While waiting for my food, I've seen so many people with children rotating in and out of this location, I respect that Lavish 215 is serving the community and feeding families daily. My girlfriend was telling me about this restaurant but I told her " I'm not going to any restaurant before they open to stand in line" we kept talking and she kept driving ... to the restaurant. The restaurant opens at 12pm , we got in line at 11:55am, it was about 10 people in front of us . I was irritated but as a passenger what was I going to do. The line moved fairly quickly. Came across this place recently. Great experience so far I have only been about 2-3 times. Most recently I grabbed 15 platters to feed the homeless. This place is great with their $5 platters every day. Can't beat that, you'd spend more buying the food cooking and cleaning the dishes. This place you can feed the whole family. This was definitely a perfect find, it has so many great things going for it. This is a great little soul food gem... the food here is amazing and made to order. You have a bit of a wait so you can all ahead but it's worth the 20 min wait if not. They take your order and will take your number and call you when ready... we stopped across the street and got a hand car wash while we waited. We ordered fried fish, it was done to perfection. It came with two sides and a biscuit... I opted for Mac and cheese and yams... the portion size was perfect! Everything on the platter deserves its own recognition because everything was delicious. When I say the size is perfect, you can eat the entire platter not feel over stuffed but perfectly satisfied both with taste and amount... speaking of amount.... the cost for each platter was $5... yes you heard right... a $5 made to order soul food platter that was satisfying and delicious!! The Owner must've sat down the employees and had a talk with some (or fired them...IDK), because' it was a VERY different experience this time. It was a VIBE! Anyways, I called the order in and the conversation was pleasant and they were able to prepare it within an hour with my short notice. Upon arrival I found that the long line which was outside the door was at least an 45 to 1 hour wait just to order. After waiting an hour I finally made it inside this place has to wait another 39 mins just to order. After ordering they tell you to wait outside they will call your name. 1 hour and 15 mins later I got my order. Once I got back to Jorsey and open my platter I found that the 5 chicken wings which JL Jupiter boasted about, it turned out to only be 3 wings and the sides where okay an good but after all that waiting it was not worth the time and travel. The Staff were not wearing masks but requirers all customers to wear masks. OMG read more

I found this place from one of my foodie friend who has been raving about this place. It is true the platters are 5 dollars! I order the chicken wing platter with Mac the yams and the fried fish platter with macs and green. The fish was fried well I think the batter was a bit too thick, mac and cheese was cooked well, greens could have used some turkey juice or some more seasoning it was okay at most. I would go with the chicken platter, granted I was kinda confused single wing dings vs actually chicken wings that is on their IG! The wings were great, yams on point and Mac was well. I would also advise to try to hit up their special I came in for the Smokey turkey platter and it was Sold out, so people are more on the look out for the special than anything. Five stars for this delicious soul food! If my order wasn't messed up so badly it would be five stars altogether, but all things considered whatever I received was absolutely delicious. My coworker made a run to Lavish with everyone's written order in hand. How everyone's order was so mixed up I really don't know. For instance, I clearly wrote down shrimp with greens and sweet potatoes. And received fish with sweet potatoes and macaroni and cheese. But thankfully it was still great! And for $5?! Definitely can't beat it. The fish I got was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Sweet potatoes were the truth and definitely my favorite part of the meal. Even though I didn't order the macaroni and cheese, nor did I particularly want it, it was good and not too dense. Really really slow with food orders and just in general. The food is okay, nothing to get to excited about. Not really worth the wait at all. It is affordable but the portions are small so you get what you pay for if you get my drift. One scoop of this, one scoop of that. Also they are often out of the specials advertised on the menu and they run out of food and sides as well. Cash only, keep that in mind. I heard so many mixed reviews about this place but still was excited to give them a try. I called the number on their Instagram and was a bit taken aback by the rude staff member I had an encouragement with (which should've been a sign) they weren't willing to explain some of the menu options I had questions about; which surprised me because as a business trying to get its feet off the ground you should be willing to go beyond measures for any potential customer but I guess that's what you get when you hire just anybody it seems. I decided to hold off and come give this place a try on another day. Upon my arrival around 6pm I went to open the door and the lights were on, plenty of staff on in the inside but the doors were locked. Now obviously this means they were closed; but I do think it would've been appropriate for someone to come greet me at the door and let me know that as they all starred at me from the inside. I'm a bit disappointed because I definitely wanted to give this place a try as I live in the neighborhood and ride past it all the time but I can't say I feel welcomed to come back here so I'm definitely in no rush to return!
