I used to come here all the time pre-covid and get their tacos. When I came back this time, it was essentially just as good as I remembered! We ordered the carne asada, chorizo, and al pastor tacos. All of them were so good but my favorite would have to be the chorizo. The tacos came with plenty of cilantro, onions, salsas, and even a jalapeno and grilled onion in each box! Unfortunately, no more cactus but I can't blame them. I don't know why I haven't gotten their tacos in a while but after having them recently, I was craving them for at least a week after that. 10/10 spot read more

Both times I ordered from here it was late night and we got the food to go so I cannot speak on the ambiance of this place. However, this is some of the best carne asada tacos I have ever had. Absolutely delicious. The tortilla is hot and perfect texture, the meat is well seasoned and perfectly pairs with the onion and cilantro. This is a must try for tacos in the city! By far the best food I ate in Philly during my weekend trip. It's a hole in the wall, extremely no-frills, with barely any seating but the exceptional tacos more than make up for it. I'm already back in Boston and I'm still thinking about those tacos. We had originally planned to get a slice at Angelo's, figuring no one else wanted to stand in line on a cold, drizzly afternoon, only to round the corner and see a massive line. (Thanks a bunch, Dave Portnoy) We queued up, then, when someone came out and announced it'd be an hour just to order, we nope-d out of there and decided to get tacos instead. On to the good stuff. The tacos come three to an order plus some sliced cukes, a jalapeño (that I took a nibble of and promptly couldn't taste anything else), and red/green salsas. We split two orders of the al pastor and the campechano, and I could have eaten a lot more. The meat was extremely tender, the tortillas were toasted with super crispy edges, and the fillings were abundant. Also got the pineapple agua fresca, which came in a takeout quart and was a good size to share for 2 or more people. Maybe I was cold. Maybe I was hungry from thinking of and waiting for pizza. Or maybe the tacos were excellent because that first bite of al pastor was transcendent. My only nit is that those delicious tortillas were not made from scratch, I saw them hauling in the bags that you can get at the supermarket, but I'm not complaining when the end product was so good. The main store is small with an enclosed counter, fridge filled with drinks on the side, and an atm in the corner. They only accept cash so the atm becomes quite useful. Ordered the barbacoa tacos, birria burrito, and couple apple flavored sodas at the front counter and gave our name after paying for our meal. We moved into the next room over. It had plenty of seating and tables. No bathroom is available. When the order was ready, one of the staff would walk into the seating room and announce the order's name. We would pick up the order in the original room and return to the seating to eat. The barbacoa tacos mixed with lemon juice and sauces were fantastic. Each bite was succulent and savory. The burritos were the same. Mixing in the sauces and dipping in the burrito halves into the birria made the halves moist, flavorful, and delicious. read more

Came here while visiting Philly and had an excellent time! It definitely looks unassuming, but a lot of the best food out there comes from unassuming restaurants :) There really wasn't anywhere to sit inside (or so we thought!) so we took our food outside. Later, we realized that there was a large room full of tables right next to the restaurant where you can eat. Oh well, the outside tables worked just fine :) We did have to wait a while for our food (~20 minutes?) but we were behind several people and we had a decently large group (5). As mentioned by another reviewer, the place is cash only, but there is an ATM in the restaurant (although who knows what the fees are...). Also, there's no public bathroom, so make sure you go beforehand :) I got the carne asada tacos and they were absolutely delicious. The salsa verde was really tasty (and actually spicy! Thank God!) and the salsa rojo was even spicier (but I don't like smoky salsas so I took a pass). Everyone in our group was really satisfied with their food. This place has one of the best lengua tacos I've had in Philly and they're pretty consistent (I've only had one incident when the food was overly salty). They don't mess around with heat either. I usually love whole, grilled Jalapeños but I can't handle the heat from the ones from here. Be prepared to sweat and possibly cry. I'm not even exaggerating, I literally had tears running down my face. The sauces have a lot of heat too, which I love. I haven't tried anything else other than the lengua tacos so I can't comment on the rest of the menu but the tacos are a 5/5 in my books. read more

They're also open lateeee at night which is hard to find good food past 11pm.. especially food I'd also get during regular lunch/dinner. Best Mexican in Philly. Can't get more hole in the wall than this, hence the "unclaimed" yelp business you see at the top of their profile. It's a Former pizza shop converted and run by a family now run by their friends. While they no longer serve cactus and you can't mix the proteins of your three tacos, the quality is top. My fav taco place in Philly! My friend introduced us to this place couple years ago and it's no longer easy getting tacos at a restaurant. My palate has become picky! When you walk in it's a small store but they have a next door space where you can sit and eat at their tables. My faves are their carne enchilada and al pastor. The carne is spicy and flavorful. I love the spicy peppers and sauces that come with them. The peppers have a good kick. We have tried birria tacos here as it has become popular but we prefer going to the food trucks for birria so we recommend there! Regular tacos are definitely more of their specialty! read more
