I know I'm in the minority, but I've had good experiences with Xtreme Bullets, Freedom Munitions, LAXAmmo, and LAX Firing Range. I reload a lot of .40 S&W, .45 ACP, .223 Remington, and .30-06, so I'm more familiar with their projectiles than their loaded ammo. Still, I've purchased their factory-new ammunition before and been pleased with the results. During their recent Independence Day sale, I grabbed a few cases of 147gr .300 Blackout. I was impressed by its accuracy--tight groupings at 25 yards that stayed consistent out to 150 yards, just before significant bullet drop begins. I only recently learned about the online vs. in-store price differences. Some research showed that the Orange County store (LAXAmmoOC) is independently owned and sets its own prices. I'm unsure about the Inglewood store's ownership, but the range there, which is corporate-owned, charges higher-than-average prices for ammo, as most ranges do.

Contacted the owner he said he will help replace the BCG that there reloads blew up but gas been leaving me unanswered for a month now

Excellent management! They know how to handle problems here. I want to commend one of the owners, William Berger, for personally handling an issue that easily could've went sideways. More stores need people like this in this day and age. You have a new regular customer.

Great day shooting here . The guys always have a good professional attitude . Will be coming back with the boys

Ask the Community - LAX Ammunition Los Angeles

Do they sell bulk ammo in store?

Yes. At all of our ammo store locations we have the largest and best overall pricing on bulk and single box ammo on Cali

Are your prices on ammo the same in store as online store?

Ammo sales online a mostly less expensive than purchasing at a brick and mortar store. One of my favorites online stores is GunBroker.com where I buy most of my ammo...

Anyone know their current price on 9mm fmj?

$0.54 a round plus tyranny tax of around %10.

Are people able to walk in or is it by appointment only?

    Walk in welcome

Do they have Instructors at the facility for Gun Lessons?

Yes, but call ahead in advance and book. I have also seen private instructors teaching there as well.

Ammo cant be shipt to my house due to los angeles law and wanted to see if ther is some exceptions on online price for people like me that want to buy but cant get it ship?

You can also do what I do and have it ship to a friend or fam member whose address is not in la. I had mine shipped a block over since crossing the street becomes a diff city. Stupid laws!!!

Bad experience from start to finish…read more We came in for a PPT and waited nearly an hour while the staff talked with someone who wasn't making a purchase. They weren't friendly or welcoming and seemed much more attentive to regulars or people they knew. They took the seller's ID right away, but only checked my information much later. They then denied the PPT because my California driver's license was missing a space in my last name, even though my passport card and FSC showed my correct legal name. They explicitly stated that the ATF does not allow this exact situation, but four other FFLs had no issue with the same documents and I could not find any ATF guidance supporting that claim. It felt like an excuse rather than a legitimate requirement. Had I been buying directly from them instead of bringing in a $10 PPT, I doubt this would have been handled the same way. I won't be returning.

I was able to take my test here, no appointment needed. Buying a handgun here was very smooth and professional, they offer a very nice variety of handguns and riffles; nice variety of accessories aswell! Everything is reasonably priced. I cannot recommend this place enough. Parking is fairly easy to find.

In either case poor quality parts and workmanship can result in injury or worse. Phil built my rifle from parts I ordered and it operates flawlessly. He made recommendations for parts to get for the build and I ordered them without question. Over the years he has added mods and has made adjustments that continue to improve functionality, appearance, and accuracy. His skill as a gunsmith is such that I would not trust my stuff to anyone else. The quality of his builds and craftsmanship are worth every cent and the turnaround is reasonable. He is also an invaluable wealth of knowledge when it comes to anything regarding firearms and firearms repair. He is my go-to guy whenever I have a question or need a recommendation. Additionally, he will Cerakote anything you need that can be Cerakoted. I needed custom paint on some Hella Sharptone horns to add to my Triumph Bonneville and LAC did excellent work. I felt that regular paint would be too delicate, so Phil and Co did a beautiful job with the color and application to get the horns to integrate with the colors on the moto. My girl feels a lot better knowing I trashed the puny stock horn in favor of these 90 dB dual blasts on the LA streets, and I feel a lot better knowing they integrate well with the color scheme and don't make my bike look like an amateur rat build. They are definitely a busy shop, but the reasons are clear: these guys live for their work and their customers know it, which is why I will keep coming back!

