I'm a total novice at Pilates, so Tara took time to explain proper form and alignment, which I really appreciated. We spent the first part of the session doing mat exercises, and then she led me through some exercises on the Reformer. Tara was friendly, encouraging, and patient, and her explanations were very clear. She adjusted the exercises to my level (absolute beginner), but she also made sure that my form was totally correct, and I'm really grateful for that. Setting up the appointment through the Align website was easy, and I was relieved to find that the studio has its own parking lot, so I didn't have to worry about finding street parking. The studio space is clean, welcoming, and large. I'm looking forward to checking out the group classes at Align and maybe taking some more private sessions.

Gave SLT a shot while visiting my in laws for Fourth of July, because I do Pilates…read morefor cross training 3-4 times a week and wanted to stay consistent while on vacation for a few days. I had done two Lagree classes prior to trying SLT as well as a Solidcore class at one of their LA studios. I opted for SLT this time only because they had a 2/$40 intro deal which was a little more cost effective than paying the drop in rate at the Solidcore studio nearby. I showed up for my first of two classes, and the reception girl was nice and gave me a refresher on the megaformer but warned me "you'll be lost and that's okay". She actually advised me to "copy others" if that became the case. That should have been my sign to leave, as Lagree and Pilates are both about having proper form, not just "copying" another participant which can lead to injury. If your cueing is that bad where participants are "lost," perhaps you shouldn't market it as an "all levels" class. Then I find out the instructor I had signed up for was switched to Farah, which should have been my second sign to leave. Dang, was she is rough. And not in a good way. She's forceful, impatient, and comes off very pompous. She actually had us hold movements to a beat at one point, like what? You're supposed to count at a steady pace; what instructor worth their salt coordinates the movements to their playlist? I spent the first 20 minutes debating on whether I should just walk out before I decided to ignore her vibe and just sweat it out. Instead of leaving empowered to take on my day, I left demoralized and disappointed. Then I took Alexandra's class on my second of two visits, and it was night and day. She's truly the only reason I'm giving SLT 3 stars and not 1. She was the saving grace, as she offered fantastic cues and did good demonstrations that were easy to follow. If I'm "copying" anyone, it should be the trained instructor. Alexandra was also attentive to everyone and offered gentle corrections when needed. She was courteous and asked if I'm okay with hands-on corrections, which I appreciated as well. I thanked her for turning my experience at SLT around and left her class feeling strong and inspired. Can't say I'd ever go back to SLT though. I prefer studios that are a bit more professional and prioritize safety and form. Since those two classes, I racked up 6 more Lagree classes in California on top of my normal Pilates routine. Yet to have any experience get close to rivaling the awful class I had with Farah, and I vow to walk out of any instructor's class that times a movement to "when the beat drops."

The owner did a nice job of showing me the machine and explaining aaaalllllll the parts pieces and accessories... I teach on a traditional reformer and this was an ENTIRELY different ball game !! The coach was very good at constantly coming up to me and correcting form and pointing out when I wasn't listening/ understanding cues correctly- even your BRAIN needs to be turned on and ready to listen cause it's ALOT ! Hope they come to DC one day !

A year ago, I walked into Emily's studio--M Pilates and Yoga--with unbearable sciatic, low back, and burning compensatory pain across my glutes. No joke, at times, I felt like giving up. Today--a year later--I walked into the studio with some improper form that needed tweaking. Emily and her team address use a holistic approach, incorporating yoga, resistance training, classical and reformer Pilates to not only relieve your symptoms but to identity and repair the root cause(s) of your pain. Emily seems to be on a mission to help you as if your body were her own. The empathy she has for her individual clients and their individual needs is unmatched. The work I put in at M Pilates and Yoga with Emily changed my life. I stopped physical therapy because I had so much success at her studio. This outrageous outpouring of cliches is deservedly and genuinely outrageous due to the transformation that my body has undergone. If you have sciatica, low back and/or piriformis syndrome as a result of chronic disk disease and after countless surgeries and procedures you may feel where I'm coming from. Try three sessions at M Pilates and Yoga and prove me wrong. Otherwise, thank you, Emily!

She was very nice and introduced me to other clients as they arrived. It felt very warm and welcoming. She shared a lot with me before scheduling and that was impress. Most places just see clients and dollar signs. The Studio is diverse with various rooms where they do different things. The class I took was small and the instructor (Lauren) was knowledgeable and paid close attention to ensure everyone was doing the movements safely and getting the benefit expected out of each movement. I have severe lower back issues and I walked out of there feeling great! I look forward to my next session and think I've found an acceptable method to help me help myself naturally and keeps me off of the operating table for now. Thanks again MOXIE! Double thumbs up!!

Definitely worth the money (currently $50)…read more You get access attend classes both in-person and virtually as well as access to that weeks video recording of classes. I attended over 14 classes by either medium in this time. It was a great way to try out a bunch of classes to see what you like. I am personally not a dancer (beginner) and have done more yoga and there were plenty of options that weren't intimidating. The instructors I met were all very nice and welcoming. I'll include my two cents on each class below- but note as I said I am a beginner dancer and I also did not read the descriptions on the website before booking, i usually signed up through the app. *Fun tip for shy or dancing-intimidated people you can attend classes virtually first (or watch the past recordings for that class prior) if your are unsure of the difficulty level before you sign up for in person. Check the schedule before buying the trial or classes, there are not many afternoon/evening classes especially on the weekend. Pilates - Loved the pilates classes the most, attended several in person. It's not on the reformer machines, its on matts. This was doable and lightly challenging with my existing exposure to yoga. If you have no exposure, as with many of these classes, you'll catch on after a class or two. Dance Fusion - If you are a dancer or were a dancer in the past this is probably the class for you. It's a lot of choreo and you learn a routine during the class, line up in paris or groups and do the routine. Too hard for me but I didnt read the description prior and attended virtually so it was fine. Thrive - This was a fun calm dance class, lots of older ladies there. it incorporates chair yoga, dancing, legs and arms work outs. You can still work up a sweat and get your cardio in but it's not high intensity. Groovefit- I think this was my second favorite class. It gives zumba vibes Totalfit- cardio/aerobics and weights, not too hard. can get sweaty Ballet- I attended 1 session virtually and it was not too hard considering my lack of experience. I think they had people line up in the in-person sessions and do leaps/ sashets one by one etc, I would have been nervous doing that. Overall I had a great time attending classes at Studio 509, this deal was totally worth it. Highly recommend
