The quesabirria with consommé was absolutely delicious--rich, juicy, and packed with authentic taste. The asada nachos were loaded and satisfying, and the buffalo wings were cooked perfectly with great flavor. Even the homemade fruit drinks were refreshing and on point! On top of that, the service was friendly and fast, making the whole experience even better. You can tell they take pride in their food and customer experience. It took a while for me to get my al pastor quesadilla and, when I did get it, the meat was dry and most of the meat was in one half of the quesadilla and most of the cheese was in the other half. Also, I wish they didn't give me a disposable plastic bag after I told them I would be eating in, seems gratuitously environmentally wasteful. This place is known for their birria, and I think it is okay, normal. The portion is big overall, but price is not cheap so reasonable I guess. The quesadilla is okay. I think the quesa birra taco would be better but somehow I ordered wrong so will update next time I try. I don't recommend the ramen because the noodle is overcooked; they do give a lot of meat tho. I also tried al pastor and campechano (steak, al pastor, and chorizo (slightly spicy)). They are both okay, but would love to have some pineapple in there. The tacos were juicy, crispy, and because I ate them there, pipping hot. They were filled with plenty of beef and perfectly melted cheese. The Consomé broth wasn't as thick as I had been expecting, but it was good. I'm glad I made the long journey there. Mission accomplished. read more

Been once and looking forward to going again! Staff was sweet and friendly. I tried the veggie tacos and was VERY happy with them! I do wish they had more vegetation options but that's typical with more traditional Mexican spots. Loved the lil salsa packets too. Def recommend. read more

Well, I will say I have high expectations for quesabirria, so maybe that is the problem. I'd wanted to try La Catrachita for a while, just to mix it up, but I always pass it up since I have a favorite place for quesabirria. Tonight, my sister decided to order delivery. We were very, very underwhelmed. First, upon first appearance, the tacos looked dry. This was surprising to me just based on how they are normally prepared (dipped in the consome before grilled) and the birria meat is typically slow-cooked. There were light spots on the tortillas like it had not been bathed in the consome. It was sadly confirmed when I took a bite. The tortilla was...dry. The res - also dry with minimal flavor. I looked to the consome to redeem them, but it was thinner than I am used to without signs of onions or cilantro. This may explain why the tortillas were dry? I don't know...so sad. We were disappointed. Maybe we caught them on a bad day. *I probably won't try them again, though. read more

The two guys in the truck were somewhat helpful with the menu, I ordered spicy pork tacos with a side of rice and beans and a Mexican coke to go on my way to work. Ordered a Birria tray for my birthday. I felt it was a good value for what I paid and it came with all the fixings on the side. They called and let me know when my tray would be ready so the tacos would be freshly made upon pick up. Because the tray was hot and there were 2 bags of sides, the gentleman escorted me to my car so I wouldn't have to make 2 trips. At $14.99 for three (3) tacos, the poor quality doesn't justify the price. Instead of a positive experience, and pleasant surprise of a gem, what I received was closer to coal- some type of meat that was dry, overcooked, and tasteless. I ordered, Al Pastor Paisa Tacos, but that's not what I received. With the receipt stapled onto the tied plastic bag, with two orders of tacos in styrofoam containers, with 3 varieties of taco sauce included, it's hard to believe someone could not see that the order was wrong, especially when the tacos are served open-faced. I like the computer kiosks when you go to order in-person. Best late night food to have that isn't Wawa and accessible by car. Walkable if you walk and know you are going. The shrimp entree I have tasted great with flavor and good temperature with a mix of sauteed veggies. I tried a fries combo and while it was nice to see a Latino style on fries, I didn't feel it went as well as your more traditional marinara or ranch with, mozzarella cheese and bacon. I think maybe they could consider leaving the cheese out with their fries- still would be tasty but then healthier too: I had a jello combo dessert which is aesthetically nice but sub par. I wanted to try this place because I did a delivery from here one time and it was also good for late nights. Was feeling to try this place on a late night after a show. I see the location is different than what is on Yelp as of 12/18/23. Passyunk is more walkable overall but I actually personally like their current location more because it is a bit drivable and relatively walkable if you understand the geography. I have no idea how this place has 4 stars. Went to this restaurant after seeing someone rant about them on tik tok. First things first. The place was dirty. Food crumbs left on tables from previous people who ate in. Two trash cans as soon as you walk in, overflowing! Unacceptable! The service was horrible no attention to detail no attention to the customer. The food was subpar at best we got the Birra tacos. Some of the worst I've ever had. No flavor at all. And they ramen had a funny taste. The chicken tacos and steak tacos were just blah! The overpriced "Natural" juice was the best thing we had and even that was subpar. I went to the truck on 5327 Whitaker Ave. I can't find that on yelp but OMG the Steak & Shrimp tacos supreme were amazing. I added cilantro to it 10/10. Those sauces they gave me just elevated the tacos to another level. So after eating mine I decided to get my man some chicken tacos. That was such a bad move. The chicken tacos were so bland and I asked for the same thing his didn't even look the same as mine. It had Julianne peppers and some other stuff I was confused because it was the same price but looked so different. Same day mind you but anyways the service was good the guy was very patient with us (me and my homegirl) he gave extra lime and sauce upon request.
