Late lunch yesterday. I ordered the ribeye sandwich with fries. Honestly one of the best ribeye sandwiches I have ever eaten. Fries were good but nothing to complain or brag about. Service was good and staff was friendly. The restaurant is set ina refurbished older building but is really nice but simple. Only issue is the daily special board is hard to read from table because the writing is small. Had to get up and stand in front of board to read it. Overall excellent experience and I will go again and recommend to others. read more

Leap of Faith...wife, friends and I were traveling and again relied on YELP for a restaurant (lunch) suggestion. We settled on Five Loaves and followed directions to a college building (?????!!). Trusting the fairly high YELP rating we sat in the cafeteria-like space and were greeted by a personable and attentive waitress. The menu was extraordinary and filled with an awesome selection. We ordered a variety of standard dishes (meatloaf, salmon, tuna, and salads) that were tasty and unique, non-standard recipes. The sides were equally good and I suggest you try the cornbread salad. The portions were large and the food quality was high. They did "miss" on overcooked carrots, but everything else was great. The venue vs food caused some laughter as it was just so strange in comparison. But we left satisfied and feeling we'd had a very rewarding adventure. read more

Not always wise to purchase an omelette from a bakery but the cashier didn't steer me wrong!! It was DELICIOUS & the grits (which I ordered w cheese, but wouldve been JUST FINE without them) we're impeccable! Flavorful but not overseasoned. The food took longer than she said it would and I was in a rush & it's little pricey for my blood but 10 outta 10 would recommend just not in a rush. I was expecting a legit bakery and I was kind of disappointed after my experience. There was ONE cooler/fridge with a few cakes inside and the lightening wasn't great. It is a venue, so maybe the dimmed lightening is for that? I was shocked not to see fresh pastries or fresh bread! I had the veggie sandwich and sweet potato fries... it wasn't bad. The content within the sandwich was very flavorful, but the bread was regular sandwich bread and ended up falling apart due to the saturation of the Greek dressing ... this place has potential and I will try it again to update my review. read more

The absolute best! Amazing food, great staff, and very accommodating to meetings and bible study.

I always love the food but I haven't been to this restaurant in months because of the high prices. I would expect high prices in Homewood or a big city, but this is Jasper. No one wants to pay $13.95 for a burger and fries or over $10 for a salad. I really wish the prices would go down, even if it's just $1 or $2 a plate. I would visit more often then. read more

Newest restaurant in Jasper to date. Large event space with 3 large rooms, only a fraction of which was being utilized today. The dining area had maybe 10 folding plastic tables with plastic tablecloths. Small menu with around a half a dozen sandwich options a few salads, a couple soups and several dessert options. We found out when we left the health rating was an 84. 5 loaves offers about 3 bread options on extremely mediocre over priced sandwiches. The Cuban we were told by a local we had to try was a ham and cheese sandwich. The only distinction bw the Cuban one coworker ordered and the hot ham and cheese another coworker ordered was mustard. In no way was the Cuban even remotely close to a Cuban sandwich. Another coworker went chicken salad. It was neon yellow and reportedly disgusting. Thankfully the portion on his sandwich was so small he didn't really taste it. The "loaded" chips for an additional charge of $2.00 equated to 7 shreds of unmelted cheese and 3 bacon bits. My Ruben had a single entire slice of corned beef folded over with a few small ancillary pieces positioned in a few areas of the sandwich. Everyone in our group was extremely disappointed with their order. The server was friendly, but not what I would consider attentive nor accurate with her descriptions of the limited menus. Took far considerably longer for the food to come out of the kitchen than it should have based on what was served. Nice people, poor product and even worse execution. This place is wonderful! The chef is out if the world. The pastries are great. The desert list is posted and updated daily. This is a lovely, quiet, lunch bistro so if you're looking for a loud, teenage hangout- this isn't the place. The bistro caters to a mature crowd and very much family oriented. The soft glow lighting and quiet intimate atmosphere give you a peaceful, yet pleasent lunch experience. The staff is wonderful and so accommodating. Currently sitting in Five Loaves Bakery. The atmosphere is so homey and welcoming. The Edison lights and the golden chandelier in the back corner bring a different vibe to this place that I absolutely love. It smells absolutely delicious in here as well. I can smell the bacon and eggs from breakfast that was being served just a little while ago. The waitress is so very kind and has kept checking on us every few min to make sure we have everything we need. I was just reading a 2 Star review a guy left and I think he left a review on the wrong place because the experience so far has been absolutely wonderful. ------ We just received our food and the first thing I put in my mouth is the wonderful chicken and dumplings, perfectly salted and just yummmm. Also the ribeye sandwich on sour dough is AMAZING!! I added mayo because I love mayo on my ribeye sandwiches and it made it even better which I didn't think was possible. Warm place and friendly staff! Best of all, the food lives up to expectations! We had the Ruben sandwich and the blackened shrimp tacos. Both delicious!! We topped it off sharing a piece of the lightest and not too sweet blueberry cheesecake I've had in a long time. I make cheesecake and this was wonderful! We can't wait to try breakfast some day! This place is delicious!! Everything is made fresh daily! I can tell by eating it! Me and my husband both got the ribeye sandwich and my mother in law got the Ruben. They were both really really good! The RES was amazing and the Ruben was really good too and I'm not much of a Ruben person! The only thing that happened, and I'm not knocking a star off for it because my face does this too because I have a hard time controlling it, but when the waitress took our order she never came back over after that and I forgot to ask for avocado to go with it (you can choose it to go on any sandwich for $1.50 or $2 extra) so I didn't get to ask her, and this lady brought our sandwiches out and I asked her for it and she made this face like I'd asked her to bring me something outrageous. But like I said my face does things I don't even know it's doing that my friends and family will be like "Mary, fix you're face" so I wasn't trying to get the avocado for free I just never got a chance to ask our sever for it after she took our order.
