Spent $21.00 for a regular cheeseburger meal which comes with small fries and refillable small drink, and one additional stand-alone roast beef sandwich. Roast beef ($7.99) really needed to be soaked in horseradish sauce to bring any appeal to the almost tasteless meat. Sandwiches are small, fries were good and small drink refillable but a lot for a small amount of food even with the fixins bar. One can improve the ordinary sandwiches, but small pale tasteless tomato slices, plain iceberg lettuce and meh pickles did not bring satisfaction to the charburger. First of all I like this restaurant. Yet I prefer the Fort Hunt or Manchester Lakes locations. They are more updated, newer than this one which is showing its age. The chairs really mess up my already screwed up back, and again other locations don't. This one seems less busy. Guess that is a plus. Want to say thank you to the polite employees here. Roy Rogers Woodlawn is frightening. I was threatened by a customer and counter fellow for returning my food after they made vocal jokes about a black lady who had left because of vile service. I had witnessed it. I'm 75, so to told I would be dragged onto the parking lot and beaten was very troubling and illegal. I wish I had called the police. Terrible place, bad service and management doesn't even communicate in English. It's been 5 years. I'm trying it again hoping it's improved. The new ownership of the local trio is not anything like the great family that owned it earlier. 2 of my children worked there under the Todd Family and loved the quality. read more

First time here and I must say the chicken sandwich was absolutely delightful. The chicken was moist and rather large and you could tell it was real chicken and not processed. We were a large group and they accommodated us well which was awesome. The restaurant was clean and easily navigated for things such as condiments. We were very pleased with quality of care exhibited by the staff. No messes near the "fixin's bar" or the self-serve soda machine. The food was great! This was an awesome experience! I ordered the sourdough bacon burger and was very so very pleased to see the bacon was perfecto and not burnt to a crisp! The burger was juicy and the size was very pleasing. I was so impressed with the freshness of the burger to include the condoments bar, that I went back inside to tell the manager Luis to pass on to the cook what a great job he did and how happy a customer I was. The vegetables on the condoments bar were fresh and crisp. The manager kept it clean and pleasing to the eyes! I was so pleased that I ordered another sourdough bacon burger for later. Having this bring back memory of Roy Rogers and Hardy's. Little history.Roy Roger's a big screen cowboy's show with his wife. It's was something special and even have all you can eat breakfast. After they when down hill they sold out to McDonald's an close Roy Roger's own restaurant. Provitly own Roy's keep the name and food. Now there only a hand full of Roy's left and one opening soon. Here my review of this location. I think the chicken ok but with Popeye's and KFC and put it a step down from two. There hamburgers are very good for a Roy Roger's. Bisect and Gravy is a water base gravy. They don't use milk. It's not the same if you don't use milk. scramble eggs was cooked on a to hot grill and slitty burn it. potato was good. Coffee ok for a fast food. Being at Fort Belvoir and moving to Springfield to work. I not going to this location. I hope one day I can eat at another Roy's. read more

This review is 2 years in the making since I drive by this location every day due to its proximity with my daily drive. Anyways, I remember getting food here when I moved in the area and there was nothing else really available. I played it safe and got chicken tenders, mashed potatoes, and I think some other side. Let's just focus on the chicken tenders. They were dried out, hard to chew, and looked like they have been sitting under the warmer for hours (pretty sure this is the case). The mashed potatoes were more like watery potatoes. The food my family had was equally sub-par. The location itself continues to get worse and worse on a weekly basis. There is this ongoing-failure-of-an-attempt construction going on that now is on 3 of the 4 sides of the building. It causes traffic jams everyday. On top of that this location seems to attract tour buses. I feel bad for who is on these buses because someone obviously trolled them into thinking this was ever a "destination". So to sum it up: think bad food combined with bad roads due to construction combined with the weekly tour bus that comes along and makes traffic even worse and you got yourself a good idea of this Roy Rogers. I'd look for the other Roy Rogers location up in the Belle View Shopping Center instead. read more

