Ok...update. It did FINALLY come in today. David has been a pleasure to work with. And Nadia and…read moreJennifer were very nice. They're going to set our diamond with the custom order band while we wait. I still wouldn't recommend ordering something through special orders. But, in in the end we are very happy with the ring. I can't give five stars since we had gone through what's mentioned below, but they did their best to right a wrong. It makes me very upset to write this review, but perhaps I can prevent others from what I am going through. My fiancé proposed to me on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving with his mother's ring. We needed to at the very least get it resized. We decided to get a new setting for the diamond. About two years ago my own mother did the same for her ring from the 1980s. She loved Helzberg and had great service there with Nadia. So naturally, my fiancé and I went there since we were in need of the exact same service as my mother. When we arrived, no one greeted us (Nadia was kindly helping another customer). We had to walk up to the counter and Jennifer looked a little blankly at us and asked what we needed. I explained we got engaged two nights before wanted to reset the ring. No congratulations, no "what is your ring now?" No nothing. Just an "okay." I asked to see what they had in rose gold. She answered "Not too much, but here's one." I said it was nice but I wasn't sure if I loved it. She then asked if I wanted to then buy it. Um. No. I asked if they could order any settings for us and that we wanted to stay under $1000. So she takes me to their website and shows me rings over $1000. There was one that they had the comparable ring in store in yellow gold and decided it was worth the sacrifice to spend a little over $1000 for. She went to order it, but there were computer problems (i am guessing???) and another associate came over. No introductions nothing. So at this point we are all standing around a little awkwardly. Finally she says, "Sorry it is giving me trouble on ordering this." Ok, still willing to let it go because computers can be glitchy. Fine. Move along, right? NOPE! She tells us it will be at the most 2 weeks to order and then once it is in 4 days to reset. Then we are asked to pay in full. Which isn't a problem, but looking back, we would have preferred a deposit since it is two weeks later and the manager is trying to track down our ring. I guess we are the fools for going through with the transaction. Ok - so today, still no ring and no call on the status of it. I'm sorry, when we spend over $1500 on a ring and it is not at your store when you tell us it would be, we expect to know something about it. My fiancé called today and spoke with David who said he would look into it and call back. I was getting so upset I knew I had to call and let my feelings be known. Jennifer, of all people, answered. When I asked to speak with a manager I was given David. Who referenced the store manager in our conversation, so maybe there are multiple managers? Or I was falsely connected? David said, "though there is no defense, in our defense things can lost and it is the holidays. Typically you can only order this ring and deliver it to your house. It is not often delivered to a store." Okay - so I guess people buy thousand dollar rings without ever seeing them. Ok fine - maybe they do. It should be in by next Friday - an entire week later than the "latest date" we were given when we purchased it, IN FULL. We are going to see if we can get a credit, our money back or dispute the charge. When I spend thousands of dollars on our wedding rings and pay in FULL, I expect some sort of customer service - even if it is poor. But we did not get any customer service. Clearly, they do not need your business, so go find another jeweler for your fine jewelry needs.

Disappointing Experience - Exceptional Service Next Door at Kay…read more My partner and I visited Helzberg Diamonds to choose our wedding bands, a moment that should have been joyful. Unfortunately, we were completely ignored from the moment we walked in. It felt very much like we were overlooked based on our background as people of color. There were two employees present. An older gentleman was working there and helping another customer, but he never acknowledged us or welcomed us into the store. Meanwhile, the female employee was on the phone, hung up, and immediately answered the next incoming call instead of greeting us. At that point, we decided to leave. As we walked out, we politely but firmly let them know they had terrible customer service. We walked right next door to Kay Jewelers, and the experience was night and day. The team at Kay treated us with the utmost respect, provided wonderful customer service, and we proudly purchased our wedding bands from them. We highly recommend taking your business where every customer is valued equally.

Zales staff at Norridge location were rude and appeared to be agitated as one sales associate did not acknowledge by a simple greeting. Look at the other reviews! When I was there to drop off the ring, I also had the dog and no one said anything or complained. I was just running jn to pick up a ring I had resized. The man working first rudely told me no dogs and I had to go without even asking why I was there. I left, but turned around and came back because I needed this picked up. He said I could wait outside while they got my order finished. Thanks for making me feel like a hassle and inconvenience. I understand that there are rules but there was no need to be so rude. Not to mention, the ring is still too big. I don't think they did anything at all. I'll go elsewhere and I recommend you do too.
