Disclaimer I am vegan I am not a non vegan posting about "vegan options"" lol There's a lot of sushi and entree options for a non specifically vegetarian asian spot I went twice in a row Day 1 I went for dinner. Had two rolls and spicy edamame Spicy edamame is pretty spicy. I asked about its ingredients. Evidently A bunch of hot sauces mixed together with chili powder. It also had a slight citrus undertone.. unique and nice. Not my favorite spicy edamame but still good and good quantity to for the price. Appetizer for 1 tho (but I eat a good amount) The two rolls was the veg tempura sub sriracha for mayo and the no meat roll The yam tempura was good. The guy told me no meat roll would have 6 pieces.. I went for lunch the other day and was disappointed that the beautiful nigiri I saw photos of in other reviews is only available for dinner. I ordered the pad thai instead, and it was the best pad thai I've had since visiting Thailand, so I left happy. I went back tonight for dinner and the sushi I had was absolutely gorgeous--they were pieces of art! It was also some of the tastiest sushi I've ever had. My only complaint was that after almost all our food was brought out, it took around 25 minutes to get our final roll. Overall, we had a fantastic experience, and I look forward to returning the next time I'm in Boston. read more

I loveee the food here!! I usually order for delivery, almost everything that I've tried tastes so good and not greasy at all!! What a lucky find! We just happened to be in this area of Boston and were craving sushi. LMC is an outstanding sushi joint. The sushi was very creative and the cuts of fish were so fresh and unique. Came here for the omakase - definitely not the spot if you're a purist but the Thai influence was interesting and the fish was fresh. Homemade coconut ice cream at the end was awesome. Not bad value at 10 courses for $99, and quality was good (especially for Boston!) read more

My new go to place for sushi. I used their online delivery order. It came very fast but I live less than a mile away. Everything was nicely packed not messy unlike other places that deliver. Everything tasted yummy but my favorites were the pad Thai, tempopo and the crab rangoons. The crab rangoons were perfection. read more

When I saw these pictures on instagram & yelp I was super excited to try, however it did not live up to my expectations. $120 for omakase is average to spend for a good omakase experience but this was not worth it. Laughing Monk is a solid sushi spot in the Longwood area, perfect place to stop by for a takeout dinner after work. I got the sushi entree which came with 7 pieces of nigiri, a 6 piece chef's choice roll, miso soup, and salad. I ordered through the website which was very helpful-- you can choose your salad dressing and leave a note if you have any special instructions. The nigiri selection was great and I got a solid roll, I believe it was a mix of tuna salmon avo. A place to go if you want to up your sushi game a lil . Laughing Monk is definitely the first restaurant of its kind that I've tried. Not only is the Japanese-Thai combo rare, nigiri specials are so beautifully plated and uniquely made. (We decided to only get Japanese dishes because we planned to get Thai the next day ). Recommended Nigiri: Dragon Seed, Golden Naga, Bangkok Dynamite, Monk's Chef Special Nigiri (chef picked 5 pieces nigiri) To-die-for Dessert: Monk Coconut Ice Cream I'd recommend going more than an hour to closing because they will attempt to kick you out when it strikes closing time. This was a little off-putting as they turned lights on to max brightness and start cleaning the entire place. They even came to our table with cleaning utensils and said "we're closed" when we were waiting for our uber. Other than that, I'd come back to try other specials and their Thai dishes! read more

