Visiting Columbus and was craving Indian Food so we stopped at Layla's. We loved the warm welcome and quick service. The place is beautiful inside with lots of florals and the comforting smell of delicious food. We ordered the chicken samosa (2 pieces) and they were delicious. The chutneys that comes with the samosa is the perfect addition to this appetizer. Hubby ordered the mango lassi and it was so refreshing! We got the chicken makhani (butter chicken), chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, and buttered naan. Both entrees came with a nice portion of basmati rice. Everything was super flavorful! You're also able to choose your own spice level for your dish. The owner was such a doll. She was very sweet and made sure we loved our food. She wrapped up my food to go for me and gave us a free dessert to try (Gulab Jamun). The hospitality was amazing and we will be coming back when we visit Ohio again! read more

I ordered Layla's kitchen thru door dash and I have had Layla's kitchen in the past and it was wonderful but I don't know who was making all the food tonight but everything I ordered ended up being one spice level and it was like just eating Tabasco with nothing else I felt I was doing the one chip challenge ( the hottest chip ever ) I am hurting now and only eating tums but man that was absolutely a let down (I had to throw the whole thing away and now I will be sipping on milk and eating bread to relax my stomach )sorry just very disappointed and was excited to have one of my favorites tonight read more

This place used to be good but the last couple of times the seasoning has been way off. My husband usually orders medium heat but his dish was waaay too spicy. I usually order mild heat or level one. My last biriyani was so hot I couldn't eat it. Stirring my fork in the rice, I came across a whole chili pepper. Who knows how many were in there? We got takeout tonight. Samosas to start. Sorry no pic we were sooo hungry we devoured them. The 2 sauces that came with them were mint and a fruity sauce. Our entrees were chicken tikka masala and palak paneer. Both were well seasoned and delicious and came with rice. The portions were ample, enough for a second meal tomorrow! Fellow Yelper Kym H. and I decided to adventure to a new-to-us Indian restaurant in Columbus and Yelp guided us here for Layla's Friday lunch buffet. In a very outdated strip mall, you'll find Layla's alongside a variety of different businesses. From the outside, you might be wondering what could be in there and is it anything special?! However, don't let this questionable exterior fool you. What's inside is definitely worth exploring. We got a table right away in their spacious dining room. The lunch buffet was set up in the back corner and while it looked small, they had a lot of options laid out for us to choose from. We grabbed our plates and dove right in. I obviously stuck with the vegetarian options, which luckily for me, were plentiful. Now, onto the specifics! The rice was perfectly cooked, soft and fluffy. The naan was also made perfectly and was a great consistency for shoveling all the other goodness. This was my first time trying spinach pakora and it was quite delicious. I would have went back to get more if there weren't so many options for me to try! The palak paneer also surprised me. While I've always enjoyed it, I never pick it as an entree, and theirs left me wanting seconds. As for the rest of it, I can't remember the names of everything I tried, but I can tell you I ate almost every bite. While I'm not sure how often I'll get back here because it's a little out of the way for me, I did grab a to-go menu. Glad to know they deliver! Layla's used to be our favorite Indian spot when we lived in cbus. However a few years back their food completely changed and our go-to items came out very bland. Recently we decided to give it another chance because of how much we used to like it. I must say they have redeemed themselves. The food was absolutely delicious. Everything was cooked well and the spice level was appropriate for what we had asked for. The service was great, as always. The one thing I would like to see improved is the cleanliness. The bathrooms were not clean, and the restaurant floors felt sticky. I little extra care on this point would make a huge difference on the dining experience. All that said I'm happy with the decision of giving this restaurant a second chance. I'll be visiting it more often when I'm around the Columbus area for now on. read more

