The good: Our party of two were seated right away, it was a Wednesday morning. The food was hot and tasted delicious The bad: The space is tiny and space to sit at a table on the floor is tight! Two waitresses were a little scrambled with the full tables The ugly: The creamer on the table was spoiled. We had to have our cream and coffee/tea replaced and they didn't come til after our food. The table next to us also had spilled creamer. The complaint that has nothing to do with the business: Why do people bring their families out to eat in a tiny place when you have an active cough, and your child has a consistent barking cough that they won't cover. First time here for breakfast. It is always quite busy so I had high expectations. We got th last available table at the time, so we were greeted and seated quickly. It's quite a small place. Our waitress was kind and quick, checking on us frequently. The portion size and prices are fair. The fresh bread and homemade jam was delicious. The food appears to be all from scratch. We came here to grab breakfast after staying the night at the McMenamins Hotel Oregon just down the street. My wife saw they were famous for their French toast and marionberry jam. Neither of us would typically order French toast as an entree but we decided to check them out since after looking over their menu we saw they offered a lot of other yummy looking options. We arrived about 8:30 am on a Friday morning and most of the booths and tables were full. Overhearing conversations during our visit this is definitely a locals place, people knew each other. The interior is pretty small, there could not have been more than about 14 to 16 tables and booths combined. We happened to time it right because we walked in the front door and there were several tables available, we chose one and took a seat. As we sat inside, customers began coming in and we learned there is a waitlist outside which allows people to sign in and the servers frequently step outside to check in with the people outside and bring them in as possible. The menus are already at the table, so we began looking it over. When our server stopped in, she welcomed us and took our drink orders. We asked a few questions about the menu and she was very helpful and accommodated some small tweaks to our orders. My wife ordered the main street scramble with no cheese and fresh fruit rather than potatoes. We also learned they bake fresh white bread daily and we could even see the loaves in the kitchen from our table, they looked incredible. The marionberry jam bottle is already at your table, ready to squeeze onto the delicious bread. I ordered the country fried steak Olivera which included eggs, potatoes and toast. We were shocked how quickly our orders arrived and they were big, beautiful, and looked delicious. Everything tasted as good as it looked, and we both ended our meals with the toast and jam, which was a perfect way to end our meal. We saw several orders of the French toast being delivered to various customers and it looked absolutely incredible! We believe each order includes three large pieces and suggest ordering for your table to enjoy as a breakfast add on/appetizer. Wildwood Café is definitely a must stop when visiting the area. It used to be my favorite restaurant in Mac. Yesterday morning my brother and I had breakfast there and it was horrible! My sausages were ice cold and dry. I told the waitress and she asked if I'd rather have the patty. When the other waitress brought it out. I took one bite and spit it out in my napkin! It had a nasty off flavor and was under cooked! When I went to pay she compt me 50% of my meal but made sure to yell back to the cook "He didn't like that sausage either!" The bacon was finely chopped but stuck together and the onions were fairly big. The potatoes were sliced and fried. They had little flavor, other than potato. Truly one of the best breakfasts I've had in a restaurant. Usually when I get scrambled eggs at a restaurant, they taste like the fake butter spray that they use on the griddle. But here, the eggs just tasted like good scrambled eggs, no fake flavor. The bacon strips were large and meaty, and their famous French toast really is outstanding, especially topped with their homemade berry jam. One thing I was not aware of until the bill came is that they charge for coffee refills -- although their coffee is excellent, I was shocked that my 2 cups of coffee cost $7.50. Despite that one unpleasant surprise, I still give this restaurant a five star rating because of their excellent food and fast, pleasant service. Cute breakfast spot. It's not a large place and they do get busy so be prepared to wait a bit for a table if you go during peak hours. We got lucky, walked right in and there was an open table. The menu had a lot of good items and I didn't know what to choose. We ordered some basic breakfast stuff. Eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns, you can't go wrong with those. Food was great. Service was great. I have no complaints. One of the reasons I really enjoyed eating here is because it reminded me of a restaurant I used to eat at with my grandparents