Yesterday morning, I had a terrible experience with another salon, Invidia. Due to a booking mistake, they couldn't do my haircut. Great to have this occur right before a huge meeting. Anyway, called the salon, which gave me an appointment with Traci for after work. Traci was PHENOMENAL. She gave me the best haircut I've had in years. She really listened to what I wanted, made very helpful suggestions. And I am absolutely in love with the cut. I can't wait to go back to have her fix the terrible coloring job I got from Invidia. When I called, the receptionist offered me a first-time discount, and even though I had forgotten about this when I paid, the receptionist/cashier reminded me and charged me the discounted rate. I thought the salon was nicely decorated and very clean. I am so happy to have a new salon and stylist. Free, easy parking and the amazing Traci. What more could I want? read more

I have been going to Lauren Craig Salon for four years. I have enjoyed the great service, professionalism, a gorgeous haircut and spot on color. Now, with Covid, I thoroughly enjoy the true care they take to ensure my safety and that of their team. Prior to entering the salon they take my temperature. You fill out your covid questionnaire, use some hand sanitizer and then you receive your cloak. Gone are the days of coffee, biscotti and magazines but I can only hope covid vaccine will be available soon. The picture is of the outside tent they have set up if clients want to get some sit and get some fresh air or even get your hair cut or colored outdoors. I was nervous because of Covid but I give the salon a lot of credit because they really cleaned everything between uses, they had fewer customers there, they had the door open for ventilation. I had no idea about this area in Wayland but it's cute. I had Taylor as my stylist and we did a nice & simple cut so it went by quick. She was fun to chat with and even styled my hair with curls since I was going out that night for my birthday. Love her! They also have a color bar which is a cool concept. I'm thinking of coloring my hair soon (whenever I figure out what exactly I want) so looking forward to going back. Regardless of how stressed out I feel when heading to Lauren Craig, I feel myself beginning to relax as soon as I step in the door. I've never experienced such a relaxed and friendly salon. The music is always low key and never too loud. The salon itself is lovely, and there is good coffee and cookies available should you need a pick-me-up. Gina is an extremely talented stylist. First and foremost, this salon is beautiful from front to back, inside and out. I went in for a consult about two weeks ago, spoke to Julie and booked an appointment for the other day. My hair is dark and curly and has been dyed red for years so it's not the easiest to work with. Julie assured me I had nothing to worry about and I really didn't. Aimee does the Yuko here. She claims she is trained but after going to someone else she clearly isn't doing the process right at all. All the times I did it with her, she did not saturate hair to the amount necessary. My hair was never the straightness I have with my new Yuko stylist. The second time I had Aimee do my Yuko it didn't come out at all and she told me no risk to do it again right away. After I lost half the thickness in my hair from this decision on her part, she told me it was a medical issue that my hair got so thin. I do like Aimee as a person but believe she is extremely greedy when it comes to her job. Not to mention they charge $200/hr and I wound up paying $1k every time. Every salon in Boston won't charge even more than $700. I only spent $400 at my new salon and have much better results! read more

I have been coming to this salon for some time. The salon is gorgeous, spacious, and always very clean. Lauren cuts and dyes my hair and she is fantastic. She is great at giving the client what they want. She's open to looking at pictures and asks questions to clarify so that she can provide the perfect cut and color. All of the other staff is so friendly and helpful - always smiling and offering drinks, snacks and magazines. Scheduled a much needed haircut for my preschooler at Lauren Craig for the first time and since it was post-quarantine, I knew that things would be a bit different. We arrived to his appointment wearing masks and called to check-in. Someone who works there took my child's temperature before we walked in as a precaution and I figured everything would be fine from there. All of a sudden 3 masked employees appear in the waiting room essentially making a barricade in front of us from entering the salon area. They tell me that I will not be allowed to be in the salon while my 5 year old gets a haircut and that I would have to wait in the car. Upon hearing this, my child completely loses his mind and I don't blame him. The thought of leaving my preschool-aged child with a bunch of masked strangers is completely absurd. I fully understand taking precautions in the wake of Covid, but if this was their new protocol they should have mentioned it on the phone when I was booking instead of terrifying my child. Had I known about this, I would have never chosen this salon in the first place. Not to mention, the interaction we had with any employee in the establishment was ice cold. After my child fully melting down they eventually allowed me to sit in the salon area in a chair next to him. The haircut was done in virtual silence and it was a tense situation all around. There was hardly anybody in the salon and I don't see why any of the torment was necessary in the first place. If you have a young child, don't bother going here. I booked a haircut the following weekend at Invidia for my toddler and the experience couldn't have been more different. Friendly staff, invited me to sit right next to him, chatted with little one and even gave him a lollipop on the way out. Don't waste your time with Lauren Craig. read more

Got a gift card to come. They're open until 9pm Tues, Wed., Thurs. Got a same day appointment at 7:45 on a Tuesday. Salon was busy, and my stylist, Abby, was great! Normally $48 for my wash, cut, style/blow-dry, but was charged $40 as a first-timer. Gave a $20 cash tip. Terrific experience, and now I finally have a go-to salon near home!! Loved this place. Visiting my daughter, who is local and we were looking for a great, easy-going stylist, in a professional business setting. This place was FABULOUS. Aimee did a wonderful job with both our "do's". We are very fussy about haircuts so this is no small task. The front desk was very service oriented and welcoming. The shop was stylish and impeccably clean. Easy parking. Decent prices. My son-in-law found it first. I admit some skepticism. We are now ALL fans. I have been coming to the same salon and the same hairdresser for years, and had the same hairstyle. But when I decided to change it, I went to another salon. I came back after a year to Dee, the same hairdresser I was going to always at Lauren Craig Salon and asked her to change my color and style from what she used to do for last 15 years. She didn't listen to me and the results came out not what I wanted. She did my highlights too light, and didn't have time to fix it that day. I came back 2 weeks later for a haircut, and got some toner on my highlights which were very bleached blond. I've got a nice haircut, but after the toner I do not have any highlights anymore. My hair now is so dark, not the way I wanted at all. Dee I went from one extreme to another with my hair color and highlights. I don't like my look at all, and I have wasted $185.00. Unfortunately you can't ask Dee to be creative and try something different then she is use to do all the time. I am definitely not going back there anymore. read more

