I was hesitant to come here because my friend told me not to because they drilled too deep into her nail it literally bled and took more than a month to heal. She was traumatized and literally swore off manicures I haven't seen her gotten one again since. Regardless I thought to give it a chance thinking maybe it was an accident... I really really really wish I hadn't. I came on a Monday towards the end of the day. They were pretty slow compared to other salons so I was seen right away. Everything seemed fine at first until she took a look at my month old acrylic set and tried to push it off hard with her fingers which I found odd. It hurt so much I literally jolted on my seat. She immediately apologized and I moved past it but that should have been a warning sign. She then used a drill to remove the old set. She did a sloppy prep job and was very rough and painful. Every time I reacted she would apologize but then continue being rough anyway. She was rough in every step I wanted to cry, but held back. She nicked me several times too around the sides of the nails and the cuticle area that it bled. It's been several hours after the service and my nails still feel sensitive and sore. Either she drilled too deep that it thinned out my natural nail or the speed was too fast it burned my nail beds, I'm not sure, but I am in pain. I also want to point out that they were very impatient when I was trying to decide what color I wanted. I honestly don't think I took too long. It's easy to have a nail inspo on my phone but sometimes seeing their similar samples against my skin helps a lot, it's a $70 service that will last 3 weeks, i wanted to make sure i loved the color.. my nail tech complained and was giving me a lot of attitude and even started complaining to the other staff, they all looked at me and I felt so pressured and embarrassed.. She even made me feel bad at the end of the service saying every other customer left and I'm the last one even though we finished just in time when they closed at 7... She didn't bother to close me out, another person helped me. I showed her the nicks and cuts that the nail tech did and she dead-ass gave me an "idgaf" face and asked me to pay.. I still tipped $15 in cash regardless of everything...still 20%.. I didn't want to.. I left feeling so disappointed and in pain.. I have never before experienced such bad service from nail salons even from other countries.. I have never been nicked before or over-filed.... my nails look nice, but it's definitely not worth the experience.. not worth the pain I'm still feeling right now. I am absolutely never coming back here. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I should have listened to my friend. I am working on speaking up for myself so I am writing this review, I am not surprised to see a lot of bad reviews here as well from other clients.. There are 10+ other nail salons in downtown Walnut Creek alone and though I haven't been to them all, a lot of them are definitely significantly more professional, clean, respectful, careful and considerate. read more

My daughters had their nails done at lavender yesterday. They asked the price and the tec told them $70. Neither technician told either of the girls that there would be a $15 up charge for a design on their nails. Interestingly, one girl was charged $85 and the other one was charged 90 for the very same design. That's some pretty shady business taking advantage of young girls who may not know how to navigate services or dishonest employees. read more

I'm really disappointed with the quality of this manicure. Before I even left the salon, there were visible spots along the edges of multiple nails where the gel/polish was missing or not fully covering the nail. The application looked unfinished and uneven around the sides and cuticles. Once I got home, my nails immediately started snagging on things because the edges weren't filed and sealed properly. For a fresh set, the nails should feel smooth and finished -- not rough enough to catch on clothing and hair the same day. I truly dreaded making this review. I went here hoping to get builder gel w/ a neat and even elongated French tip... that didn't happen. The French tip was very sloppy and uneven initially. I dreaded alerting the nail tech because I'd didn't want to cause drama... however I ended up going back to let them fix it. The owner attempted to fix it (earned then 2 stars), but it actually turned out worse so I just had her remove the french tip and leave my nails pink clear. I left with a cut on my finger which is throbbing. The polish was placed a mile away from my cuticles and my nails already look 2 weeks old. This is unacceptable. read more

