Their cancellation policy makes sense until you see how unflexible they are in extenuating circumstances. I've never had a business be so punitive charging 100% for a canceled service. I tried to reason with them regarding the nature of the booking and need to cancel or reschedule. My daughter has been late 10 minutes for a previous appointment, called ahead about it. Apparently this was all they could forgive and counted it as a cancellation. Another appointment my daughter was rescheduled by the salon last minute due to salon's need to reschedule and my daughter was was understanding. Now we have been charged a cancellation fee for something I tried to reasonably work out with them. Cancellation fee for a first time customer- my second daughter is 100% cost of service. They could not value our business enough to come to an amicable resolution. I will not go back. Which is too bad because we had liked the cuts enough to begin to schedule my other daughters. Typically I leave only positive reviews for businesses or no reviews at all. read more

Trendy-chic ambiance to spare and lots of stylists, of a variety of experience. I love that the place is gratuity-free, so what you book is what you pay for. That said, it doesn't come cheap; my highlights and layer trim were $300. I used a level-2 stylist, so it was $75/hour. After the complimentary consultation where we discussed at length my expectations, we booked a four-hour appointment on her professional estimation. Sounded close to right (previous experiences elsewhere were easily over 3 hours). But the actual appointment was 5 hours long! Yikes. Sylvia did a meticulous job of highlight foils, and my hair is very thick, so the timing, though surprising, was not without reason. By the time she'd finished the semi-blowout, the color was no-hum though. She asked my thoughts and agreed with me that the desired red was not nearly met. She booked a follow up at my earliest availability, free of charge of course, to re-tone. The second attempt was about two hours after styling, and just about perfect. The color is almost exactly like the sample I provided. It is a subtle but noticeable change that looks very natural, but with a coppery pop. The trim was perhaps too minimal, but to her credit, I told her my exclusive curly-cut stylist back East would be seeing me in 6 weeks and is territorial enough to keep me hesitant of betraying her with another haircutter. As such, we had agreed upon a simple layer cleanup. I am extremely happy with the service, with the product, and with the experience in general. Sylvia was delightful and very attentive and interested in ensuring I was happy. Lord knows I've had more experienced stylists impart DISASTROUS results, and not nearly as gracious about remediating. read more

I asked for long layers and instead got an uneven chop job that butchered my long, healthy hair and ruined the structure. It's going to take the next year to grow it back to normal. They did give me a refund when I returned for a "correction," but they couldn't fix it. If you decide to go here, make sure you closely watch what your stylist is doing and that they cross-check their work (mine did not). Maybe you'll avoid ending up with a six-inch chunk taken out and your hair thinned into a stringy mess. read more

I've been here many times and all the other times the hair cut and color was good so it sucks that I'm now giving this place a one star review. I came in for a bang and hair trim with a new stylist, since it was just a trim I didn't think it would be much of an issue. The trim became the stylist adding so much to my bangs that it looks like a bad middle school haircut. It looks like the bangs of Rock Lee from Naruto... the worst part was when the stylist told me that if I didn't want to risk it then I should have booked someone at a higher level. They also said the only thing they can do was 1) add more to the bang using the face frame which was already so thick or 2) just leave as is with complimentary bang trims (no discounts, nothing except the repeated saying of how I should've picked someone else to cut my hair which is wild because I'm already paying 70 something dollars I expect it to not look so bad). Also, I've been here multiple times before and complimentary bang trims were always offered to me by the stylist regardless of a mess up. So I left paying 70 something dollars, looking worse than when I entered and I will have to wait a very long time for my bangs to grow out seeing that I have long hair. I've had bangs for 90 percent of my life and I hate to say it but this was the absolute worst one I've ever had done. read more

Emily is pure magic and I had full trust in her to have rein of my hair and create whatever she wanted for my mystery hair session. She made me feel so comfortable throughout the entire appointment and it's a beautiful space. The new hairstyle and color she created for me made me feel like the best version of myself and was something I never could have imagined unless it was for her. The amount of compliments I have received from her work is incredible. She is an phenomenal hairstylist and I recommend her to anyone. Whoa, Nelly my hair was in desperate need of a cut and with COVID, that has been something I've been putting off for a very long time. My longtime stylist wanted a career change starting off the new year so the end of December 2019 was my last cut. Let that sink in...yikes. So when it was time to find a new stylist, COVID was going down so I decided I wasn't in too much of a hurry. 10 months later, I just couldn't take it anymore. I've gotten in touch with my more natural hair these last several months and can count the number of times I've touched a flat iron on one hand. Definitely plan in advance though and book early as availability seems to fill up pretty quickly. I was able to get an appointment with Saudia for a cut and she did an amazing job. I was probably one of those frustrating clients who had a hard time describing what they wanted ("oh, you know, I would normally do this type of style with straightened hair but I'm not wearing my hair like that these days so need something that works for natural waves and works in a pony tail and is long but not too long...." you get the idea...lol) but she took it in stride and did a great job of translating what I told her her into a really great cut and I finally feel like a bit of a human again and not some unkempt beast that has emerged from a cave. It would be remiss of me not to mention all the extra steps their taking with COVID as well. Obviously COVID was a major reason I was holding off for so long but these folks seriously went above and beyond. They were very transparent with what the expectations were which I really appreciated. When you get there you text them when you arrive and they let you know when your station is ready and disinfected. They are also super diligent throughout the appointment of wiping things down (i.e. hair washing stations after each client). They take your temperature, ask you to wash your hands, contactless payment, etc. Overall, I was very impressed and think I found my new place and am eager to try color next time I go in. Which will not be in another 10 months this time. lol read more