when I was just a small child. If you're looking for the perfect quintessential diner spot, this is it. From the friendly staff, the decorations, and the food, they could not have nailed it more. We had large party of 9 but they were still able to accommodate all of us in a relatively quick time considering the size of the restaurant. Nothing but great things to say about the food. Around the table we tried everything from the country fried steak, to the hot cakes, the omelets, to their French toast; and honestly nothing was a miss. Despite ordering a medium the hotcake would've easily been considered a large anywhere else. Same with their French toast which looked like a 3rd of a loaf of bread! Their country fried steak was absolutely fantastic too. And although they don't do hash like most other diners, their spuds are still absolutely to die for. Oh, my goodness! What a great experience! Went on a Wednesday morning and there was no wait. Traci, our waitress, was AWESOME!! I wanted an iced black coffee. They don't have cold coffee, but Traci engineered a wonderful solution (see pic). She put a cup of black coffee into a pitcher of ice and brought me another full cup of ice!! It was cool enough to pour on the ice when my breakfast arrived. Our bartender the night before had recommended the French Toast so we both got the Double Downtowner - 2 pieces of French Toast, 2 eggs, and meat. I chose bacon, he chose the sausage Patty (it's cooked fresh to order - the links are precooked). Wow! The French toast is huge! Their own fresh bread coated in granola!! So delicious! I was super optimistic when we got here and there were people waiting outside. We were told about 15 min which was more like 30. OK, not great but we had nowhere to be and when it comes to great food we can wait. 3 of us ordered the chicken fried steak as it was a signature dish and 1 person had the mother load. I ordered my eggs over medium and got pretty much over hard. I hate to send things back unless I really can't stomach them and eggs are a pricey ingredient right now. Everyone else's eggs appeared to be perfect, mine were just a fluke. The breading on my chicken fried steak was great. None of us were particularly fond of the gravy wonderful. I was glad to not have had the mother load as the sausage looked anemic. Now the star of the show was the toast with the marionberry jam! It was worth going just for that. We will definitely go back just to buy the jam as they sell it to take home. My husband had coffee which I stole a sip of before ordering which I was glad because it was too weak for me. They do offer things like espresso and other fancy coffee drinks so I'd probably opt for something more along that line if I wanted a coffee drink. Our waitress was extremely sweet. I've been wanting to try it for YEARS, but it's alway packed (it's tiny) on weekends, and we don't live in Mcminnville so we don't get here often during the week... Been here a few years ago but the homemade bread left a memorable impression that coming back here was a priority when visiting my relatives in McMinnville. Customer service was great, the food was delicious and the ambiance is delightful. The "spuds" are cooked perfectly they were golden brown and crispy. I had The Wine Country omelette, two words STRAIGHT FIRE!! Of course i asked for extra garlic. It came with provolone, black olives feta cheese, bell peppers and I think onion?? The waitress brought us an extra slice of homemade fresh bread for my daughter. They forgot to bring my niece her slice of bread. Man it's hard to find a place in McMinnville on a Sunday. I almost went with 5 because it's just the only game in town. I got the country fried steak. It was the first thing in the menu so I figured it had to be good. It met most of my requirements. Didn't taste like freezer. Decent size portion and thickness. Got an N/a on the cut with a fork test. Hard with a plastic fork and I don't think the trip helped. My wife got the scramble. She was a fan but some items were left off and left out. The spuds were good. A nearby pizza place also sells delicious spuds. Not sure if spuds is a McMinnville thing or just coincidence. These spuds were not as flavorful but a little ketchup and salt brought out the best in them. The homemade bread was ok. Pretty but not much substance. The same with the cinnamon roll. Lots of items were left off our order. They blamed poor staffing but as my old boss used to say "dont confuse efforts with results". Bad news, it left a bad impression on me. Yes! Everything about this place is wonderful. The Food is A+ status. The service is A++ (we really enjoyed our server) The decor of this establishment is fun as well. I would have a very hard time finding anything wrong with this Cafe. I look forward to returning. The most impressive part is the quality of food that is prepared here. The food looks just like grandma used to serve. Fresh cut potatoes. Hand breaded chicken fried steak, with gravy the way it should be done. We also added the grilled cheese sandwich (proceeds benefit the food bank) cream cheese, pepper jack, Ham, with jelly. It's delicious, and helps a good cause.
