If you want to splurge, I'd say definitely come here. But if you are looking for a decently priced place or value for your money, don't come here. To say that this place is incredible is the understatement of the year! Our meal here was one of the best dining experiences ever! Camille was so friendly and accommodating! We were seated next to a roaring fire and were expertly guided through a small and well curated menu. We started with oysters paired with Riesling, shared the duck breast and filet paired with Pinot Noir, and finished with a creme brulee and the Mont Tremblant dessert paired with port and cappuccino! Perfect! Every last item! So good, in fact, that we came back the next night and dined at the bar where nearly every staff member made us feel right at home. Leave it to me to decide to take my wife to Mont-Tremblant for her birthday. There is nothing wrong with that...... Unless it coincides with the 23rd edition of the 24h Tremblant!! Extremely crowded (but raises money for a great cause) Our dinner at the Restaurant La Quintessence was one of the highlights of our trip. Our reservation was for Saturday (December 9th). Mehdi Boutin (Maître d'Hôtel) was gracious enough to secure us a nice table downstairs in the Wine Bar next to the fireplace. Comfortable seating and lovely ambiance got everything off to a good start. Our Waitress / Sommelier (Camille) provided just the right amount of attentiveness and information to make everything as good as it could get. We went with the 7 course tasting menu (along with the wine pairing). It was in the top 5 of all of the various meals I've had thru the years. Camille was great in her ability to answer any questions regarding the food coming our way and the wine that she paired us up with was spot on. I will refrain from describing each course. The menu is available on the website and I'll just say that every single course was the perfect size portion and prepared and presented wonderfully. You'll find the hotel and restaurant La Quintessence tucked between the edge of Tremblant village and Lake Tremblant. The restaurant overlooks the garden and lake. Double-doors from the restaurant lead right onto the terrace and garden. We came by on the Thanksgiving Monday during lunchtime and all was tranquil since the long weekend crowds had just packed up and headed home. We just wanted a little bite to eat so we decided to pay them a visit. There is valet service at the main entrance and the restaurant is downstairs. The hardwood interior gives you that warm chalet feel but the restaurant and hotel are by no means small. The staff took our coats and we were seated by the window as we requested. I ordered a side of fries to go with my beef tartar but asked to switch it with waffle fries and I was not disappointed! The waffle "fries" if you will, are thin layers of waffle cut potatoes deep fried to a crisp. They resemble more chips than fries. They were a treat to eat! The beef tartar with microgreens salad was quite alright. I didn't find that the cheese petals went with the tartar so I peeled them off and ate them separately. The French onion soup was rich and delicious and very filling. Have that with a side of bread and you're good to go! I made the mistake of getting a bottle of sparkling water figuring it would be about $6 or so... turns out it was a whopping $10. I mean, at that price, I could've gotten a glass of wine. I felt that the food and service was good and reasonably priced even for a 5-star hotel restaurant but seriously, $10 for a bottle of sparkling water is a bit outrageous. This restaurant is so beautiful and the view is spectacular! I was sold when I heard it was a winebar and it did not disappoint! The hotel itself where the restaurant resides is very beautiful. We were seated by the fire with a gorgeous view of the lake! We ordered a bottle of sparkling water, which was good, but $10 beware! We both had glasses of Pinot noir, which was juicy and filled with fruit notes. For lunch, I had the veal Milanese. It was hands down the best piece of veal I had. It was crispy on the outside and moist and juicy on the inside. The salad on top (oranges, radishes) was so bright and cut the fatiness of the veal. The sauce was a Remalode sauce that added a creaminess to the dish. I especially loved the fried capers, which added a hint of saltiness. My husband enjoyed the grilled salmon, but felt it was too small. The service was amazing! We would definitely be back! read more

We have mixed emotions with this place. We went last night and we did enjoy a very nice dinner in the bar with the cellar. Food was very nice and the service was very good as well. However, this morning we went back for breakfast, they were closing service at 10:30 and we were on time. The lady did not want to let us in. We were both having our proof of vaccination for COVID but I had not my picture government recognized picture ID with me. But again we had dinner the night before. She clearly did not want to let us in as I was to go get my ID but she said that when I will be back breakfasts will be finished. I was upset and we have left. I had very high hopes that were absolutely dashed by this place. We ordered their tasting menu and wine pairings. This was $200 per person. Even with the Tremblant premium I would expect a lot. There were a lot of problems: Food: The food was fine. It was well prepared but with a tasting menu I would expect the chef to be doing something interesting and show their creativity. The whole menu was really blah. It was all really simple stuff that seemed to be designed to be put together very quickly. Also, they included an amuse bouche as a course? If all else was good this would have been fine (boring but fine) but all else was not good. Wine: It was a little pedestrian and mean for $75. Had wines shared between courses on a couple of occasions? Again - would have been fine if we had not sat there without any wine for long periods of time. Service: The service was abysmal. The biggest issue was how slow they were. Dinner took over two and half hours even after we rushed them through the last two courses. We often sat 20-30 minutes between courses with no wine (because of the pairings.) This was beyond frustrating and tainted the whole meal. When we pushed them on this we were told they had a big party and so we should have expected it to be slow? Really? Isn't that your problem? Brutal. Beyond that - there were problems that I would usually overlook but I was angry enough that they drove me crazy. They included: 1. Not picking up cutlery between courses. It sort of seemed like they figured we just needed one set. When we left cutlery on a plate the next course often came before we new ones (and it is not like they didn't have time...) 2. They brought a course while one of us was away from the table 3. When we did raise our lack of satisfaction the manager never came by (though he came by several times as we were seated.) It is too bad because there is not a lot of great options around the resort. I feel like these guys are busy enough that they really don't have to be very good to succeed and I think they take advantage of that. If you are looking for a good meal take the $10 cab ride out to La Petite Cachee. We had a great meal there for half the price. read more

