The Long Version: My first time at Metropolitan was many years ago, before chronicling my food adventures was a thing for me, lol. I actually don't remember the food from that time at all (which is why I like documenting my experiences now). I recently returned for a continuing education event sponsored by a pharmaceutical company. The four course dinner I had there was great. As per the restaurant website, we got the "Group Dinner" menu, which is $72 a person. We started off with a bread basket and the bread was baguette slices which were warm and slightly crusty on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. Next up was a wild mushroom and truffle soup with spinach and Parmesan cheese. It was rich and creamy. Then we had a spinach salad with blueberries and strawberries. The balsamic vinaigrette was light and not too oily. The sunflower and pumpkin seeds added a nice crunchy texture. For my main, I got the Filet Mignon. I asked for it cooked medium and it was perfect. It came with asparagus which were deliciously al dente and mashed potatoes, which were not as smooth I expected, but still good. For dessert I chose the Chocolate Mousse Cake which was so soft and smooth and very rich. It was a great ending to an overall great meal. Service was pleasant and they kept our water glasses full and the wine was pouring freely. I had to drive home so only had a glass and a half. We were in a curtained off area and it wasn't too loud. We were able to hear the presentation clearly. There was at least one other event going on at the same time and of course regular restaurant customers, but the space is large enough that they could accommodate all this. They have a very large patio which is great for people watching. The restaurant is on poshy Sussex Drive, a stone's throw away from the Chateau Laurier. There's street parking or some paid parking structures nearby. Review #109 (2026)

What a nice evening sitting in the courtyard enjoying a wonderful meal…read more My table tried the steak options and thoroughly enjoyed their meals. I had the Tuna tartar which reminded me of a Hawaiian poke stack, just without the shoyu, or rice. Loved it. My lobster ravioli was very tasty, but...(And this is the missing star) was obviously sitting on the line while waiting for someone's steak. It should have been the last thing plated before coming to the table but it appeared to be the first sine the sauce had a skin on it and the ravioli was lukewarm warm. Don't get me wrong, it tasted GREAT. So close to 5 but not quite.

Nice rainy Sunday afternoon we got a seat near the window, we had a nice waitress who got us two beers and some water. My coors light was flat and the man who ordered one behind me was fresh so I just told her to take it back and I'll stick to the water. The same thing happened with my best friend she got the Heineken and it was flat and tasted like skunk. We decided to share the pizza and wings. I asked for the pizza to be well done she said it always is but what we got was half cooked and mushy. Had a funky taste and we stopped eating it thinking we would get sick. The wings were okay until we started to find some that needed to be cooked longer. On top of that we had a man and his wife sitting near us and the entire time the man was just staring in to our eyes even when he got caught looking he would just do it again. Super creepy man who did not help the overall experience at this location. They also had a wasp in the resto which happens. a elderly woman who demanded she sit at the table by the window where they hadn't cleaned up yet so lots of cups and stuff they had to rush over to clean that up then she's getting vocal about a wasp. Owner comes over and slaps the menu so hard against the window I thought a gun shot went off. Would I come back ? I really don't know but never say never

There were a couple large groups there that appeared to be happy hour crowds since it was around 5pm. The bar also had scattered groups and couples, most of whom sounded local. By the time we left an hour or so later it was a full place. We felt comfortable and welcomed by the staff and crowd. There were about 10 beers listed on the board that appear to be their brews, ranging from sours, saisons, stouts, and IPA. I had the sour to start, which was crisp and refreshing with a hint of fruit sweetness. My saison was also very good, with just enough funk. There is a food menu, although we did not try anything. Groups and people around us were ordering sandwiches and snacks left and right. Overall, this place checked plenty of boxes for me. The vibe, beer, crowd, and service was great.

Really impressed with the Darth Lager schwarzbier. Dark, roasty, sweet, smooth bliss. Not very bitter. Great as a winter brew! Big fan of the Double Malheur East Coast IPA with tons of hops and juiciness. And of course the sours. Had the pleasure of trying La Pêche, a light and dry fruity sour. Hard to not taste the peachiness. Very refreshing! The IPA brut is also good...super dry. Very friendly staff are always ready to pick the right beer for you. Bottles range in size and go anywhere from $6 to $12.