I love it! This place wad prominent when I was younger, and we even had a location right up the street from our house! Now there's only a few of these restaurants left around the country I believe. That being said, I wouldn't vonsider this a "chain" restaurant, as some people would profess. So I can in at 8am with the hopes of purchasing an extra large roast beef sandwich, but that wasn't happening. Way too early. So instead I chose the scrambed egg platter breakfast platter with frickn bacon. For less than $5 and it even included a 12 ounce coffee! Not a bad deal! There were not that many people inside the restaurant, so the food was prepared quickly. The food was good, albeit it wasn't a roast beef sandwich! Argggg. I had the pleasure of stopping by the way, Rogers Woodlawn Va. off of Richmond Highway for lunch. The team members were all so happy and friendly. You could tell they got along and liked each other. Roy Rogers in my opinion has always had great chicken. Many patrons were kids when these restaurants opened. The millennials and their children should definitely try the food. It's better than the same old other fried chicken places that have inudated the market. We visited the Alexandria location this evening for the first time and had a wonderful experience with the front line staff and manage. Finally, service with kindness and a smile and because of the service and good food we will be back! Came in one evening with our family, to get a uick bite to eat. The food took 10+ minutes to be ready, they forgot our fries, they also forgot an order of chicken tenders. They said they didnt have any more tenders ready and it would be another 10+ minutes, we said nm just give us a refund on our order of 4. (we had 2 orders of 8) and decided to just share. The fries they gave us were cold and nasty, The kid at the counter must have said to the mgr "They dont want to wait, thats why they want their money back" Like it was our fault their incompetent idiots. For some reason I had high hopes for this place, based on other reviews. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger meal with a chocolate milkshake and a spicy chicken sandwich for my mom. I didn't think the price would be so high but I wasted $15 for this meal when I could've gone to The Cheesecake Factory for a better meal and Cheesecake isn't that great to me. Let me start with the fries. It was basically the quality of burger king and dairy queen, if not worse so you decide if that's good to you. The burger does have potential but for it to be that small and that price was the ridiculous. Don't even get me started on the chicken sandwich which was $5 for that small thing. Having written reviews on Roy Rogers locations in Manassas and FFx Cty and being disappointed in my orders of chicken at both, I swore to NEVER again order that item, so.....I ventured to their location on Rt.1 near Ft. Belvoir after providing a neighbor transportation to the area. Since he can no longer drive and being a Roy;'s fan he offered to treat me, which was right up my alley to experience something on the menu besides their chicken.... Though tempted from the past to order the roast beef, I stuck with trying the double r bar burger and experienced culinary bliss once again at a Roy Rogers location....The burger came out moist and tasty, along with the ham included...I garnished it with lettuce and tomato, coupled with a dollop of horse radish which I could barely taste, but still the sandwich was excellent. I can't say enough about the freshness of the kaiser roll which complemented the meat. Fries were nice and hot and tasty also...I have been reluctant to visit this Roys because of the cramped restroom available but see they have added one more restroom with male/female access..so now everyone is happier I'm sure!!!!!! Roy Rogers rules. This one in particular is super goodalicious. I dig me a double r bar burger and a holster of friez. This place served it up right. I'm a fan of RR fries, but when cold they suck. These fries were nice. Hot and crispy just the way I like them. The manager was also a cool dude. I ordered large friez but they had me down for reg. i mentioned it to the person packing my bag and she fixed it, no questions asked. This place is not bad. Been there a few times for lunch. Usually get the 2 piece fried chicken. Mac and cheese is always a good side. Get some honey/jam with your biscuit. You've got yourself a decent meal. My complaint is that they once ran out of thigh at lunchtime. How does that happen? When you run low on one of the more popular pieces, it means you cook more. Forgive me, hardcore RR fans, but OMG it was awful. First off, they lost my order, but the manager made up for it by giving me an extra order of the beef sliders. Still, it was my first time here and they lost my order... Anyway, I had one slider and threw the rest away. I kinda like Arby's, but the sliced beef at RR is not even close. I even drowned it in their BBQ sauce and it was still nasty. I then tried the chicken strips. OMG, how do you mess up chicken strips? They looked great but had a really odd taste. No amount of BBQ sauce could save them. But maybe it's just me... I then tried the mashed potatoes and gravy. OMG, how do you ruin this staple? I love that there are tour buses there, in my opinion it's a national treasure LOL It's location is near Fort Belvior off Route 1. Depending on what time you go, traffic can be awful.