I've been coming here for a few years, but the service has gotten worse. I went in for an acrylic full set and left with damaged nails. The technician was nice, hence the two stars, but she filed into my skin twice, causing deep cuts that bled. I let the first one go, but after the second, I asked to have the set removed. She had also over-filed my nail sidewalls and left glue under my nails. When I asked to remove them, she told me to let it heal, but I insisted. She had me soak my hands in acetone, which I couldn't do properly because of the cuts. After just a few minutes, she wiped my nails and told me to wash my hands, even though glue and powder were still there. I asked another worker/manager for help, but they sent me back to her. She repeated the same process and used a drill to remove the rest, leaving my nail beds weak and over-filed. They offered a discount for my next set, but after this experience, I won't be returning. read more

The services are misrepresented, the owner and people are rude. If you go into get a manicure, all you will get is a paint job, without a base coat even. It's already way too expensive so you'd expect a certain level of quality. They failed to mention extra charges for just them even bothering to touch your cuticles for a service that's already way too expensive for basically nothing. I can paint my own nails. I was also pressured and forced into a service I did not want. $70 for a manicure with aspects I was not interested in. A lot of sales pitches and I was pressured into what I didn't want. The front desk person was extremely condescending and rude. I just left there less than an hour ago and already have to refile and fix what the tech did because I am also bleeding from the unlisted, additionally charged cuticle cutting and the entire service was barely 20 min. I also have polish ALL OVER my hands and fingers. DO NOT GO HERE. wish i could rate it worse. since apparently vibe is an option here that they wont even let me select i need to say this is a BAD VIBES COMPANY. Avoid avoid avoid. ALSO. bad reviews on google will present as a "oops something went wrong" message over and over so they are not allowing for bad reviews. read more

Honestly I didn't really want to write this but I am so disappointed. I would also like to preface this by saying I was charged the full $90 for the service. I asked the nail tech (Tony) for a long white french acrylic and a removal of my previous set. It took her about 45 minutes to do a soak off. My friend, who was getting her nails done next to me, was nearly finished with her service by the time she managed to remove my old nails. When she began to file them down she burned my nail beds several times despite me reacting and asking her to be gentle, and she also cut the edge of my fingers three separate times so that she had to wipe the blood off on the towel. When she finally started applying the acrylic she started over so many times that three other nail people had to come over and help her figure out how to shape my nails (I'll include a picture), and then when they began to paint someone else entirely took over and hastily finished, as by then it had been literally. Two. Hours. For a white french. I could immediately feel that the structuring of the nails was weak and the shaping was uneven, but by that time I was too tired to argue and just wanted to leave, and they clearly wanted me gone too. Granted, this is where I messed up- I should have demanded a redo or removal at no extra charge, but I couldn't find my courage. They did not apologize for injuring my hands or for the time I spent sitting there for my nails to look awful. Today, (two days later) one of the nails completely snapped off. I am sure the others will follow as I can already feel them lifting. 0/10, would not recommend paying $90 for nails that break in two days. Do better Lavender. read more

