I bought a Groupon for Velashape here. I was curious about body contouring and had never tried any of this type of service. I asked for the treatment for my abdomen area. My first treatment was very comfortable considering that I enjoy deep tissue massages. It was very stimulating! I was pleasantly surprised it it also took care of my bloating. The spa was clean. First of, I have to say the outside of the place looked very deceptive because it did not look like the pictures online. But when we came here, the store was upstairs and I was amazed how different it looked like from the outside to going upstairs to the place. When you first walk in, we were greeted by the receptionist where she knew our name by appointment. I found this place through Groupon and brought their package of two 60 min signature massages for my friend because it was for her birthday. We had our appointments at 12:30 but we came in 20 mins earlier to wait. When we arrived, the waiting time was not long so we seated ourselves and waited a couple of minutes until the receptionist brought one of us in. There was only one masseuse so my friend and I would be going back to back. While we were waiting, the receptionist asked us if we wanted tea or water. It was very nice gesture and great service. The receptionist called us in for the massage and waited for the masseuse to come in. The massage was an hour long. The massage was the best massage that I've had in a long time. The masseuse we had was name Jenny. Very sweet Asian lady. Services were wonderful. The receptionist is very friendly and sweet. Always smiling! Excellent services. My update is simply this. This place is great I am happy with my results I got my underarms done as well as a Brazilian Lazer hair removal. I didn't experience any discomfort or discoloration. It's been about a year since I had my under arms done and yes hair has grown back but it's very minimal. I few strands here in there. I wait about two months before shaving. They did recommend touch up treatments which I will likely purchase but I am going to wait until the start of the new year when I can fully check the results of my brazilian. Last session will be today and besides a few strands here and there the results were equally amazing. This place is Brown Girl Approved. I also wanted to add that they will charge you a no show fee. And likely that results in a loss of that session. I've never not called or showed I always call to cancel a few days in advance. They are good with rescheduling and send me an email with a confirmation. I have been late numerous times and they do see me but I have to wait which is fine. The sessions here for VelaShape are only 15 minutes. I've researched this and have spoken with other spas that use VelaShape and have been repeatedly told that the MINIMUM time needed to see results is 30 minutes. Other spas usually offer 30 minutes. So I realized that the "great deal" you find on Groupon is actually not so great because you are not getting the time you will need to see any results, just wasting money. On top of that, the technicians are RUDE. They think they can treat you however they want, speak very rudely and one woman told me, "if you don't like it then just leave." It's like wow, F for customer service. And then the technician won't shut up, if you bring up some discomfort they just argue with you the whole time so you don't even get the full 15 minutes anyway, more like 10 minutes. All in all, TERRIBLE service and in my opinion skeptical treatment quality. I think there are better options than this place. read more

Such nice girls work here. Emily is such a sweetheart. She is so patient answering all your questions and takes the time to treat you like your her only client. I really appreciate her and the receptionist being so warm to me when I come to their beauty spa. They know me by name and I feel so welcomed. The interior is beautiful, calming, and most of all lavender! I am so happy and comfortable when I come here. I love their lounge area. They even offer you tea or water. Although their services can be pricy (understandable considering it's Manhattan) I would say their service of putting customers at ease is worth it! This spa is incredibly clean. I get laser hair removal done here and have been going for about a year now. My skin tone is medium so I always look for a place that has been vetted by other PoC. And so far after a year of laser hair removal I have not experienced any hyperpigmentation or burns. And my hair growth has decreased significantly. So I definitely recommend this place!! read more

I think the lady who was there this evening at 6 pm exemplifies GREAT customer service. I was a little weary because I figured at this time of day she would be rushing me out the door or just ready to leave but she was so attentive, very polite and gave me all the information I needed to feel comfortable proceeding with the cryoprobe removal. I have been coming here for laser for more than two years now, and I am very happy with my results. I honestly don't think I have ever repped a laser place as much as I have with Lavenvelle. My technician's name is Emily - I would highly recommend her! She is the best I have ever had, and I always feel very comfortable during our sessions. The entrance could use some improvement, but other than that, the inside of the spa is clean, tastefully designed, and the staff is very friendly and attentive. I have never had issues scheduling, rescheduling, or cancelling appointments; the staff is prompt and considerate of wait time; and most of all - the laser treatments are very effective for producing actual long-term results, with the use of up-to-date, modern machinery with a simultaneous cooling system for minimal discomfort (this is so important - I have had a bad experience at other places where the machines used caused burning and major pain so much so that I did not complete my initial session and never returned). read more

Got a Groupon for half-price service of a 15 minute back massage/45 minute reflexology. The setting is very warm and comfortable. The music is soothing. The massage room was the perfect temperature, not too hot or cold. I was pleasantly welcomed. I was given more back time and less foot time based on my needs which was perfectly fine with me. My fiance and I came for a 60 min massage, I chose the hot stone massage and he did the deep tissue. The place is clean and the receptionist is friendly (2stars). The massage itself fell very short. Easily one of the worst massages I've ever received. I bet the masseuse was not professionally licensed, her technique was ... there was no technique. She took the stones and rubbed them in circles as fast as she could like she was in a race. Her hands fell wherever they pleased and she'll then push and kneed. It felt like getting a massage from someone whose received 0 professional training. I mentioned I had a tight spot and she was causing it pain. She insisted that causing it pain was the only way to make it better. I let her do her thing although I had a feeling it was a bad idea. Needless to say, I am now in even more pain than earlier. The area of concern has not only worsened but spread. Sigh. When the hour was over, she said she had no time for me to turn around and advised for me to increase my time and spend more money. I've been to 50 minute massages where they have enough time to get to your front. My fiance also said his massage was terrible. He told her his hamstrings and knees were his problem areas and she didn't massage those parts at all. read more

I immediately made the purchase and I called the next day to set an appointment. The commute was fairly easy, I took the 3 train and then a six min walk. The location is near 34th St., which I loved because I got to browse around afterwards lol. Upon entering, it wasn't too pleasant it honestly looked kind of scary walking in the building until I asked the elevator man where to go, and he directed me to the elevator to the second floor. When I got upstairs, the establishment was nice, clean and spacious. When I checked in I was told by the front desk lady that there was going to be a one time charge of $10 with my Groupon voucher. I paid and then waited less than five minutes to be seen. My laser tech was super friendly and sweet. I believe her name is Alexandria if I am not mistaken and she was very knowledgeable. She asked me if I had any questions to make sure I was good before we proceeded. It literally took five minutes for my underarms. Hi highly recommend and I can't wait to go back for my second session :)

More importantly, I came here for laser hair removal and it's been no complaints on my end. The technicians are really thorough and the lasers stop my hair growth in unwanted areas. I've done full Brazilian front/back and under arms. Just renewed my package for another year. They have deals year round!
