Went to the new location to try to get an emergency jewelry. The sign on the door says; you have to make an appointment just to make a purchase. That's ridiculous! I'm so disappointed and mad right now. I walked here for nothing. And wasted so much time out of my day. I went to Laughing Buddha for my first cartilage piercing (helix) because of the great reviews, informative website, & social media pages, and it did not disappoint! I was a bit nervous before my appointment, but as soon as I talked to the people here, I was set at ease. Everyone was very calm, friendly, and informative. The service was very clean and efficient. I enjoyed the light conversation I had with my piercer Colin O and how he talked me through the process of getting a new piercing. I'm very pleased with the placement of my piercing; I asked for a small adjustment and he was very accommodating, as well as explained his choices with an insight I appreciate. I got my first ear piercings back in 2002 at the old location on Broadway and my memories were great... I also got septum piercings with a friend at that location in 2016, but once the shop moved and new management took over, the shop declined, hard. The staff is ICE COLD - the man who pierced me was not friendly and his energy was pompous.... the limited selection of jewelry at the shop is extremely expensive and no one seemed interested in helping me, even though I had an appointment and was the only person in there. read more

Bait and switched our service. Not respectful of customer's time or money. Requires more documentation than any other piercer on the planet for a minor. But they're very kind while they're taking advantage of you! Full review: Booked an appointment for my teen to get their ears re-pierced. First appointment we were turned away because Mom's name on her license didn't match her maiden name on the kids birth certificate. (They require both) Their literal quote when booking our second appointment "we'll see if we can get jewelry in, and if we can't we'll re-pierce them. We're completely open after five tomorrow" so we scheduled an appointment for the next day. Today at our appointment they wanted $110 for their cheapest studs and to "try" to put earrings in pre-existing holes. If they couldn't, they wanted to schedule *another appointment* for more money because they "didn't have time to pierce ears", completely the opposite of what they said the day before. They spent more time telling us they didn't have time than it would take to pierce some ears. Can't speak for tattoos, but this is a terrible shop for piercing. Went to another shop in the U District and it was the total opposite -- an absolute pleasure. They didn't require a birth certificate, took a walk-in and got it done in 10 minutes despite being booked for the entire evening. read more

My experience here was amazing. Given everything going on with COVID-19, I was very impressed with how they handled it. Upon arrival I called the shop to let them know that I was there (they also called me the day before giving me instructions on what to do), they gave me further instructions on how to proceed. I walked up to the front where they had a QR CODE that you could scan and finish the documents necessary for the tattoo. From there I got called into the shop where they had hand sanitizer ready and waiting for me, got a temperature check and even got to put my cellphone in this cool UV sanitizer case. The tattoo process was pretty straightforward except my artist, Kendal, had a fancy schmancy sterile gown and I also got a lovely plastic gown thing draped over me lol. I did not doubt the overall cleanliness of the area nor was I anxious about it. Kendal was fabulous as per usual, this is my second piece from her and I love it very much. As a person who swore she'd never get a colored piece done, Kendal continues to prove me wrong. She's got a witty and a bubbly personality, very much a goofball and an amazing artist. I've got a pretty high pain tolerance level but nonetheless I can tell a difference between different tattoo artists and Kendal's got a light hand, so much so I fell asleep both times, wooooops. Overall, if you're looking for a quality place for tattoo with fun, upbeat and super sweet people, I'd go here. Parking is meh but there's a few spots so don't let that deter you. I went in to get my helix and rook pierced. From start to finish, the experience was very professional. The person who showed me jewelry in the beginning was knowledgeable and answered all my questions (I had a lot). They were very friendly! Colin was my piercer, and he was great. He explained every part of the process and talked through the whole thing which made my nerves go down. I have a low pain tolerance and although it still hurt Colin was very quick and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. Overall great experience. I have wanted my nose pierced for literal decades. After reading up on other reviews and practices, I decided to make the appointment. I was beyond terrified, but the front staff made me feel at ease picking jewelry that I would be wearing for potentially a year. As I live in Alaska, coming down and changing my mind wasn't an option. I needed to change out my jewelry after an unrelated incident and the staff was so helpful and helped me to trouble shoot some options. It would have been very easy for them to say "too bad, so sad." During the appointment Colin gently and calmly talked his way through the procedure which was EXACTLY what I needed. And at the end HE thanked ME for trusting him!! I 100% recommend this place! It is very calm and welcoming to those of us who are unsure of what the expectations are or how to go about this. Two of my coworkers and I had been talking for awhile about going together to get new piercings..and we finally decided to go a couple weeks ago! I'm so glad we ended up at Laughing Buddha. I've had quite a few piercings done at various shops and this is easily the best experience I've ever had from start to finish. We were greeted promptly upon coming in and we explained what piercings we were looking to get. The staff first gave us a chance to look at jewelry and pick which pieces we wanted. Their jewelry selection is seriously amazing..we were ogling over the choices for awhile and had a hard time deciding on our options. After this, the staff thoroughly explained the sanitation process for us - I really appreciated this and it made me feel confident that they care about their clients' safety. We failed to make appointments so we had about an hour wait, but their shop has a great atmosphere with large cozy couches to wait on so I didn't mind sitting around for awhile. Our piercer Alex was a guest at the shop so I can't speak to their regular piercer or whoever else guests there, but if Alex was any indication of the quality of their other piercers then I'm sure they are all amazing. He was wonderful. He was really personable and calmed our nerves by being funny and also thoroughly explaining the process and answering any questions we had. It was obvious that he knows what he is doing. Overall an amazing experience at Laughing Buddha! Their prices are pretty on par with other shops at $30 for (most) piercings + the price of whichever jewelry you chose. My new rook piercing is healing well and I couldn't be happier with it. I made an appointment with Lynn to get my nipples pierced and I am SO happy I did. This is the type of piercing that made me a touch nervous to get so I did a lot of research on them, and I ultimately landed on this studio and Lynn. I had Nikki work on my piece and before going in for the tattoo, we had a virtual consultation, which really was easy to communicate throw especially if I had other ideas of what I wanted my tattoo to be. She had a UV sanitizer box (PhoneSoap, I have one at home and would recommend to sanitize your phone and wallet after being outside during Covid or in life lol) and quickly had most things prepped. I liked her input on size and placement adjustment to my tattoo and I am in love with my tattoo. I've gotten a lobe piercing on both sides and 3 helix piercings. All of them have been from Colin. I am consistently impressed with the sanitation practices here, and the care with which Colin walks you through every step of the process. I was somewhat nervous and he took the time to answer all my questions and make sure I was happy with the placements. The receptionist was also very helpful and patient as I picked out my jewelry. The one con is that the jewelry is QUITE expensive. There are a handful of cheap options but the majority of the jewelry costs a good chunk of money. That being said, you'll wear it every day for a year so it's not the worst thing to splurge on. read more

