I have been with Lauzen accounting for about a year now. Best move I could have made with my business. Switching over from Quickbooks, which was fine for what I did for years to a real accounting service brought so much more of my business to light. They have a team that is dialed in and responsive. I have never heard a recoding on initial call but may have had to go to a voicemail for specific person occasionally. Each and every time I had an issue to discuss it was handled promptly and with great expertise. Truly and sincerely, a poor experience here from a mid-sized firm. A great sales experience was followed by good startup and on-boarding process. What followed over the coming months was a series of mis steps, errors, staff problems, occasional downright unprofessionalism, and technology problems. Caution is advised. Some staff were just fine, others were really quite challenging on accountability. Many errors with payroll occurred over many months with numerous periods resulting in post-pay-period adjustments until the payroll team finally got our account right. And the team was changed up, implying growing pains, which are understandable. Repeat errors and explaining adjustment after pay periods to our staff are not understandable or acceptable. Getting summary payroll reports and data was challenging. For example, no spreadsheet output option exists so data reuse had to be re-keyed on our end. I suggest not using Lauzen for payroll service, should you decide to use them for accounting service. Process, workflow and handoff of duties between us and them was frequently challenging. Email is the primary communication Lauzen likes. What was most frustrating is that an impersonal tone frequently came through by certain staff. Q&A from ownership or team leads seems non existent. Several communications delivered a clear message of scolding my staff for not doing their part, which is unprofessional. During one period of frustration (which can understandably happen in a professional service business relationship), I requested a call from the principal. This was done multiple times by phone and email. He would not answer a direct calls. But moreover, my requests were completely ignored, altogether. His team was redirected back to me. Very unprofessional, but a business decision on how to treat his clients. Our section of Lauzen's secure online web portal for document exchange contained another company's financial content in it for many months. Documents existed from another Lauzen customer. I hope our content was, and is still, not floating around in someone else's secure portal section. Following repeated notification to Lauzen staff, it was finally removed. Competency on accounting in general, including quarterly returns, and tax planning with accrual to cash conversions for analysis, etc., was good. Rarely, if ever, did my key, assigned, contact at Lauzen answer the phone. Reaching out by phone always resulted in a call back, with most call backs on the next business day. It was challenging to even determine if she was out of the office, so frequent callbacks and requests of the front desk person were required to determine this. Of the three to five persons assigned to my company, when I requested it, we were refused a visit to our site (a very different experience from the sales process). Requests were flatly refused even though we are 40-ish miles apart. In under twelve months, we terminated our relationship. They charged a rather hefty fee for startup, which I have now learned to not do again. The very first accounting firm (considering 3 firms we have worked with over 18 years), in our experience, who work hard to limit their out of pocket. Perhaps a little thing, but no formal year-end document delivery whatsoever. Just PDFs. Here you go. Caution is advised when considering this firm for your business accounting needs. read more
