I have been going to Laveda for over a year. I get lash refills and bottom lashes. I original got them done on 14th Street but have been going to Wisconsin Ave for the past 4 months. The last time I had my lashes done by Nami they were itching something terrible. I thought it was going to stop but after a few days I had to make an appointment at the 14th Street location pay and have them removed. My appointment was with Shirin. Shirin said there was a lot of irritation probably because she saw glue all on my tear line. She asked me where I had been getting my lashes done. YOUR OTHER LOCATION! I used to get many compliments on my lashes before I started getting them done. With mascara on it looked like I had on lashes. I got tired of putting on mascara every day and taking it off at night. Now I look like I have no lashes at all even with mascara. I got my lashes professionally removed to save my lashes. It looks like they were cut off. I have no length at all, and they are not half as thick as they were. This is very upsetting. I should have just cut them off myself. When I got home and looked into my magnifying mirror, I noticed I still had three on and there was remaining glue. I ended up having a $30 credit on my account at the end of service. I told them to just keep it because I will never be back. I wish I had never started going there. My eyes now look awful. read more

I want to preface this by saying I want nothing from this business. I will not be returning as I have had 1 too many bad experiences at this location. During my most recent experience, I booked last minute as I was hoping Mina would be available at the 14th street location. She's the only one who has looked at me and known exactly what I wanted (natural cat eye) and delivered. Unfortunately, Mina no longer works with this company. So, despite my last experience at the Georgetown location, I decided to give it a shot. I walk in on April 5th and Bunni walks me to the designated area. She asks if I want the same thing (I was getting a fill) to which I say yes and she proceeds. At the end of my service, she hands me the mirror and I'm shocked. Stunned, if you will. What I received is nothing that I wanted nor anything like what I had. It looked HORRIBLE. I asked " is this a cat eye? " to which she replied, " no it's a kitten eye " um what? She continues on to say " it's longer in the middle. Also you asked for classic but you had a hybrid set and this looks better with your eye shape. " First of all, the classic v hybrid thing IS an issue. How do I keep asking for classic and getting clusters mixed in at this business only?? Regardless, if I ask for classic and I'm here for a fill, why not and classic lashes and make it look good? I clearly want classic. Secondly, the lashes Bunni added were thick or dark and twice the length of what I had. How is that close to what I already had? Third, who are you to tell someone what shape they want?! Lastly, as I'm telling her all of the things I don't like about it, Bunni is interrupting me saying "  you like it right?! You like it! " how she got that I like it idk but the pressure was TANGIBLE. I ended up paying because I was on a time crunch (left for vacation at 4am the next morning with a 5yr old) and let's be real, I tipped because I'm a black woman and #stigmas. I ended up going home and using scissors to cut the as close to the shape that I wanted as possible and then did what I could to make some of them fall out to create a natural effect. It's the night before the end of my vacation and I couldn't take it anymore. I'm pretty sure I ripped out a good amount of my real lashes trying to get the one Bunni did off. That's it for me and Laveda Lash. Pay more attention to your customers and not your own thoughts. read more

TL;DR this one star is a review of the unprofessional owner and not rest of the Laveda staff. I decided to try lash extensions for the first time ahead of a birthday trip. My first technician was great and I loved my lashes after. Unfortunately, 24 hours later, they were falling out for unknown reasons. I had already left for my trip so I sent an email to ask for tips to maintain them. Marcel, the manager, responded quickly letting me know that my experience was not normal. He suspected there was an adhesive issue. He encouraged me to text a photo of my lashes (which I did) and call upon returning from my vacation for a free fix (which I did). See the photo of the email I received. When I returned from my vacation, I called and explained the situation. They asked about the status of my lashes, and I shared that the majority of extensions had fallen out within the first few days. They said that's fine and scheduled me. When I went to the salon, I was asked again and I explained the situation. They started my service right away with no issues until 40 minutes in when the owner came over. At this point, my eyes are taped shut and the adhesive from the lashes that had been applied so far still wet. The owner explained that a lash fix is only complimentary after 5 days and that my technician would either need to wrap up or I would need to pay full price. WHAT? I told her that Marcel offered--without me even requesting--the free fix after my vacation. She told me that Marcel the manager is her husband, she was aware of what he told me, but that he tends to be overly accommodating... Very awkward situation for me considering that I can't do anything about it at this point, especially with her just reciting the company policy that I apparently violated and repeating that I could either pay or wrap up mid-service. Umm if there's a miscommunication between manager and owner, deal with that without involving the customer! So yeah, I left with partial lashes. And I share this for anyone who may experience issues in the future or wonder if they're being gaslit by an owner who couldn't bother to address said issues at any point outside of when I was physically incapable of engaging in conversation. The owner never came back out, by the way. The technician apologized and said she did her best--definitely not her fault. read more

