G R E A T experience - 2 days in a row! I'm in McMinnville visiting friends - and had the good fortune of stumbling into the Laughing Bean Bistro. 1st - great service and really good food from scratch. The Americano? Perfect AND, I left my computer case and charger there - got back 1/2 hour before opening this morning - they came and opened the door when they saw me.
