I can't speak for others who hired Venator to do other types of work which may be totally different…read morethan the work I required. I hired Venator to install a 4" channel drain that was to replace an original 28 year old 1" drain that was no longer adequate to collect heavy rains and move it away from my patio. While Venator's proposal seemed to be promising to provide a much needed improvement, the end results were a big disappointment. A concrete opening had to be cut in order to receive the new Spee-D Channel drain along a 25' section of my concrete patio, but they cut the opening too small. They proceeded to trim the Spee-D Channel on the bottom to make it fit into the undersized opening, which compromised the integrity of the plastic channel and wasted time focusing on the retrofitting process. All they had to do was to cut an additional 2-3" strip from the concrete and the drain would have dropped into place as the instructions suggested. After numerous attempts to inform the owner, who refused to visit the site to inspect the work, he insisted the job was being done by "Industry Standards". His main communication was via Text. I kept him informed of the shoddy workmanship with the hopes he would come by to see for himself. That was not on his agenda, even after expressing my dissatisfaction with the job as it was proceeding. I was not given a dedicated day for the work to be done. It seemed like my job was fitted in after the workers finished on a previous job. The two workers showed up at 6pm on day one and worked until 8:30pm. Not being able to finish, they had to return the next day at 3pm and worked until 8pm. The two worked hard doing their job but it seemed like this was an exploration, not a familiar experience for them. The left photo is what the installation should look like if done correctly and the right photo is what was installed, after having to cut the bottom flange on the channel drain to force it into the opening in the ground. Unfortunately, you never know what results you will get from a vendor until the job is completed. I am sorry I hired Venator for this job and I do not recommend him for this type of work.

The patio was beautiful until the grout bubbled and crumbled a few weeks later. Hunter, the owner of Venator, was responsive abd twice attempted to replace the grout. However, the grout should not have been replaced in freezing temperatures. Again it has crumbled. I have reached out to Hunter over a month ago several times with texts and photos, also filed with the BBB. He has not responded. I have paid nearly $15,000 in full. I saw some good reviews, and decided to try Stam's Landscaping. After a few scheduling issues (not…read moreon my part), I finally met Ellie at my house. She seemed nice and gave me a pretty average quote for what I requested. After another scheduling issue (again, not on my part), the work was done. The result "looked" decent, but didn't "wow" me... No problem. I noticed a lot of the rocks that I had placed (gray slate) changed colors, after a few days. I politely asked if this was normal (I know nothing about landscaping), and Ellie became overly defensive, and borderline rude. I had a 2nd opinion and was told that other rocks were mixed in with the slate... Not what I paid for... Still, being the nice guy I am, I let it go and moved on with my life. After about 2 weeks, I had so many weeds taking over my rock bed. I investigated further and saw that, not only were the weeds and old rose vines not pulled from the root or killed, the landscape fabric wasn't laid under the entire rock bed, as promised! I got 2nd and 3rd opinions, from other landscapers, and was told that I got played for a fool! Yet and STILL, I never mentioned it to Stam's and wanted to give then yet another shot... I scheduled online AND spoke to Ellie and was stood up... I tried to reschedule, was made a promise, and was stood up again. I sent a final text that went ignored. I feel that I am a very understanding, polite, and generous person/customer. I did nothing to deserve the utter disrespect that I received from Stam's. I wonder what's the difference between me and the customers that received good service... Hmmmm... I wonder. I give two stars, and that's me being generous (as usual). I spent nearly $1500 and got treated as my business wasn't appreciated. Trust your gut, people: if you get a "bad sign", don't second guess it! Run the other way!