The quality of the food was very good, but the portions were extremely small and overpriced. I have enjoyed oustanding restaurants in Napa by reknown chefs and every single time I left satisfied and the portions and price were just right. Won't return. read more

This review is based solely on my experience in the restaurant, not in the wine bar. Anyhow, I'm not sure why the reviews are so low, because this place is very nice. Really quite lovely. Traditional, refined, and simple, yet much more than a steakhouse. Regardless, some business first. The restaurant is located at the Hotel Quintessence, at the base of the Pedestrian Village right on the lake. Don't bother parking at the paid lots as they have valet parking. Restaurant is on the lower level. Main dining room is attached to the wine bar. Main room is quieter, a bit stuffier, etc. while the wine bar is more lively. Dress code seems to be mixed. We came very casually. Sweaters, trousers, jeans, and collars were all present. The service is excellent. From the valet, to the maitre'd to our waiter to the other main (some sort of Management) everyone was simply lovely. So attentive yet not overbearing. On to the food. My dad had the winter salad to start and said it was very tasty, fresh, etc. For mains, I had the gnocchi served over pesto with some sort of pumpkin sauce ( vegan without the mozzarella), my dad had mushrooms with scallops and shrimps( just a variety of their sides) while my mom had the duck with yam purree. All dishes were fantastic. My gnocchi were THE BEST I've ever had.. and I've had many. The pesto was amazing. Portions are however, very small, even for fine dining. I'm not a big eater and I was still hungry after my dish while my dad's shrimp come one a piece and were like 8 CAD...but I guess that's a drawback of ordering sides/one course on my part. For dessert, my dad had the quintessential cheese plate, for which he chose hard cheeses and they brought 3 local Quebec ones, while my mom had the apple sample, which was apples prepared in a variety of ways, from puréed to fried to crumbled. They both enjoyed their desserts.The price is high, but to dine in such a restaurant in NYC would be double the cost AND in USD. With alcohol, tax, and included gratuity, our total was $300 CAD for 3 people. Basically $75 USD PP for fine dining, great service, great food, and a great time? I'd come back. read more

