[[HIGHLIGHT]]Stopped in with 2 friends around 7 and the inside was really clean and updated which was nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was really quick and helpful with the menu recommendations. The food itself was pretty good for a quick bite and the menu had a lot of different selections. The group I was with really enjoyed everything we ordered. The spicy calamari was extremely spicy I will note. Would come back again to try more on the menu.

    Chicken Pad Thai

Old Stinky P. had craving had a yearning for some take away food today. Never tried this place, so why not give it a try. Pad Thai with Chicken and Spring Rolls. Pad Thai was quite good, not overly sweet and soggy. Good portion so old Stinky still has half left for consumption tomorrow. The Spring Rolls were very tasty! Will certainly add this place to Thai food repertoire.

9Zaab offers a large and diverse menu of tempting treats, and their food can rank within that of the top three (3) Thai restaurants in the Boston area. I had the pleasure to dine at 9Zaab in the flesh and bone once, but have ordered takeout several times and several times have received high-quality food. Not long ago I partook in a meal that consisted of, but was not limited to, Khao Moo Sam Chan Tod, Pad See You, and Gyoza. The first item is the tender and fatty belly of a piglet, deep fried to a golden brown, and served over a bed of rice. One (1) chicken's egg appears on the side, along with several slices of cucumber. The Pad See You, spelled here in this fashion, is a quintessential stir-fried noodle with protein and vegetables. Gyoza is a dump; if you do not know what it is you can google it. The entrails of these gyoza here are of unspecified origin, but bring pleasure to the mouth. All of the aforementioned items are well-seasoned, reasonably portioned, and appealing to the eye, nose, and finger. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It can also be said that the service is speedy and the atmosphere in the establishment itself is pleasant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food, though, is of course what is most important. I would not go to a restaurant if not to eat. 9Zaab will certainly have the pleasure of seeing my smiling face again.

Pad Kua Gai with crispy pork, and Kao Na Ped and both were very good. The sauces that came with them were incredible.

Shockingly good! Everything we ate was impeccable, and tasted very unique from any other Thai resturaunt I've been to before. Do not be scared by the overwhelming choice of the absurdly large menue- we just got things that looked good in photos and it was all great. We had the Pad Kua Gai with crispy pork, and Kao Na Ped and both were very good. The sauces that came with the dishes were incredible. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is nothing special, but don't judge the place too soon![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was great. 4.71 -Q&O

The food! The flavors! The deliciousness! A meal was shared here while rekindling a friendship that hasn't been experienced in over a decade. This was the perfect cozy spot to hold this special moment. We were so satisfied and delighted by everything we ate. Three dishes were shared amongst three gal pals and every plate had not a morsel of sauce, rice, or noodle leftover. Pad See You with Pork, Jungle Beef with sticky rice and spicy lime sauce, and Khao Soi with a chicken drumstick. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This gem of a place shouldn't be slept on.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The large mural in the shop paid homage to their culture.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff were friendly and the service was fantastic. Parking can be a bit tough on a Friday night, but stay persistent for a spot!

A favorite for Thai takeout. I love their boat noodles and drunken noodles. The khao moo dang is always a hit too. Many appetizer options and great lunch special. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Quick service and usually plenty of seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Generous portion and lots of unique dishes. We got the Nam Tok and it's nice and flavorful. The Sizzling Sukiyaki was also tasty. Could have been spicier but overall not bad.

    Boat Noodle Soup - Beef

Our last lunch spot in Boston was a hit! The Boat Noodle Soup (with beef) was the perfect cure for the rainy day - along with the chewy yet crispy Veg Dumplings. This restaurant has many different options, including some that were new to us like the Crispy Pad Thai - we didn't get much Pad Thai flavor but it is sweet and was moreish. The Khao Mun Gai 2 in 1 was like a Hainanese chicken rice - we all really enjoyed the rice, which was fragrant and complemented the chicken perfectly.

    Khao Mun Gai 2-in-1
    Justin S.

For a quick weekend dinner, a friend and I went to 9Zaab. At 7pm, the establishment had half occupancy, so we received seating immediately. I ordered for myself the Khao Mun Gai 2-in-1 ($14.95), consisting of both poached and fried chicken over rice; it arrived within 10 minutes. The rice itself, having soaked up chicken broth, tasted savory, though a bit too mushy. The poached chicken seemed to have lost a decent amount of its flavor, though the fried chicken did not. All this made for a quick and forgettable dinner.

