The owner, "Ross the Boss" came and talked to us and had a delightful conversation. We also had the benefit of having live music serenade us in the background. Most of all, we loved the cabin ambiance, but in a very class vibe!

They had a guitarist perform live during our dinner on a Friday night. The owner of the restaurant is very friendly and down to earth. We had escargot and French onion soup as starters and both were phenomenal. It's nice to finally eat escargot that is not drenched in just butter. For our main entrees, we had the fish & chips and cedar plank maple glazed salmon with a homemade chimichurri. First of all, I'm huge on fish & chips, and I can say this place has one of the best I've had. The batter is perfect and the tartar sauce is homemade! You can taste the freshness. The salmon was cooked perfectly. Not overdone at all. The chimichurri sauce was really good too. We finished off with the crème brûlée, and that was probably my least favorite. It's not bad, but just mediocre. I highly recommend making reservations, especially on a weekend. It gets very busy!

I had the ham and cheese crêpe, which was simple but really satisfying--nice and melty without feeling too heavy. It's not trying to be upscale, just good, reliable comfort food. My son ordered from the kids menu--the banana crêpe with whipped cream and ice cream--and that was easily the highlight. Big portion, fun, and definitely a hit. He also had lemonade, and I had coffee, which was solid. The space has a cozy, rustic ski-village feel--wood interiors, warm lighting, very relaxed. Service was friendly and easygoing.

Their poutine crepe is definitely not the right choice for a snack because it was very filling because their portion size was big. Their fries were crispy and I really like their gravy as it was very flavorful. The crepe itself was soft and chewy but it would've been nice if it had a slight crispy edge. However, I do think this is a little gimmicky and I would prefer just a classic poutine. We also ordered a banana split crepe, which I regret not asking to come a little bit later as we all wanted to eat the savory dish before moving into the sweet. So by the time we got to this, the ice cream had already melted a little, which made the crepe a little soggy. There was plenty of bananas but too much cream imo but my kids loved and devoured it. It was definitely a kids favorite. The restaurant is not very big with just a couple of tables. Our server was very friendly and service was quick. Overall, this is a great option for lunch or snack. They also offer many savory and sweet options on their menu and we would love to go back to try out other items on their menu.

While staying at Le Grand Lodge, my fiancée and I were exploring the hotel and stumbled upon the…read moremenu cards for the restaurant and bistro both in the lobby of the hotel. The bistro is technically a part of the bar, not the restaurant--the restaurant serves a four course meal, or you can order a la carte. We waited to be seated to the restaurant (which was very empty at about 7:30pm during peak holiday season) the host was a little rude and impatient when asked if the bistro can be also served in the restaurant, because we were unsure of the workings and both menus were next to each other in the lobby. Agitated, the host did bring the bistro menu to us, along with attitude that the restaurant doesn't serve usually the bistro menu. A side note, the restaurant and bistro/bar are all in one general area, separated by a wall. You can hear conversations and see other hotel stayers and their dogs easily through the fireplace. The bistro had very few but full tables, and the restaurant portion had very many but empty tables. I ordered the french onion soup and my fiancée had the chicken club sandwich (from the bistro menu). The french onion soup was edible, once I got past the centimeter of melted mozzarella cheese that was on top. It was not extraordinary, and rather sweet. My fiancée said the chicken club sandwich was very good, the chicken was moist and tender. The fries that came with his sandwich were also hot and crispy. He wanted to order beer batter cod fillet sticks, but was told that they are no longer being served. We also ordered drinks, the blue lagoon drink my fiancée ordered was warm, watered down, pulpy from the pineapple juice and very sour. I ordered a brise du grand lodge, it was very good, not too sweet and would recommend it if someone likes cranberry juice. While we didn't order too much, and are usually very easy going, what knocked down the stars was the service. Perhaps because we are in our early 20s and often are not taken seriously as due to looking young. The host was rude, and the waitress was impatient and rushed--despite there being many, many empty tables. This restaurant has great potential and the wine list is extensive, but even if food is phenomenal, the way you are treated while dining says a lot about a restaurant.
