WOW! I've been meaning to write a review for this salon but it's now past the time. I had been searching for a new colorist since moving to northeast Plano and finding the drive to Southlake every few weeks to be too much, since I'm crunched for time and my grey hair comes back faster than I would like. My first stop in the Plano area took me to a highly rated colorist that left me with hot roots that they toned down, but the color faded so fast and left me with multiple colors that weren't flattering. I got so fed up that I actually considered letting my hair go totally grey. Bad choice. So yet again I was off to find someone who could make my hair even and toned. Enter Laura Mac Salon and the coloring genius, Margaret. She took the time to really look through my hair and its myriad tones, listened to me about how my hair pulls color, and consulted with another stylist. She did something to even out my last bad root touchup, and when she was finished I had shiny hair that was a beautiful color and didn't have 50 shades of grey and not grey. The best part? Every other time I've had my hair and roots colored the color faded and my roots were visible to me in less than 2 weeks. It's been 3.5 weeks and I'm just now starting to see the outgrowth of grey, but the rest of the color is still perfect! So, the moral of this novel? If you want AMAZING color that doesn't fade and you want to leave a hair appointment feeling amazing, then I suggest you make an appointment at Laura Mac! read more

I visited Jess on 9/2/15 for a color and cut. She had solutions for every color problem I gave her (cover the gray, cut down the brassy tones, leave no line between highlights and natural hair, add body, etc). I have been going to Laura at her salon in Allen for a year now. I was searching for someone new since I quit going to my last stylist because she was not doing a good job on cut or color. I was really pleased with how Laura takes her time to understand what I want in my cut and color. I showed her a picture of fancy coloring and a haircut that I had seen at a high end salon. She matched it perfectly and my hair is looking the greatest it has in over 5 years. Another plus is that she sells Kevin Murphy products at her salon which I love. I haven't posted a review for Laura Mac's salon before for selfish reasons (wanted to keep this gem of a place for myself!), but if you are looking for a place to cut, color and style any type of hair, this salon is the best! Megan is awesome - she does mine and my daughter's hair and it always looks amazing. My hair is very curly and I've always had a hard time finding a good haircut/style for my round face. My family was leaving for a vacation on a friday. Thursday evening I suddenly decide that I wanted a good haircut for the photos. So I did a walk-in at Laura Mac but it was almost closing time and I left disappointed. I got a call back from them letting me know that my stylist Laura is open to coming a half hour early the next morning before the salon officially opens, just so I can get my haircut!!!!! I have been to pricier salons before, but NEVER have I had this kind of customer service! The Haircut- Laura did my hair and she was fantastic! She was polite, gracious and took her time understanding what I wanted. I would end up having the same/similar hairstyle every time I go in for a "style change" thanks to my face shape and specifications. Out of sheer boredom, I had picked a few new looks I liked from the internet and showed it to Laura. She worked around modifying the hairstyle in the picture to suit my face and the result was one of THE BEST haircuts I have had! The After- I forgot to pack my hairstyler for the vacation and air-dried my hair for the next few days tweaking it a bit with my fingers...to my surprise, my hair style looked about 90% as good as it was on the day I had it cut! That has NEVER happened before...usually, I need to heatset it after the first wash just so it can hold the style. I think that proves the quality of the haircut! They are located ACROSS from HOLLYWOOD FEED store. Haha I say that because I couldn't find it at first & called them to double check. Haha. I'm very happy with their customer service, attention to detail & quality of their work. One of my friends/clients recommended Jess to me. I really needed somebody talented to fix my hair for a special event & my regular Hairstylist was on vacation. Jess is super friendly & met my expectations & beyond. The Salon is beautiful, with a great vibe & spotless clean. All the hairstylists look super talented - they know what they are doing. I've been getting my hair cut by Laura since I was 12 years old! My mom and I both have followed her for almost 15 years when she's moved salons and were so happy when she got her own salon years ago! My mom had Laura, Jess, and Savannah do our hair and makeup when she got married. They did amazing! Even when I've lived out of town I always came home to get my hair cut! I stopped even telling Laura how to cut my hair years ago because she knows how I want it done every time. Savanna colored my hair today she did not give me what I asked for I still have dark marks of demarcation in my hair. Told her I was unhappy and she ignored me and kept drying my hair. I was told a price on the phone for highlights and low lights $100.00 but when I went to my appointment it was $40 more upon completion. I was also surprised that they will charge you $115 to put highlights and lowlights in your hair and send you out the door without your hair dried unless you're willing to pay them another $25 for blow drying. I did not find anything more special about their salon or anything more appealing than if I just went to a local inexpensive salon. I've been treated better and a small mom-and-pop shop then in the store. My earring was almost pulled out of my ear and my hair was called several times during the process. Never once was I acknowledged for that. I felt like I was a second-class citizen but was asked to pay first class prices. In my opinion avoid the salon at all costs.