Great experience with Mackenzie! Experienced stylist and lots of quick last minute availability

Unfortunately my experience with Lavish was not good. I will start by saying that I was probably placed with the wrong stylist using their online questioner that recommends a stylist for you. It placed me with stylist Olivia who was super nice but noticeably slower than any stylist I've ever been to. I booked 2 hours with her but ended up being in her chair for 4 hours. Olivia left bleach in my hair for 40 minutes and in the end turned my roots bright orange which she tried to fix but would have taken three more hours. I had to schedule another appointment for her to really fix what she had done. I was devastated to say the least, and at the point just wanted it to look normal. When i went back five days later she covered the red with brown which didn't even come close to what I wanted as I am blonde and was looking for strawberry highlights. I was upset but I am very nice, so when I was leaving I let Olivia schedule me another appointment two months out so she could try to do what I originally wanted. I didn't want to hurt her feelings, so I smiled and left. I cancelled the appointment two days later the same way I scheduled the first one, and that was that. I did not want to make a big deal out of her monumental mistake because again I was trying to be nice. This morning I woke up to a 200 dollar charge from lavish for a missed appointment??? Obviously freaked out by this since I'm on unemployment and need my money, I called Lavish to inquire about the charge. The coordinator explained that I missed my appointment and that was the charge for missing it. I explained very nicely that I cancelled that appointment two days after I made it and also explained why I was so mortified and didn't want to return to Lavish solon. I did not receive help from the coordinator but instead criticism for disliking my hair and letting Olivia schedule me another appointment. I tried to explain to her that that's why I cancelled the appointment immediately and that I was trying to be nice and not hurt Olivia's feelings. The coordinator refused to budge and I am now left with an empty bank account. In retrospect I should have been more honest about my experience, but the lack of understanding and that they didn't list my appointment as cancelled, plus refusing to refund my money they wrongly charged my card for is just bad business! I am including pictures of what I wanted, and what I got, minus the bright orange which I did not get a picture of. I hope Lavish solon takes this review seriously and if you want to cancel an appointment, call them, don't do it online. read more

I found Lavish Hair Lounge through Instagram after I had a less than ideal hair color experience at a different salon. I wanted rose gold, but instead I had inconsistent brassy orange color. I thought all the hair cuts and colors on Lavish Hair Lounge's Instagram were GORGEOUS and very similar to what I wanted. I emailed them to see if they could squeeze my sister and I in to get our hair done. Much to my amazement, Desirre called me the same day to tell me they had 2 last minute openings on the weekend I inquired about. Side note, my sister and I live in Las Cruces, not Albuquerque, so we were really trusting the ladies at this salon. We left Las Cruces around 3:30am to make it to our 8 and 9am appointments. Let me tell you, it was absolutely worth the drive! Desirre did an AMAZING job fixing my color. I got the perfect dusty pink/rose gold color that I wanted! My sister, who had virgin hair, got a beautiful yellow balayage by Reilley (inspired by the upcoming Twenty One Pilots show, of course). The ladies were so kind, knowledgeable, and creative! I loved that Desirre noted her exact formula for the colors she used in my hair. That way, WHEN I return, she can replicate the color precisely! We are so impressed by the whole experience that my sister and I will ABSOLUTELY be returning to Lavish Hair Lounge again. All the stylists are rockstars, and if you have any interest in coloring your hair - there is not a single other place you should look. They don't just do color, they are the COLOR CHAMPIONS. Probably my last time going to this saloon. 30 minutes delay for a haircut after booking an appointment two weeks in advance .if you are a young person having so much time to waste in a saloon, this is your place. The lady who did my hair was super kind and polite and did an awesome job . I could not be happier with my hair and end result. But as a working mother who has only two days to spend with her family, my time is valuable . I can accept 10 minutes wait time but 30 minutes is just unacceptable This is the reply to owner: yes I got a call but 10-15 minutes before my appointment (I watched the clock so I make sure I sate some time so I know exactly when they called and I have a proof from voicemail) . And this was when I was already on my way considering that I had 30 minutes drive. I also was told that the delay will be 10-15 minutes (which is totally acceptable) but I ended up sitting in the waiting area for 30 minutes (exact )watching the hairstylist to take multiple pictures of the previous customer's hair and walking her through shampoo choices she can purchase . Well , maybe if someone is running behind they can skip these unnecessary parts or ask someone to help them with these additional services .or maybe someone could have started me with shampooing After I was waiting for 15 minutes ?? And yes the stylist was fantastic and super nice .and I said that I am very happy with my hair but I also feel obligated to give this review so other people are ware of waiting time etc. I appreciated the haircut portion and the level of professionalism from every aspect but I hope you understand that these reviews are good for prospective customer as well for improvement of your service . read more

