Food was excellent and quick service very small place but lovely ambience and great food

Probably the best lengua tacos I've had and definitely among the best tacos overall! The main storefront looks like a tiny place but there's a seating area next door behind an unmarked door; would be great if they could just take down the wall between them but I'm sure that's expensive haha. Cash only but quite affordable at $13 for incredibly juicy tacos with salsa verde and roja, radish slices, and a big grilled jalapeno. The lengua (beef tongue) tacos I had were generously filled, super beefy in flavor, and absolutely succulent. The al pastor tacos my partner got were just as good and juicy. If you want good tacos and don't care for table service or all the frills, Taqueria La Prima has some of the best in the city.

Another late-night craving in Philly brought me to Taqueria La Prima! Clearly, I wasn't the only one with the idea, as it was busy! Our order was taken quickly, and there's a seating area next door where you can wait and enjoy your food. The al pastor tacos are the way to go--fresh, flavorful, and filling! This spot has become a regular go-to for me after a night out.

My favorite place to eat tacos, especially their Cueritos Tacos. I've been here many times, and every time I crave tacos, this is where I go. They're open until 4 AM, making it the perfect spot for late-night cravings

This is a solid open for late night eats in Philly. Open until 4AM daily, it's a good spot for something casual after going out. Service is kind and thoughtful. Cash only. Carne Asada tacos were pretty good. A solid 7.5. Felt like the birria tacos were a bit dry. Pineapple Agua Fresca is good and comes in a large plastic cup. Definitely a go to for late nights in Philly.

The main store is small with an enclosed counter, fridge filled with drinks on the side, and an atm in the corner. They only accept cash so the atm becomes quite useful. Ordered the barbacoa tacos, birria burrito, and couple apple flavored sodas at the front counter and gave our name after paying for our meal. We moved into the next room over. It had plenty of seating and tables. No bathroom is available. When the order was ready, one of the staff would walk into the seating room and announce the order's name. We would pick up the order in the original room and return to the seating to eat. The barbacoa tacos mixed with lemon juice and sauces were fantastic. Each bite was succulent and savory. The burritos were the same. Mixing in the sauces and dipping in the burrito halves into the birria made the halves moist, flavorful, and delicious.

Amazing tasting small business! I believe this is a cash only business. You can order and then take the food next door to sit down and eat. There's also a bathroom in the dining area. I got a chorizo burrito

CASH ONLY JOINT! Def a no frills type of taco joint. I've been wanting to try this place for a minute but I do have to say I am disappointed with the taste. We had al pastor and the flavor of the meat wasn't there and was a tad dry. The two sauces (red and green) really didn't help to enhance any flavor whatsoever. Loved their charred jalapeno tho.

    Vegetarian Burrito
    Chris L.

I got the vegetarian burrito. You order in the smaller part of the restaurant then go over to the bigger area with seating to wait. They come and call your name when order is ready. If you are looking for a hole in the wall place that is also open late, look no further!

    Lilly J.

Huge portions, great meal. You know it's good when they have double corn tortillas. Green and red salsas are both great and pack a slow heat. We liked the pastor and carne asada the most. Only downside is the order took a while - they told us 20 mins (it might have been a bit faster). Deep fried pork was yummy, not super memorable, and the lengua was delicious and super tender. Horchata was also solid, $6 for a giant takeout soup container worth lol

    Tamales
    Retna S.

I called to place my order of tacos al pastor. and it's ready pretty fast. Good flavor, which is enhanced with the lime and salsa verde. However, the meat is a little bit dry with a lot of charred pieces. It comes with a big jalapeño They sell tamales every day. It is smaller than those from other places. Meat is a little bit tough, has spicy kick.

Best chorizo in Philly and that's on momma slop. Paired with a cold Jarritos on the side has this white boy feeling some type of way.

First, we're kind of on an enmolada (chicken mole enchiladas) kick, and have been slowly touring the city ordering it everywhere it's available. We love what we've gotten so far, but most mole sauces have been more on the raisin/chocolate/coffee/lightly sweet side of the spectrum. Taqueria Morales' enmoladas were nutty and complex up front, with a lingering taste of delicious smoke and heat afterward. No joke, it was like the mole equivalent of a nice cognac. Would absolutely come just for this. Myself? I was hankering for al pastor and heard and seen that Taqueria Morales is solid on the al pastor front. Well, I heard and seen rightly, because the meat was well marinated and had an excellent balance of sourness and floral spice in the mix, and came out on what I can only assume are house-made tortillas with a side of radishes and nopales (cactus). Every bite was perfect, and that was before I added on some of the green and red salsas that our chips and guac came with. Finally, the staff was bomb. The lady taking our orders and serving us was super nice and attentive, and the kitchen was FAST. Couldn't have been more than 7 minutes from placing our order and sitting down to getting it out in front of us. It was so good I almost wished we stopped back after the backbreaker of a game to get some comfort tacos. Don't miss this place!

The food here is authentic! Several different kinds of guacamole are available. We chose the one with pomegranate. It added a nice crunch and flavor. One with grasshopper was available. lol that was a no for me! The trio of empanadas were delicious. We shared a carnitas taco platter and branzino platter. The tacos were tasty. The meat in the tacos was so dry that it was hard to chew and swallow. Some of the pieces were cooked to a crisp. No amount of salsa could make them better. I'm sorry I didn't take photos of the tacos, but trust me me I get no pleasure from leaving a bad review for this place; I am not lying or exaggerating. I thought they were going to be one of our local gems. I choked down a half a taco, gave the rest to my husband and he couldn't eat them either. The churros actually had raw batter in the middle and the outside was rubbery and hard at the same time. You could barely bite through it. I'm a cook and I know that that is about keeping the oil at an even temperature to get the inside done and not overcook the outside. Someone in the kitchen did not know what they were doing. The thing is, I have had their food before and it was pretty good. I don't know if there is a new chef or what happened, but I can't trust them after this experience.

They have a great Taco Tuesday deal with $1 tacos, offering carnitas and chicken tacos as part of the special. The carnitas tacos were seasoned perfectly -- 8/10. The only thing that would elevate them even more would be adding pico. The chicken tacos were a 4/10 unfortunately. They lacked flavor and tasted like plain boiled chicken placed on a tortilla, which was disappointing. We also ordered the Tres Salsa and chips. Out of the three salsas, the green and red were the standouts and packed the most flavor. For drinks, we ordered margaritas on the rocks ($5, plus $2 additional for flavor). I tried mango and passion fruit -- the mango tasted more like orange juice, while the passion fruit maintained its flavor much better. If you're looking for a family-friendly indoor/outdoor spot, this is a great option. I noticed a good mix of couples and singles, which made for a nice atmosphere. Bar seating is limited at night, and outdoor seating closes around 7:00 PM. Overall, for Taco Tuesday, I'd give it a 7/10 -- great atmosphere and deals, but food consistency could use some work.
