I had a terrible experience with one of them, he basically made reconstruction sound like no big deal, no need for physical therapy and showed me tear drop shaped implants. I decided to get a second opinion on this "too good to be true" reconstruction. I landed in Dr Kalnoki's office, SHE IS THE BEST! Not only did she spend 2 hours with me at my consult, she explained why you need therapy and what shape implants (not the tear drops because they'll flip and you'll have awkward boobs), all about risks and benefits and how to choose whats best for you, as an INDIVIDUAL. She's done a fellowship and has immense knowledge. I woke up from my mastectomy with reconstruction happy as a clam! My breasts look almost identical to before they were removed and redone! Dr K monitored me closely and her office staff, Tammy answers all my questions....Holly helps you schedule and Kris knows about insurance. They are wonderful. Being a gym/swim gorilla they kept me on a tight leash and didn't sugar coat anything. More offices need to be like that! I am going in for some fat-grafting procedures to make sure my breasts are even closer to normal. Dr K takes your own fat and injects it where you have divots and dimples. She has a very keen eye. I made the grave mistake of not doing my homework prior and not listening to other medical providers recommendations. Other medical providers in the Seacoast area kept telling me they highly recommend and only refer to Dr. Scannell and they personally had never heard of Dr. Slocum. I, unfortunately, did not listen and chose Dr. Slocum due to him presenting as very confident and selling me on the fact that he could "help me". I am 12-months post op and my outcome is worse than when I came to him. I will need to go another provider to help support me in addressing the damage done, if it can be at this point. If my post can give at least one person cause for pause, I can sleep better at night. Please, please, do your research and choose a surgeon with extensive experience in the procedure you want and can demonstrate a very high number of positive outcomes (with hundreds and hundreds of photos on their website), not just one who sells you on themselves. Ask all of the questions up front and consult locally on who other medical providers recommend. I did not listen and paid the price. Doctor performed surgery fast, so I hardly had any bruises around my eyes. Well, I rather have some bruises than fat tissues left. Bruises will fade off but fat tissues will not! I was under the impression that a surgeon on staff at the hospital would be highly vetted but that is not the case. The result was lopsidedness, ropey scarring, misalignment of breasts and nipples, and when I voiced my concerns, both the staff and her were dismissive and tried to tell me it was because I wasn't taking care of my incisions. Despite buying everything out there and doing massage routines several times a day. Blaming the patient seems to be their main method of dealing with patient concerns based on reading reviews about her on several different sites. But based on logic, there's no amount of rubbing oil on my skin that can make my nipples the same color or realign them or make both of my breasts the same size again. During my follow-up appointments with my cancer surgeon, she honestly gasped the first time she saw the results. She was obviously very upset and told me I should approach the hospital. I have no intention of going under the knife again and it has been 5 years. I wouldn't trust Dr Marble to take a splinter out of my finger. I hope no one else who reads this does either.