After losing my longtime and trusted stylist to California, I took suggestions from friends and other salon pros and made my way to Lavish. Just had my first appointment with Anna, who will now become my longtime and trusted stylist! She specializes in blondes, and I walked out of there was my requested "perfectly imperfect" cut and lovely color/highlights that were just what I needed to feel young and lively again! Anna also mentioned how supportive the Lavish owners are of their staff...as a fellow business owner, I have a great deal of respect for taking care of the staff that takes good care of your customers and your business. They are going to be instituting a new program that will match clients and stylists according to personality and skill. My hair type and style requires a specialist, implementing a matching program will prevent situations like mine in the future. So I can recommend these guys! Worst haircut of my life here. Came away looking like a fried Boris Johnson. I'm too embarrassed to even leave the house until I can find someone to fix it. Cutting women's hair short can be tough - if you don't know how to do it, then refuse to do the cut or let the customer know that you don't have much experience with those cuts. I feel scammed. I absolutely LOVE Lavish! I've had the same hair stylist cut my hair for the past 12 years and the same hair stylist color my hair for the past 3 years. Well, I really wanted to combine the two but the person who colored my hair was extremely expensive and the person who cut my hair was outdated. I found Lavish through Instagram and I'm SO happy I did! Not only is it less than 5 minutes from my house, it's a beautiful space with talented stylists. Everyone working there is so different but still talented, friendly, and welcoming. My hair stylist is Erin and my only regret that I didn't find her sooner. I'm not one to write reviews, but I'm just really disappointed with this place. I live in a rural town about 2 hours from ABQ where it is hard to find good stylist, so decided to make the trip here. I only get my hair done 2-3 times a year, so I was super excited! One of the staff members (I forgot her name!) was incredibly nice and helpful and allowed me to do a virtual consult - where I texted pictures and videos of my hair with other pictures of what I was hoping to have done. She discussed it with a few stylist and paired me with Yvette, who is a really lovely human, but unfortunately really missed the mark with my hair. I had a warm, honey blonde balayage from my prior salon in a different city (before I moved here) and all I really wanted was for that same color to be refreshed closer to my roots and a trim of my long hair. I really like the lived in, natural balayage look because I can go months without getting my hair done. However, she starts the process of what looks like traditional foil highlights - taking very tiny pieces of my hair and foiling them, very close to the roots. By the end, she somehow made my hair overall appear darker than it was before (darkening my prior color) with very thin and cool, pale, beige blonde highlights throughout. Parts of it are so pale that it appears grey, especially in the front of my face. She even pointed this out before I left and assured me it would come out with my first wash, however it has not. It is literally further from what I wanted than when I walked into the salon. The cut was also disappointing - she talked me into some "face framing layers" but it ended up with like 2 dramatic shelves of hair around my entire head - which does not work at all with my hair type and overall makes me have way less volume. The people here were all very nice and I feel bad writing this review. But I'm just so frustrated because I trusted the salon to match me with someone who could achieve what I wanted (and have had done at other salons without trouble for years) and spent a lot of time traveling and a lot of money to then just have my hair re-done somewhere else. Admittedly I did not say anything at the end of the appointment - I was so shocked and had a 2 hour drive home, and honestly didn't trust her to try to fix it. For a salon and staff that seem very modern and skilled, my hair looks like it's from the early 90's (which was not my intention). So disappointing! I'm sure others are good, I would just try to see more of peoples' work next time before booking. read more

I visited this salon for my first time, and had a flawless experience. My stylist, Nayo, took the time to listen to exactly what I wanted and she delivered a perfect cut and color. I was so impressed with her skills and with her positive energy. The salon is located in a modern, large space, and staff all did a great job with keeping masks on and social distancing whenever possible. They also have a nail salon, tattoo area, and thrift store on site, all of which look worth checking out. read more