Awesome! Small restaurant with a decidedly foodie spin on a joint Sushi and Thai menu. The menu is literally split between the Thai and Sushi cuisines. This works out really well if you love inventive Sushi, but are dining with those that don't like raw food as much as you. They have amazing Vietnamese style fresh rolls, prepared on order sushi style, with a wide variety of fillings you don't normally see in fresh rolls. I tried the Unagi and Crab stick, they were both very good and really fresh. The Thai dishes I tried were great, but it was the sushi that I found most interesting. The signature sushi items flirt with modernist cuisine featuring molecular gastronomy pearls with interesting fillings like citrus vinegar instead of fish roe. My favorites were: Dragon Seeds (salmon belly, spicy ginger, aiori, golden berry and edible silver), Mermaid (ebi spot prawn, ponzu, cilantro, galangal, and citrus vinegar pearls) and Smoked Salmon Fennel (salmon, fennel, aiori, sun dried fig and wood smoke). Food presentation was awesome! It was above average, I was there because of that. However, the food was alright, not as good as it looks, the service was below average, we see our servers most often around the closing time n after they drop the check, got attitude when I questioned him about the food didn't came out right. The environment was alright, the food looks fancy but the interior design seems a bit off. One of my favorite Thai places in Boston! It is a great addition to the Mission Hill neighborhood. The menu has multiple unique options so everyone will find something they like. They also actually listen to the level of spice you want which I was very pleased by. I ordered the green curry, yellow curry, and multiple sushi rolls. This is my go-to lunch place while at work and we order online. The food is delicious and entrees come with soup or salad. This visit was different as we were celebrating the New Year and dined in. We ordered sushi, pad Thai and the massaman curry which are our normal orders. Delicious as always! We also ordered the mango + sweet rice dessert - I probably wouldn't order it again but it was different and definitely something to try out. I got very sick from eating here. Thai dishes were ok. The Crispy Duck was good. Rainbow Maki, FujiHama Roll, and Strip Bass Nigiri were ok. Yellow Tail Nigiri, Uni Nigiri , Dragon Seed, Toro Nigiri, and Golden Naga were decent. Brown rice was used. The flowers on the nigiri made it dry. The Nigiris were very expensive. I would expect good quality fish since it's expensive. I don't know what made me sick. It was either the flowers on the nigiri or the raw fish was spoiled. Good service. read more

Had lunch with my husband at this spot today. I got the drunken noodle spicy with chicken and he got the green curry chicken mild lunch special. As far as prices they are average. I believe each of our dishes were around $10 or under and included a choice of soup or salad which is a nice value. My drunken noodles were perfect! Right amount of sauce, seasoning, and spice. I loved that their drunken noodles also had fresh veggies in them and that the chicken breasts were not dried out like most places. Portion size was more than enough. My husband loves curry but hated his dish. I had to agree because it was very bland. When he told the staff there, they immediately offered to fix it and even educated him on the different types of curry. They explained why getting the green curry mild is a bad choice because green curry is meant to be robust and spicy so it loses flavor when you don't order as is. When they fixed it up and brought it out again it was good! I loved that they took the time to explain the food to my husband in a nice way...some restaurants can be condescending in approach to customer complaints or inquires. If I'm ever in Boston again I will definitely visit. Fast, friendly, service and solid food with decent prices! read more

This place is amazing. It is not a big place. My daughter and I stopped in for dinner last night, and I am so happy we did. The food is utterly spectacular! The menu has a lot to choose from and after looking on yelp at what people had said, we opted for a few things to share. The pineapple fried rice with shrimp is really delicious. It was piping hot with 6 huge shrimp on top. We gobbled that down. We also order the crispy roll. It had salmon in it with a bunch of other tasty items inside and was flash fried. It was also piping hot, so careful not to burn you mouth. Lastly, we had the edamame. That was our starter. Hot and salty and just delicious. They have a menu where you can pay $30 for 6 different specialty small plates that the chef prepares and then when they are brought out, they tell you everything about it. I think there is one where you can do 12, and I can't remember the cost, but close to $60. You can't share or duplicate the dishes though FYI. When I up back, I will definitely be going back here and my daughter said it will be another one of their go to places. Very tasty thai food good quality- NOT enough Gluten Free Options- gluten free soy sauce is available most other restaurants use it...also charge extra for rice and make you buy dinner portions at lunch for certain meals- disparate impact on people with allergies.
