Truly dislike writing bad reviews but for this specific location I have no choice. Every time I…read morecome here they either don't have staple items on the menu, have horrible customer service, or more recently, aren't open during their advertised hours. Came here the other night around 8:45pm and the person told me they were closed. I asked how this was possible since they didn't close until 11pm and the person said it was because the manager closed down because of low customer numbers. It's a shame because when they get the food right, it's pretty good.

I went there today around 2:00 pm to purchase food for my return trip back in town and it was disgraceful that the service was so bad. Specifically, the drive-thru attendant had an attitude, put me on hold so that she could conversate with her manager for about 10 minutes before returning back to the window to take my order, once I placed my order, which was 2 breasts, 2 wings and an order of fries, I was told that it would be approximately a 15 minute wait on the wings. I told the drive-thru attendant, never mind, I will just have the 2 breasts and the fries. I waited almost 20 minutes in the drive-thru line, thought about driving off, but could not due to another car in front of me at the window. I finally approached the window and was then told that they now have no breasts or no wings. I was livid after waiting that amount of time in the line to just drive away with nothing. Just a little constructive criticism: The manager needs more training on the business practices to be able to manage and lead professionally. Also, the workers need to be re-trained on customer service.

And for the price at 1213 $ for a sandwich combo is a little overpriced. I think a definite plus is the fixing bar that is awesome and hope they keep that the restaurant is clean and well kept and I think the staff were hard to get orders out on time.

I ate at the Mall location a bit more when one of my friends got a job there. The bacon cheeseburger was my absolute favorite. The taste was everything. I preferred Roy's food over McDonald's ANY DAY. I may have been extra influenced by my dad, who grew up on Roy Rogers comics and movies, so I grew a love for westerns. Even if the restaurant chain is relative to The King of Cowboys in name only, I love it just by the association. Time goes by, Hardee's buys Roy's and gradually my beloved chain began to disappear. I left for college and during my visits home would look for a Roy's but knew it would just be a memory. About 20 years later, I came home for another friend's wedding and nearly crashed into the car in front of me. I thought my eyes were playing tricks. I turned the car around, much to my wife's confusion, and told her we needed to stop. This review is more so a rave about the Roy Rogers restaurant than it is of this particular location, but I am ETERNALLY GRATEFUL that it's here. With each visit home (I live in Florida now), I make it a point to grab a bite here. The food is just as tasty as I remember, but the experience of it all is what keeps me coming back. I love Roy's.

The chicken wasn't nearly as crispy as I would have hoped and it's seasoning fell a little bit flat. The size of the tender was good though, which I appreciate. The sauces we got didn't compliment the tenders very well (maybe we got the wrong ones to go with the dry rub?) The waffle fries were the star of the show - crispy, hot, and exactly what you want out of waffle fries. And my goodness the toast left a lot to be desired; was hoping for much more than a plain piece of untoasted bread at the bottom of the combo box. If I return to Hangry Joe's, I would definitely try something different on the menu. The chicken tender combo I had left alot to be desired.

But I did not have a similar experience with this location in Waldorf. I shared a tender meal with some others one quiet Saturday evening. The tenders were flavored up nicely, but they came with dipping sauces that just really clashed with their dry rub. In my opinion, it should be an option of either or, not both. And the waffle fries had a sweetness to them that I was not expecting. They have waffle fries on their menu too, and it tasted like the batter got mixed up, which was weird. It was a savory, yet subtly sweet experience. And the toast was literally a slice of white bread that had some sauce dripping on it. It was not toasted, and really had nothing going for it. I guess the locations are definitely different in terms of quality, and I will just stick to the ones closer to me.

They also give customers a buzzer while they wait and to notify them when the food is ready. The chicken can cum with a spice rub ranging from none to reaper. I always want some seasoning but I would prefer not to die yet, so I opted for medium. This was a good choice for me. Some of the spice rubs off on your fingers which is not ideal, but it was good nevertheless. I got the #3 meal which consisted of one chicken strip, one chicken slider and a side of fries. The fries were nicely seasoned but the portion was on the small side. The Dave's sauce seems to be some morph between honey mustard and mayonnaise, and it was solid but. It necessarily special. The slaw they put on the slider was cool. I normally do not like coleslaw but theirs was on the mild side and that made it palatable. They generously provided 4 decent sized pickles and an extra slice of bread for carb lovers like me. And I must say, grab the napkins. They are a fun play on words from songs but replacing words like 'fly' and 'cry' with the word 'fry.' Cool beans!