Very disappointed with Laughing Buddha today and my experience/interaction with them on December 6. TLDR; very unhappy with the lack of customer service or care for the customer at this place and it ruined a returning customers relationship with this business. I've gotten all my ear piercings done at Laughing Buddha. They say the customer service will always bring the customer back so I have continued to return as a means of supporting their business. But after today I will be finding a new place to get pierced. It comes down to care for your customer. Tonight I had a piercing appointment that I was able to schedule for tonight after I had paid a deposit and booked for tomorrow as well. In my my mind I should have been able to cancel tomorrows appointment (because I got one for today) and be refunded my deposit and move on. They still got the revenue from a piercing but the piercing was done on a Tuesday instead of a Monday. When you check out for the deposit it says that if you cancel prior to 12 hours before you are fine. I canceled 24 hours in advance in person and Laughing Buddha still kept my deposit. They said the rule magically changed to 72 hours notice to receive a refund on your deposit was now the new rule (even thought that's not reflected upon checkout). The whole thing felt really icky and dirty. The girl at the check in stand had zero care for the customer, zero service recovery, and actually lost their business a regularly returning customer and cost them a 1 star yelp review because they were salty that I was trying to cancel my appointment. She was making up rules, and did nothing to attempt service recovery after she saw that I was getting irritated. It is nothing to them, but something to me and this could have been rectified by refunding my deposit that I clearly gave over 24 hours notice for. Just all around bad, icky situation that really rubbed me the wrong way and gave me such a bad experience. Will not return here. There's other places that actually care about their customers experience. read more

I got a tattoo done here by Erin Ashleigh and I am so pleased with how it turned out. She is a great choice especially for anyone coming in for their first tattoo! She first did a video chat with me where I explained what I wanted my tattoo to look like and showed her some photos, she drew up a couple ideas later and when I came in she showed them to me, she made some changes upon my request, drawing right there in front of me to make sure it was what I wanted! She printed out a couple sizes of stencils so I could see what it would look like and choose a size, she did a thorough job and I plan on coming back for any future tattoos! I chose to get my first tattoo done in Seattle in honor of my mom who passed away almost two years ago from cancer. Seattle was a magical place where her and I would spend girls days at together exploring. She later would drive down to Seattle for her treatments that would last for a few years. I had been watching Damask for a few years and when I went online I found that it had closed and that they combined artists with Laughing Buddha. During my tattoo appointment I found out it is the same owner. YAY! I really wanted Kendall to do my tattoo because of her style. Great realistic and colorful designs. I sent her an email just saying that I wanted a monarch butterfly tattoo with my moms writing in a quote in remembrance of her. Kendall got back to me the next day and let me know when she had an opening and that she would be happy to. This was my first tattoo so I did not know what to really expect. Kendall was nothing but professional, easy to communicate with, and all over amazing through the entire process - especially with all of my questions! She sent my drawing a few days before my appointment. I was nothing but excited to see it! When I got to my appointment and past all of the COVID precautions she was welcoming and just sincerely friendly. She let me use some numbing spray half way through my appointment. I enjoyed talking with her and people watching out the window as I got my tattoo. I am so happy to have a piece of art from her on me forever in memory of my mom. I've been here multiple times over the years to get tattoos and they have always gone smoothly and I love all my work! Tattoos here are always a 5/5 experience. This review is to highlight some amazing customer service by receptionists Garret and Chantel when I went in to get my piercings recently. Garret was very helpful in choosing beautiful pieces (I'm a piercing noob) and Colin did a great job with the piercing process explaining every step and making it as painless as possible. However, the payment did not go as smoothly! For some reason, my cards kept getting declined and I was starting to become very anxious and on a verge of breakdown. Chantel and Garret were SO understanding, comforted me, and really helped me through what could have been a mortifying experience. Eventually, I got that shit paid (yay!) and I left a very happy and relieved customer. This experience has made sure I'm a Laughing Buddha customer for life, no joke! read more

I personally don't recommend getting any piercings here. I got helix and a second earlobe done, and I wish I never did. It's been almost a year, and both of the piercings are not healed yet. I got my other ear lobe pierced with a piercing gun from amazon, and it healed within 3 weeks. I also got other piercings from Slave To The Needle, and all of them healed perfectly in less than 6 months. Not to mention, the ear lobe jewelry fell out while I was working, and I never found it. My helix jewelry also fell out a few times, but thankfully I didn't lose it. The pricing they have for the piercings on the website is off, because the jewelry pieces cost a lot more. Don't make an appointment unless you are willing to spend hundreds on the jewelry itself. Overall, I'm very disappointed.