However, my most recent visit has been frustrating. I dropped off a handgun at the end of November for three services and was quoted 6-8 weeks max. I had planned to attend a training in late February, so based on that timeline I expected to have my handgun back by the end of January. We are now approaching 15 weeks, and my firearm is still not ready. Can't even reschedule my class as the staff has been unable to give me a date each time I've called. I didn't want to leave a negative review because my previous experiences here have been great, but this delay is honestly unreasonable. If I would have known the turn around time I would have skipped on services. A friend of mine dropped off his handgun at a different shop for the same services and had it back within a month. I am paying full price for 2 of the 3 services so I might as well have just taken it to the other shop.. I would still consider purchasing items from this store, but unfortunately I will most likely not be returning here for gunsmithing services.

I try to support small local businesses whenever I can, especially ones in my own neighborhood. In early January I stopped into Addax Tactical while I was out riding my e-bike with my dog. The staff were friendly, they were cool about my dog being there, and they even let me bring my bike inside. My first impression was positive. A little later I went back to order a rifle. I wanted a Henry Big Boy .357 Lever Action Rifle. They didn't have it in stock, and I was told it would take about two to three weeks to arrive because the SHOT Show convention was coming up. While doing the paperwork, I also decided to purchase a Ruger 10/22 so I could complete both purchases with a single background check. I left a deposit of about $1,200 toward roughly $2,000 total for the two rifles. Both rifles are very standard models that most gun stores typically have available or can obtain quickly. I could have easily purchased them elsewhere, but I made a deliberate choice to support a smaller shop in my neighborhood and was willing to wait the extra couple of weeks. Based on the timeline I was given, I expected the rifles to arrive by late January and to have them in my possession by mid-February after the required 10-day waiting period. That didn't happen. After three weeks I called to check on the order. Nothing had arrived yet. I waited another week and called again. Still nothing. The responses were always very casual, with little explanation other than that the rifles had been ordered. Around six weeks into the process, I was told the Ruger had arrived but they hadn't called because they assumed I wanted to pick up both rifles at the same time. I went in immediately and started the paperwork to take possession of the Ruger. During that visit I learned something that had never been mentioned before: the Henry rifle had not actually shipped yet, and the shop generally places firearm orders in batches rather than ordering individual rifles. This was the first time I had heard that, even though the original estimate had been two to three weeks. At that point I agreed to upgrade to the octagonal-barrel version of the Henry since I had always wanted that model anyway, and I was told the change would not affect the delivery timeline. After the 10-day waiting period I picked up the Ruger and again asked about the Henry. The answer was still that it had not arrived yet. By this point we were about eight weeks into the process, with no clear timeline. About a week later I called again and received the same answer. At that point I decided to cancel the Henry order and request a refund. I was told the refund would come from accounting and that I should expect a check in two to three weeks. After two weeks I called again and was told it could take up to 30 days. I eventually went to the shop in person to check on the refund. This time I was told I could not bring my bike or dog inside, even though I had been there several times before with both and it had never been an issue. Eventually I received a call saying the refund check had arrived. For the sake of transparency, I'm writing this from memory without the receipts directly in front of me, so the dollar amounts may be off by a few dollars either way, but the numbers below are very close to what was paid and refunded. When I picked up the check, the amount returned was about $370 out of the roughly $1,200 deposit I had paid. That means that after roughly 12 weeks, the final outcome of this transaction is that I effectively ended up with a $830 Ruger 10/22 -- a rifle that typically sells for a few hundred dollars at most gun shops. Even assuming some type of restocking fee, it's difficult to understand how that result makes sense, particularly for a rifle that, according to the shop, had not even shipped yet when I cancelled the order. I went into this purchase specifically because I wanted to support a small neighborhood business like Addax Tactical and was willing to wait longer than usual to do so. Unfortunately, after the delays, the lack of clear communication about how orders were handled, and the final refund outcome, the entire experience ended up being extremely frustrating. If you're considering ordering a firearm here, my advice would simply be to make sure you clearly understand the ordering process, timeline expectations, and refund policies before leaving a deposit. Posting this simply to document my experience so other customers know what to expect when placing a special order here.