I swore I'd never come back here, but I was in nail-crisis mode for a wedding and thought I'd give it another chance over a year later. I figured maybe things changed. Now, my expectations for this place were low to begin with, so to lower the review is a big step down. Regardless, I was still surprised by how bad this was. First, the shake down for adding a pedicure or getting gel. No matter how many times I tell them I don't want gel--"You should get gel, you should get gel, you should get gel"--yeah, so you can get more money out of me! I moved past this bc it's typical, but then my actual manicure was terrible! I get my nails done TWICE a year max. I usually just do it at home but for a wedding or other special occasions, I like to make sure it looks extra nice for photos, well, guess what? I could have done a better job! My nails were literally cut jagged, and had legitimate sharp edges from the terrible clipper job he did. He barely filed them too. I had to go home, retrim them, refile them, and repaint them. Then the manicurist was so rough with the cuticle trimmer that he dug into my skin, like literally took the prongs and just went straight into my very-alive-not-dead-skin nail bed with it and didn't stop until I yanked my hand back. Then I bled for five minutes. Had to go home and rinse everything with antiseptic and wear a bandage for two days. Making matters worse, my tech was clearly dealing with some virus/cold, and had snot dripping out of his nose while he was doing my manicure and was coughing, sneezing, sniffing the entire time. Can't make this up! I get that people get sick (hello, I'm human), but please, please, please do not be in close contact with clients when you have active mucus dripping out of your schnozz. While I obviously don't want to get sick, it's just a gross environment to be in--getting your nails done, being in close contact with someone who has snot dripping out of their nose. My sister was next to me, and she was horrified and kept looking at me like, "Is this really happening?!" Yes. Finally, I decided because of the fact that I was going to be redoing my entire manicure at home and likely would be battling some flu-bug from hades, I was going to leave it at 25 dollars (the flat rate for the service) and the lady at the desk goes "Just 25?" as if she couldn't believe I wasn't tipping. This place is ABSURD! My mistake for going back and wanting to give it another try--I got my just desserts by paying 25 dollars, which would have been better put to use by lighting it on fire in the parking lot. i recently have had 2 pretty poor experiences here in the past 10 days :( and will no longer be going here. but if you do find yourself here: ask for KAYLA. 1) the nail maven i usually go to went on vacation (Kayla) and they had another man do my nails (acrylic fill, flat color-- nothing crazy because Kayla does design and everything best). my nails 6 days later began lifting and 3 have chipped/broken since done by him so not a long lasting experience. i decided i will go somewhere else due to poor quality and no ETA on when Kayla would be back. 2) 8 days later from the fill appointment, my family in town actually booked here for a pedicure date with our daughters (holiday fun). i was going with a group of us so went along to get a pedicure with my daughter too. And unfortunately I received a very rude, gel pedicure from a woman there. she got annoyed with me when i asked for the placement of a design she was doing on my toe to move to the corner of my big toe rather then the center of my big toe so it could match my daughter's toes (being done by someone else). she was visibly irritated and very rude and skipped the niceties (lotion hot stones exfoliating sponge brush) of pedicures that i usually get there as well......I don't think she knew that because i always went to Kayla. so reason # two was a piss poor personality experience and rudeness. ive been going here for about a year mainly for Kayla. but now will be going elsewhere. after 2 poor experiences in 10 days, with the best one gone --- Kayla. I'm gone too. and will be getting my nails fixed down the way. bonus complaint: ALSO-- they charge kids over 8 years old as adults. so my non teen child was charged $55 for a pedicure. and the response from the business you see below is AI. LOL be safe out here yall. read more

I've been coming here for about six months and usually had great experiences but my last two visits were disappointing. I booked my usual builder gel fill but was charged for a new set even though the procedure was exactly the same. The service felt rushed , finished in about 30 minutes and my nails weren't filed evenly. The polish also started chipping shortly after, as shown in the photos. I made an online reservation, but when I arrived, they didn't have it right. I even saw them manually writing down the info in a notebook, which made me wonder why online booking is offered at all. My daughter had the Princess Experience, which she enjoyed, but I wasn't able to sit next to her like I had hoped. I also booked a regular pedicure for myself but was given gel instead -- resulting in a much higher charge than I expected. The pedicure looked nice, but it was a bit uncomfortable and rough. Overall, the experience was mixed. Some sweet moments, but the lack of organization and communication made it less relaxing than I had hoped. read more

They don't know how to properly remove gel. It doesn't matter if it's builder gel or regular gel -- it should be removed correctly depending on the material. My natural nails were badly damaged because of their improper removal. I spoke to the store manager, and she told me it's "totally normal" to have damage if you had builder gel on because it's "hard to remove." That is not an acceptable explanation. I had a great experience here. I made an appointment for the evening but was tired of waiting so walked in earlier and they sat me immediately, yay!!! I told the lady what I wanted but she was telling me a different type of nails would better serve my lifestyle. Dip being thicker and more sturdy and gelx being more for an event. I got the dip with tip and these are some of the sturdiest nails I've ever had. It's been 15 days and they're still hanging in there. I hit my nail really hard the other day, thought it was a goner. There was a SMALL crack but the mail STAYED ON! Very impressed. Will be coming back here. One downfall was that I asked for French manicure, not pink and white. I really think pink and white is a thing of the past. Very tacky looking. I understand they need to use a darker color than my nail bed but I've had other salons use a sand color that is way more natural looking than the pink and white. Any more pink and my nails would have been HOT PINK! Luckily it seems the pink faded over time. read more