Do not get your hair done here! It's extremely loud and chaotic. My first visit was my last visit. There were children climbing around and a dog inside the salon. Taylor was doing two other clients hair while dyeing my hair. I had no idea what she was mixing nor did I ever see a color swatch chart. She did not even tone the color. Another stylist washed the bleach out while she cut someone's hair. Oh yeah she did not even set a timer I had to keep track of the time. They also do not dry your hair to see the color.... Could not run out the door fast enough. I had to have my hair immediately fixed! read more

The owner makes an effort to make you feel comfortable & valued, but the main receptionist isn't a people person. They dont allow you to tip if you're payingby credit card, because" its too inconvenient for us to have multiple receipts," but it is too inconvenient for me to have to leave and return from the cash machine with a tip. Im the customer so convenience should be geared towards me. The prices are very high, comparable to Newbury Street. I was unhappy with my color service & not comfortable enough to let them try to fix it. Both of my experiences with color there disappointing, but I saw other clients there happy and with good results, in my opinion. They did offer to redo the aervice to my satisfaction, but with two unsatisfactory visits I would have preferred a refund, which they would not oblige. Sadly I wont return as it is otherwise a clean & comfortable salon. read more

I had a fantastic experience at Lauren Craig. As a returning customer from their former location, I have had hair services from 5 different members of their staff over the past 7 years and have had great experiences with all of them. When making my appointment the receptionist was friendly and very helpful. I had a cut and partial foil. The new salon is gorgeous and well laid out. I sat at the bar for my color and was moved to a station for my cut which was nice considering the length of my appointment. I went to this salon because I found out an old stylist I went to someplace else had moved here. She did a great job on the cut and for color I asked for a one process to cover my grays and highlights. A service I have never paid more then $160 for on Newbury street. You can imagine my surprise when the bill came to $270!!!!! I don't even think the color is all that great. It's just ok. They did offer to fix it but I have no time to go back and I'm afraid I'll end up paying some how. I even called back to find out if the price was a mistake, which it wasn't. What a rip off. I have seen Michael off and on for about 30 years, and every time I return I wonder why I ever left! Michael does a fantastic job on my hair, and is a great guy who really cares about his clients. He has a great rapport with his staff and the new salon is lovely. I have only written a few reviews. However when I saw the only one posted I could not believe the low score. It does not make sense. I have used Yelp for dining and other finds. I think it is important to reflect accurately on a business. So I am writing a review to defend one of the best salons I have been to. I found Lauren Craig about three years ago when they were located in Framingham. They were so busy they outgrew that location. They have been in Wayland for the past year. Since moving more people have found this treasure but the customer service is still great. Everyone is offered a beverage and there is never a long wait. They even provide disposable eyeglass protectors if you are reading while waiting for your color. Michael the owner is my stylist and he is wonderful. I must say that most of the stylists seem quite good. Michael remembers everything. He must have a cheat card somewhere because even mundane things that we chat about he recalls. He always remembers my requests such as keep my bangs long, I like it brushed to this side, etc. The color and cut is consistently outstanding and I am a very pleased customer. Michael keeps me looking stylish and I get lots of compliments. The price is on par and seems comparable to other salons. I agree that the tip thing is a bit inconvenient but I understand the rational of not wanting to keep that much cash in the building. Also, you can put it on your credit card if you forget to bring a cash tip. They are very accommodating and really want to please their customers. read more

I have been going to Lauren Craig salon for 4 years now, when a professional conference made me finally seek out a stylist who could help me to acquire a more professional look. I've stayed, loving the results from Lauren, and later, Michael (the owner). I'm very hesitant about "self care" services (not used to getting my hair done, makeup, spa services, etc.) and they put me right at ease as soon as I walked in. I've stayed all these years because they know exactly how to handle my changing needs (even when I'm not sure exactly what I want), and I always look forward to working with Michael again. She consults with her clients and makes sure you are on the same page before going ahead with any coloring or styling which is very much appreciated, offering advice and ideas along the way. She is realistic also, which helps me manage my own expectations. I appreciate her dedication to the work, personable bearing, and commitment to her clients. I went to this salon for the first time last week to try them out so I didn't have to drive 35 minutes to my old salon. When I made the appointment for a hair color they didn't tell me that I needed to book a separate appointment for a blow dry - fair enough, I should have guessed as many salons now have that policy. When I showed up they told me someone other than the stylist who was doing my color could do my blow-dry. What they didn't tell me is that she wasn't a stylist. After my color set, the very nice young woman washed my hair and took me to blow-dry it out. She clearly didn't know how to do it as she never touched my roots with the brush. I was annoyed but that wasn't the worst part. The woman who colored my hair never came to check on the color or to see if I was happy with it. She did come at the end of my blow-dry to give me her card, though, and tell me she hopes I will come back. Seriously! read more