If you are hype'd about the latest trends, then take your chance, in what would be considered, a medical procedure, in some circles, having your eyebrows micro bladed and with shading. First of all it hurts like a million bees attacking your forehead and you can't squint just sit there and take it, I was scared I would loose my dignity if I screamed for it was a quiet quant area. They stated some clients sad it was intense. Yo, don't be fooled, it felt like small cuts of a razor across your forehead, and the shading felt like someone stamping you forehead with 45 bic pens in a rhythmic manner. Shear hysteria I practice bikram hot yoga, so I can take pain , this is something next level I got the micro blading (shading) eyebrow treatment. Now the advertisement was 20% off the procedure. No where did it say it , this was a mandatory two part procedure. Buttt, you are now invested and you feel foolish to let your FACE, of all things, wear the mark of a failed attempt! You hope that it gets better, if you go under the recommendation of the semi professional after some time has passed ( two weeks) I was never forewarned what would happen in between time, only dap your eyebrows when they leaked. My eyebrows crusted, itched and flaked into my food and drink. If only I was forewarned this is what happens to tattoos. Never ever had I considered getting a tattoo in my life. I did not know micro blading was code word for tattoo. My technician said she neglected to give me paperwork to care for the wound, but is it not the responsibility of this organization to make sure they cover what they say, in writing as well-- RIGHT. No it only got worse The lesson here is. RUN do not feel the pressure to correct a mistake and then try to use your " eye" to direct the correction. There is a reason you entrust your face, something you will wear for all eternity. I guess that's why Megan Good has to pretend her eyebrows are exactly as she wanted. I booked a hydrodermabrasion & oxygen infusion facial through ClassPass for the same day. Upon entering, I loved the relaxing feel and spaciousness of the salon, which is located on the second floor next to Filomena. I was immediately offered a beverage when I arrived for my appointment. There is a separate room for facials which they keep at a very cool temperature. Ogii was my esthetician and she provided a very relaxing experience, and warned me if she was going to do something that was a little irritating to the skin. It was my first time getting that particular type of facial and steam, oxygen and water jets were used. The shoulder massage felt very nice too. It kind of felt like an all-in-one treatment. My main skin concerns are pores and redness, and this tackles that and much more, including evening out skin tone and really felt like a deeper level of exfoliation. They offer a range of services and I would love to go back and try another service! read more

This is my 2nd time going here. I went to the 14th street location and Joy was my lash tech. While my lashes turned out fine, I'm not pleased with her lack of cleanliness. The first time I asked her if she had hand sanitizer to use before starting and she said she had just washed her hands. She was so fragile that she then said oh do u want a new technician? I said all I was asking about was if your hands were clean. She took a long time but ultimately did a good job, which is why I went again. Fast forward to my 2nd visit. Still no sign indicating clean hands. I didn't see any hand sanitizer near her station. Nothing. I was nervous about it but let her do my lashes anyway. She talked a lot then finally seemed to focus and stop talking. However, twice during my session she stopped for at least 5 minutes. I had no idea if she was even still there or had walked away or what. She didn't say anything. Just stopped. She also kept texting. This really pissed me off bc everyone knows phones are disgustingly filthy. She'd text then plop the phone next to my head. Every time she received a message the phone would vibrate next to me and she would stop to text. Very unprofessional! I might go back but I definitely won't be going to Joy. read more

I also booked the Russian Manicure service and less than halfway through the service I noticed she had no clue what she was doing. I've been a regular at their other location. I was very pleased with this location! Much less crowded (so easier to get an appt and less wait time). Super friendly staff. And this might be the best set of lash extensions I've gotten from Laveda! At this location, the tech really took her time and nailed the hybrid look. Previously, at the other location, they never spent more than 45 mins with me and the lashes were typically too sparse or too full. And this location is just beautiful, clean, and peaceful. Just received the most insipid pedicure I can recall ever receiving. The "massage" was more like a half-hearted attempt to apply lotion. Dead skin not effectively removed. Chairs have no massage function and are stuck in a rigid upright position. $45, my back aches, my legs are just as tired as when I walked in. No thank you! I'll go somewhere else. I really want to love this place. However, the manicure stations are so uncomfortable. There nowhere to hang your purse and you're paying Georgetown prices for mid-level ambiance. The last two time I have gone, my gel-X nails lasted a week and a half. Their website advises that your set should last three weeks but mine haven't. Called to reschedule for next day and they simply didn't care and said no. Again, paid all that money to have me come back sooner versus doing it right the first time. Since it was my first time I didn't know if it was going to be done before or after lamination so I didn't say anything. I assumed since this was mentioned in the description of the service it would be done. My brows were not trimmed or shaped up at all. I asked after and was told they're too sensitive to wax after. After searching for a salon that accepted Google pay/ tap to pay services I stumbled onto this Georgetown Gem. I got a gel pedicure and gel polish and my partner received a full gel mani and pedi. Coming from the Bahamas we are big on customer service and hospitality_ so this trip to DC was a but of a culture shock given the aggressive service culture. I would really have liked to give them a nice review but I went to get my lashes done today and I spent an hour in pain because she got the lash remover solution in my eyes multiple times and we had to frequently stop so she could use a fan to blow on my eyes to keep them from stinging. I am so disappointed with the service from the 2200 14th st location. I was excited because how nice it looked. However the quality was so low. I had to ask her to use the proper callus tool. Then it was time to dry my feet and i was awkwardly trying to dry them with one mini dryer not on the floor but with feet raised. I asked were they done without her checking she said "i don't know". Then i tried to get down and NO one offered to help me with my bag or shoes. I was in a tight spot. Meanwhile i observed them treating others with kindness and appreciation. I would hate to believe I was being discriminated against. At the end I voiced my concern without trying to get anything. Instead of apologizing and reassuring she said "she is highly requested". Wow! The bar must really be set low. She appeared to be the least kept one there not to be shallow. But not a care for me one bit as a paying customer.
