Made an appointment with Scarlett. Drove to the salon 20 minutes from me. Waited 15 minutes at the salon. Finally, somebody came and told me that she had some kind of problem with her child didn't even listen. I didn't believe a word of it. wanted to know if I wanted a discount on a haircut next time. There won't be a next time that's 40 minutes of driving 15 minutes of waiting and she couldn't have called before I got there and waited. Very unprofessional won't be back. read more

Would not recommend I started going her in Feb for my full head, blonde highlights. The first two trips were amazing. And after the third time i realized none of the back of my head was being touched and was so brown and I couldn't figure out why. After asking my stylist to help me fix it, if it was additional time or fees I was okay with that. Still didn't get fixed I went in for roots and still had 1 inch roots when I left. I contacted him and asked for him to redo it and now have gray/green hair with no refund or no explanation. I have included what I had previously to coming here in pictures. I followed David from another salon. Without exception, he does an excellent job cutting my hair. It is hard to find a good barber/ stylist for men's hair in Albuquerque, and I recommend him to everyone. He is very knowledgeable about hair maintenance and styling, and we've been through the gamut of hair lengths and management techniques, which is very helpful for me, as I have thicker, wildly uncontrollable hair. I mostly keep my hair short, but I recently went through a phase of "growing it out". Although I would not recommend having long hair in the summer, David really knows how to keep it under control, if you want your hair to look nice while you experiment with longer styles. read more

Laurence Medina rocks the house at Rockit and gets my highest rating. As a former New Yorker and professional actor, my hair has to look fantastic so I am super picky about my stylist. When I moved here, I asked everyone with a great cut who did their hair and after several people said "Laurence", I booked an appointment. I've been with him ever since and have sent him dozens of referrals. The best thing about Laurence's work is that it looks fantastic the day he cuts it, and then as it grows it continues to look great. THAT IS RARE. I always look urban, chic, edgy and cute,even when I'm lazy and don't gel it perfectly. It's just effortlessly hot. You can't ask for better than that. He also did a triple color process on my hair last year that was simply GORGEOUS. Everyone asks me who does my hair. Like, every day! Antonio Carabal is the newest addition to Rockit and I adore him. He's been doing my color for over a year and everyone always comments how well it suits me. The placement of highlights accentuates my eyes and complements the cut perfectly. I followed Rosie here (she previously worked at Inspire Salon) and I am always 100% happy with what she does with my hair. Recently I've taken the plunge to start getting my hair colored, too, and Rosie rocks at that, as well! I've done both highlights and all-over color and was super pleased with what she did every time. Color is pricey (worth it, but pricey); the cost of a haircut only is super reasonable though - especially for someone who nails it every time like Rosie. This place is small but so far I've never been there when it was really busy and packed, which actually makes for a nice, chill experience. I read the great reviews and scheduled an appointment with Scarlet. The place was hard to find and they could not help me over the phone. When I arrived, I realized that they were in no rush, had to wait for awhile. When Scarlet finally was available and got me to my sit, she interrupted the hair cut a few times to answer her cell, fix a big mirror, and chat with colleagues. In contrast to her attitude to everyone else, she expressed no interest in me. It was quite awkward. She barely cut my hair, and at the end of twenty minutes she put a cream in my wavy hair curly. It looked ok, but an hour later, my hair went back to its natural state. $50 or so later, I felt really humiliated and looked the same. I suspect that as a 40 yr. old professional (I came from work and was dressed accordingly) I am not the right demographic for the place and Scarlet assumed I will not be back. She was right, but only because of her attitude and invisible haircut. So, I am still searching for a good hair salon in Albuquerque, and for that special person that knows how to cut wavy hair... any suggestions? read more

Sammy has been cutting my hair for half a year now. I have to go pretty regularly b/c I have a short hairstyle and it needs frequent maintenance. I am so happy I found Rockit Hair and Sammy! She is really well skilled at cutting women's hair. She's also super friendly and approachable. I like that we can discuss what I need and if I had any issues with the last haircut (ie: side burns were a little too long, hair got shaggier faster than I expected), and then she always has great ideas about what to do.