My wife booked us for a 5:30 birthday dinner for my 50th birthday. When we got the menu it was small and simple, but we had never been to this restaurant, so the simplicity was fine. Another family was seated the same time as us. We were served first and the food was fine, but the family that got seated the SAME TIME got this wonderful and huge dinner served to them, none of which was on our menu! When we asked the manager why we didn't have those dishes on our menu, we were advised that we were seated with our 5:30 reservation and they had a 6:00 reservation. I contested, "but we were seated exactly at the same time". Turns out we didn't qualify for the full dinner menu because of our 5:30 reservation. CRAZY, and by the way, the restaurant also DID know it was my birthday. Well our food was fine but my wife was HUGELY disappointed as she wanted to make my 50th Birthday dinner a memorable one. I comforted my wife and I assured her that SHE did a great job. it was the restaurant that missed out on a very large check and that THEY were the ones that really made my 50th Birthday MORE than memorable, and in a really shoddy way. I was amused that a restaurant of this caliber could be so bush league. In all, our family turned it around for us and it will forever be a great family memory. We helped ourselves to the hot chocolate in the hotel lobby and then proceeded to this beautiful restaurant looking out to a festively lighted Christmas tree, a bonfire and the frozen lake in the backdrop. My new husband and I are on our honeymoon and so disappointed in our experience here I just had to write a review from the beautiful Mont Tremblant. After carefully selecting this restaurant based on reviews of the hotel we decided to splurge on what we thought would be an amazing meal. The ambience is lovely and the staff very attentive and gracious, this is no way a reflection on the service. The menu is small and uninspired. We ordered cocktails that were good, the escargot appetizer and raw oysters and the rabbit and "ravioli" entrees. My husband and I are normal people. We have traveled quite a bit and don't mind paying a lot for a high quality meal and experience. However, we do not have so much money that we like to throw it out the window which is what we should've done with the wasted $250 experience. This restaurant may be great for you if you have hundred dollar bills printing out of your rear end and enjoy tiny portions of pretentious food. I would rather have a decent sized plated of working class shrimp, you know the ones that work nine to five jobs and have families, then two tiny shrimp caught from a magical ocean on the planet Mars. You get my drift, we aren't those kind of p. My husband's escargot appetizer needed a magnifying glass to see it. I kid you not it was three chopped pieces of escargot on a toothpick swimming in a bowl of green liquid. I seriously considered going outside and scouring the grounds for more snails to sizzle over our candle and give him to eat. The oysters were fine. Small, but fine. We decided at this point to suck it up and continue to be gracious to our very sweet server and just plan on ordering a pizza afterwards. The entrees came out next. My husband was just pleased the rabbit wasn't microscopic so he ate it without a fight. My "ravioli" on the other hand was the nail in the coffin for us. It looked like the chef ran out of what he was supposed to prepare for me and threw a chicken pot pie in a blender, poured the slop over one or two pieces of wide and mushy egg noodle and then threw some blue Lays potato chips on top. I wish I was joking. It tasted like blended hot vegetable baby food. When the elderly lose all of their teeth in a nursing home and can't chew food this must be what they are served except we paid $44 DOLLARS FOR IT. I was so disgusted I took a few bites, my husband took a few bites, we both half laughed half sighed and agreed it was the single worst thing we'd ever had to pay for in our entire lives. I wanted to send it back after the first bite and ask what hallucinogens the chef was on but my husband and I are both in the hospitality business and have family that owns restaurants in the states, etc, and didn't want to be those kind of people. Not to mention we are on our honeymoon and just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible and not make a spectacle in the very quiet and very slow restaurant. We're just not complainers. It was just horrible. The server cleared my plate and didn't ask any questions as we asked for our check as soon as she walked near. We just wanted to get back to our fireplace and blankets. Thank God we have a bag of Reese's peanut butter cups and a bottle of champagne right now to make it all go away. Horrible experience, total waste of our hard earned money. If you're staying in Tremblant and want some delicious fine dining food and to get away from all the tourists on the mountain, definitely come here. We were actually staying at the hotel Quintessence so we had a few different meals on our visit. Breakfast and lunch are casual but maintain the high quality ingredients. The outdoor seating of the restaurant overlooks the infinity pool and lake Tremblant. The view doesn't get more romantic. Breakfast on the weekend is a full buffet and during the week, they have a smaller buffet with a menu. One day for lunch I had this amazing coldwater shrimp from the Lower St. Lawrence and smoked trout, strawberries, yogurt and chives salad. It was just perfect for the summer. For dinner, we ate in the wine bar which is a little more upscale (same menu). We had the lobster with strawberries and yogurt, cream of beet with goat cheese, grated truffle along with scallops wrapped in prosciutto and rosemary for appetizers. For our entrees we venne lamb from Mont-Laurier prepared two ways: braised leg, and rack, flageolet beans with orange zest along with grilled fillet of beef, sautéed mushrooms, asparagus and grapes with pont neuf potatoes with herb and shallot butter and bacon which was cooked to perfection. Beautiful hotel and setting. The room was amazing. It would easily be 5 stars if not for the service at dinner and breakfast. It is not just that we are impatient Americans but they were incredibly slow to respond. For example, our appetizers and entrees both arrived before our rounds of wine to go with them, they didn't refill our water, we had to ask a busboy for dessert menus, then to take our dessert order. My husband asked a manager for the check and they still didn't bring it, I had to ask a bartender when I went to ladies room. It was just disappointing, especially given that the veal and lamb entrees were unbelievably great, just truly delicious. Breakfast was fine, but again, they didn't bring more coffee or a glass of water when we asked. If restaurant service was as attentive as masseuse and restn of staff, it would be amazing. read more

This gem was hard to find in the dark last week, seems they are 10 feet outside of the "Mont Tremblant" village so not on any of the maps. It's so worth finding. Classy, upscale, 'real' French food prepared exquisitely. We were seated in very comfortable seats, I had view of the beautiful room and bar area with bottles sparkling like Christmas ornaments. Quiet and beautiful it's relaxing just looking around. We started our feast with French onion soup, it was fantastic. The bread and butter that accompanied was warm and butter soft. In between We were delivered an amuse bouche.. YUM a tasty cheese filled profiterole sitting on a spoon so easy to pop right in! My main course was sable fish/ black cod on a bed of chard, and mashed fingerling potatoes port wine sauce Delicious! My friend had the duck and proclaimed it the finest duck she has ever eaten! Cooked medium rare it looked great. Dessert our waitress suggested, It was a meringue sitting in a pool of persimmons sauce with 3 flavors of sorbet, vanilla, raspberry and pineapple? it was fantastic.