    Drunken noodles

I loved the ambiance of this place. Our waiter was great, and very attentive. The food was a good spice level, though I will note that our drunken noodles took a while to come out. However, there were nonstop customers with takeout orders so I'm sure we came at a busy time! I will definitely come again, but took off a star because I felt some of the dishes were lacking in depth of flavor. This place has cozy hole-in-the-wall vibes, and I always love to support local restaurants!

Great Thai street food!! So many options, and you can find great dishes you wouldn't see at most Thai restaurants. Fast friendly service. Casual vibe. Good price. Great stuff all around for fans of Thai!

    Boat Noodle Soup
    Brandon T.

The beef boat noodle soup - WOW. One of the best in Boston no doubt. A well-seasoned, rich, deep beef broth compliments the rice boodles and slices of beef. Served with beansprouts and Chinese broccoli. Service was nothing spectacular, very no-frills but convenient and efficient for sure. Pretty spacious and decent amount of seating. Cute photos of street vendors on the wall. Overall, the place has such an extensive menu with many items you can't find at other Thai restaurants so I will definitely be back to try more after this amazing experience!

Fish cakes were small and perfectly uniform - almost like they were frozen rather than prepared on site. Green curry had some spice but was mostly one note, there just wasn't much depth of flavor. Vegetables were all cut in huge hunks - both dishes had giant pieces of red bell peppers and onions. Fried rice was pretty bland and barely had any Chinese broccoli in it. Ambiance was bare bones - you order at the counter and they bring you your food and plastic side plates. Half the tables were stacked with boxes and bags of takeout orders. To top it off there's no bathroom, we were told to use the bathroom at another local business. If I'm gonna spend $60 somewhere, I expect to be able to wash my hands before eating and use the restroom. Perhaps there are some specialty dishes that we didn't try but this was my 2nd time ordering from here (I got take out once before) and both times the food was pretty bland. A truly underwhelming experience - especially when there are so many better restaurants in the area.

Our favorites were the Mussels in Red Curry Rice Wine, Red Curry Bolognese, Massaman Beef Burger, and Mango Sticky Rice. Each packed with flavor and executed beautifully. The Thai Iced Tea was also excellent, while the Thai Ice Espresso Martini just wasn't for me. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant itself was clean, cozy, and inviting. The only downsides were that they had run out of their sourdough brioche buns, which I was excited to try, and reservations were tough to get as we had to book about a month in advance. Even so, it's easy to see why this place is so popular. I'll definitely be back and hopefully try some of the burgers with those sourdough buns next time.

Now, I suspect this might due in part because of the hype + location + thai/american fusion flavor, but even with a reservation we still ended up waiting about 30 minutes to be seated. Unfortunately, the service throughout dinner wasn't much better. Between the three of us, we ordered the scallion fries (which, for anyone wondering, aren't actually fries tossed in scallion oil or dressing), the fried calamari, the red curry Bolognese, the green curry pasta with steak, and, of course, the much-hyped Massaman burger. The fried calamari was probably the weakest dish. It had a fishier taste than I expected, and the breading was fairly greasy and tended to fall off. The scallion fries were good, though not especially memorable. Of the entrées, we preferred the green curry pasta over the red curry Bolognese, though both became a little heavy after a while. The Massaman burger was solid, but not quite the standout I was hoping for. Across the dishes, our biggest takeaway was that the curry sauces all leaned fairly rich and salty without much contrast. A little acidity or citrus would have gone a long way in brightening the flavors. Overall, Black Ruby was good, just not quite as memorable as I expected. Nothing we ordered really wowed us, but it's still a perfectly solid spot if you're in the area. I'd be open to coming back, though I'd probably try some different items if we were ever around Harvard Square.

One friend is a regular and she got her usual entree with a bunch of substitutions to accommodate her food intolerances (poor thing!), and the staff was very kind as usual. Another friend got the duck which is her favorite dish (she was happy with it!). I got spicy green beans and chicken and it was very flavorful and just the perfect level of spicy for me. Two of us ordered the hot sake (it's in the teens today!). The hot sake is actually a nicer brand than you sometimes get. It had a nice clean finish and maybe went down a little too easily!