I found this place for a friend's daughter who wanted to do a mani/pedi for her 7th birthday. I was stoked because they have two children's chairs for the little ones! One is princess themed and the second is Hello Kitty. They are so cute! More importantly, the staff here was so great. I got a mint regular pedi, and my daughter got the princess mani/pedi. She got Ian, who was sooo freaking nice and patient!! I was so glad my daughter was matched with him. She always needs someone who is patient and kinda easy going, because she is a liiiittle bit high maintenance! He was joking around with her, and trying to keep things light. She ended up crying to me because she wanted sparkles on top of her nails (but she never mentioned this) and I told her it was too late because Ian has already done the top coat. He saw her crying and then came over and did the sparkles for her!! I was so touched by this. I usually don't like enabling that kind of behavior, but he was so sweet, and honestly, you could tell how happy it made her! I hope she learned her lesson that she should let them know ahead of time what she wants done :) Now I am considering having my daughter and a couple of her friends here for her birthday coming up in May. The environment here is so cute and it is right on the street, you just have to park at the parking structure down the street and a short walk to the salon. As another side note, the website is super user friendly and you can schedule and change your appointments so easily on there! It is definitely a huge advantage as well. I am a big fan. read more

I happened to walk over to Lavender and now I only come here - this is my go-to spot! I've come here dozens of times now and each one has been a positive experience. The service from start to end is consistent, friendly and fast. My gel fingernail polish stays on for weeks and I feel they take their time and care about their work. I will give a couple stars because of my first experience. Everything was smooth and I had a good experience. So naturally I decided to come back and the service I received was NOT even remotely the same this time. I was shocked. I spent $50 on an express pedicure and had a list of issues that I just got tired of asking to fix and walked out frustrated never wanting to come back. 1. When the technician started painting my nails, I noticed it was not the color I asked for. When I asked to correct it, the lady kept telling me, "It's the same! It's the same!" Well if it's the same, why did I bother to tell you what color? And why not just have one color of white? I picked a softer white and she was giving me "French Nails" which was a hard stark white like white out. She finally grabbed the correct color but left the base of the two nails she already started on with the incorrect color instead of just taking off the wrong one and starting over. 2. Then as she proceeded to put the correct color on. I noticed the nail on one of my big toes was cut and shaped at a diagonal, literally taller on one side and not even. When I asked her if she could fix the shape and tried to explain what I was seeing, she got frustrated with me and handed me the file!! I didn't know what to do so there I was sitting in the chair with my foot up trying to file my own toe! She then slapped some nail polish on but realized that she didn't prep it or finish sanding and the nail was so rough so she had to take the color off for the second time. I was shocked at this point. 3. As I was waiting for my nails to dry, I noticed the same big toe started puddling with too much polish on one side of the nail bed. I pointed it out and asked if she could clean it up, and she seemed thoroughly annoyed at me at this point. She took the paint off for the third time and rushed through painting that toe. I was left with a messy looking pedicure on one side. 4. Also frustrating that my pinkie toe isn't painted properly to the shape of my nail. And I am left with so much dead skin and my toes look like I didn't get a pedicure I walked out feeling I was annoying the person who did my nails. I walked out with frustration, anxiety, and disappointment only to spend hard earned money on a not so great experience where I was hoping to spend some money on feeling relaxed and pampered. I will definitely try another salon next time. read more
