This review is specifically for the coffee snobs- for the people who know and love great coffee. First, the good: this place is super cute. There is a little bit of really great seating in the front. A big comfortable couch, a good selection of foods, and a cool vibe. It looks like the kind of place you'd want to come hang out for a bit, even though there's not a ton of seating. I did notice they had fresh wraps as a lunch option with a good selection of chips, and everything looked delicious. Second, the bad: The place doesn't smell like coffee. Mind you, I was only the second customer of the day. But you know when you walk into a great coffee shop, and the smell of good coffee hits you in the face? Yeah, they don't have this. Which means this... most people will like their coffee just fine (we had mochas, so that's really all I can speak to). It's a little sweet, but the flavor is fine. But my mocha doesn't taste like coffee. It tasted like hot chocolate. And it's disappointing to seek out (and pay $5 for) coffee that doesn't taste like coffee. A mocha should have primarily a coffee taste with the mocha second. Again, most people will like this place. But for those of you who really care about coffee, you might want to drive on into Birmingham and try your luck there. read more

Better than Starbucks. Lol. It's not as sweet as Starbucks. Also it's not as strong. But I'm sure that just depends on what you get. I love Starbucks but only get it once or twice a month when I go to Birmingham. After today I will be able to have my good coffee weekly. I actually would prefer lavish over Starbucks because I really don't like sweet. Just get the White Mocha with extra shots of expresso for 75 cents more. My kids loved this place when they had the Boba balls. We're not rich enough to buy the clothes or jewelry in lavish but the drinks were affordable when they had them and we love the vibe in the coffee shop. I am pleased to review Lavish Coffee Bar as it is Jasper's first official coffee bar! I work in town and have been left without a local coffee bar to go to for that past 3 years of working up here! They are a local small shop connected to the Lavish Boutique shop but nevertheless have a full coffee bar and that is just what this city needs! I typically work in Birmingham but have a few cases in Jasper recently to where I need somewhere other than a restaurant or my car to review my work. Thank goodness for Lavish! From the moment I walked in the staff was helpful to my coffee decision. I ordered an iced Lavish coffee with an extra shot of espresso. It's pretty sweet, but totally yummy. They also offer great little bites to eat. The white chocolate raspberry scone... OMG- sooo tasty! Highly recommend getting that. The atmosphere is welcoming and there's several places to sit. The music is a little louder than what I'd like for a coffee joint, but great choices in station and artists. I'm thankful to have Lavish here in Jasper! read more

Great service and great atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and will try to make what you want even if it's not on the menu. Having roots in Miami, I'm always craving a coladita or cuban coffee. They are very hard to find in most areas, but the girls at lavish improvised and made me the closing thing possible without having sweetened espresso. It turned out great. Thanks ladies for helping appease my craving. I would definitely suggest giving them a shot if you haven't already. read more

My husband and I moved from San Diego and when we arrived we were on the hunt for some good coffee. After some weeks of just gasoline station coffee (witch was pretty decent) we heard through the grapevine that a coffee shop was going to open in Jasper. Lavish immediately gets a higher ranking for being a coffee shop that does it right. Before this place there was no where to get a decent coffee and pastry. I've learned a lot about coffee since living in Jasper since I've had to learn to make my own. With that said.. I always get a cappuccino as a litmus test in evaluating a cafe. It's a simple drink that requires a 1:1:1 ratio of foam, steamed milk and espresso. It's a good way to evaluate a barista's skill. The foam should be sort of a micro froth; the bubbles no to big. Technically there shouldn't be too much milk but I understand Americans gravitate toward larger drinks, regardless of quality so I won't knock off points for that. Even when ordering an extra dry, my Lavish Cappuccino has too little foam and the foam bubbles were too big. Milk was steamed way too hot that when it finally cooled down it was no longer foamy, so I was basically just drinking a latte with some bubbles on top. Regardless of an imperfect cappuccino I'm just glad there's somewhere to get coffee now besides McDonald's. I don't know anything about the coffee beans Lavish uses, but it is good coffee. Rich and nutty, not sour or too acidic at all, slightly bitter but certainly not with a burned taste like Starbucks. The big bonus now is Lavish offers donuts from We Have Donuts based in Bham. I was shocked that a Jasper business would dare do business beyond its borders, and I really commend them for taking this step out that might turn some folks into nay-sayers. Lavish has a cozy southern style environment that I'm sure the clientele loves. They did and are doing an overall great job. read more

Really good coffee! I ordered the hot lavish latte and they did not disappoint. It was really smooth with a great rich flavor. My boyfriend ordered the iced version and it was really good too. The staff was very friendly and upbeat. I really hope this business makes it! I wish their baked goods were a little more fresh and the muffins were quite expensive for what the product was.