Layla's has a new location. It's behind Sirens. This location is much bigger which means the menu is now bigger too. It also has a great buffet. There's many choices even if you are picky. Getting the buffet is probably the best value you can get. It's about $12 for the weekend buffet. There's a large amount of food. It has the typical appetizers like the pakoras, which go good with the coconut or mint chutney. They also have a samosa chaat table. It's where you can get flattened samosas and top it with lots of stuff. There's also a regular menu if you go at dinner time. This is a nice location. It's better than the old one. I went to Layla's kitchen for a private party. The have a room in the back where you can set up the cake and decorate. However, it is quite small, so you cannot sit your guests there. The food was delicious. I loved the naan, has to be my favorite, very soft and not burnt like some other places. The tandoori chicken was tender and moist. The goat curry was tasty, seasoned nicely and did not find a smell to the goat meat, which some places have if not prepared properly. A nice place to hold smaller parties due to the food. All the items are halal/zabeeha, so a great place for those who have restrictions. Definitely will go back to try other items as I attended a party and options were pre-chosen. Ok we were starving and didn't want to cook anything so I decided takeout. I love Indian food and haven't had any since the ban. I ordered a ton of food just to get the vibe of this place. Curry chicken, shrimp tikka masala, palic paneer and chicken sambusa all with rice and naan and roti. All was very good. I like mine a little more spicy but I was happy with the takeout. Again I never had Indian take out because I like to sit and enjoy the meal with friends. Happy people make good food. I was happy with every choice. Great curry spice nice soft rice. The curry flavor was deep in the chicken. The spinach was perfect. The only knock would be the naan was dry and they forgot my desserts but I'm willing to give them a second chance. Came across this spot on DoorDash because it was one of the few restaurants delivering on Christmas! Extensive menu with several options. They have a dedicated vegetarian and nonvegetarian Indo Chinese menu which I appreciated (and was craving!). Delivery took about 45 minutes or so with door Dash which is totally acceptable on Christmas night! Food was tasty but could've done with a little more spice. Normally the Manchurian dishes that I've ordered in the past from elsewhere typically have a gravy. The paneer Manchurian was pretty dry (but still tasty). Star of the meal was the vegetable chow mein super delicious!! They were out of the baby corn which I really wanted to order so had a chili cauliflower dish instead. read more

Haven't had Indian food in soooo long and Layla's Kitchen has been on my radar since I moved to the north side. I called my order in over the phone. They offer online ordering but the online ordering menu didn't seem to match the menu on their site. My order was pretty much ready to go once I arrived. I wanted to go with something a little different order wise (I typically get saag paneer). I ordered my fave Chicken 65 and went with two things I've never had: Kadai Paneer & Samosa Chaat. All three were delicious! The chicken 65 definitely hit the spot and the samosa chaat was different from probably anything I've ever tasted but I loved it. Passable Indian, however I was expecting more based on the reviews. Stopped in for lunch and went with the buffet. I tried the chicken sag (had bones left in it), the chicken tikka (not very hot), the aloo gobi (also not hot) and the pakora. The naan was actually pretty good, nicely charred and with plenty of ghee. They also had achar out which is always nice on the side. Stopped by here for a quick dinner before checking in the hotel near Columbus Airport. I tried to order Lamb Chop but the owner suggested Tandoori Fish. I took his advice and added an order of Garlic Naan. The fish was tiny and the flavor from Tandoori cooking did not really get in. The naan was just okay, without much garlic flavor. I was kind of disappointed. The fish was more expensive than the lamb, and the taste did not really match the price tag. read more

The location is the only thing not superb. The regular naan is the best we have ever had. The waitress made sure to understand what spicy level we wanted. The goat soup was my appetizer, it was so good. My wife had the samosas, also good. She had the chicken biyrani, there was so much! Everything here looks really good! Now read on... Columbus has upped its game in indian and Pakistani cuisine from a long time now. I would say at the least 2-3 years now. With that being said , with layla's i had high hopes especially with the biryani and kebabs since there were so many positive reviews. It appears that layla's indian is from the era in the United States wherein there were barely any indian restaurants and you coming to something like this would be so impressed because you got to try something new apart from usual burgers/Sandwiches and Steaks. Its that subpar for me considering i have been in that era as well as this. So not only the quantity is good enough for you to make this a go to neither its taste that great. In both areas it failed for me. Below are my short and sweet ratings Chicken Hyderabadi Biryani - 2/5 also because there was barely any chicken in it! Chicken Seekh Kabab - 3/5 One more thing, food looks really good from top, but eventually that excitement will fade out. This is a very good Indian restaurant. We had the weekend lunch buffet, which costs $3.00 more than weekdays and has more dishes on it. The lunch buffet is $12.99/person 11a-3pm Friday-Sunday, and $9.99 11a-3pm Monday - Thursday. It's a great value for the quality and variety. Everything was very flavorful and high quality. What a great meal! My wife had the Tandoori Shrimp and I had the Chicken Jalfrezi. My chicken dish was noted as "med to hot curry", so I ordered it hot. Our waiter confirmed "10"? And I said yes, sounds good. Well, it was as advertised! I was sweating by the end but it was delicious! My wife's tandoori was excellent as well. The atmosphere was surprisingly good given their location at the end of a strip mall. We were one of 2 or 3 groups on a Thursday night. While my experience getting a refund with DoorDash was easy, the food was gross. The rice tasted old and dry. The tikka masala was highlighter pink. I've never had tikka masala be anything other than orange ish red. The goat bhuna was literally all bones I had no meat in it. A buddy of mine wanted to grab dinner near Easton, so I suggested Layla's since it was on my list of restaurants to try. As I pulled into the restaurant and saw a Drive-Thru Lane, I second-guessed my restaurant choice. I also saw my friend's skeptical face as I walked in, seemingly wondering where the heck I had brought him. I wasn't expecting a hole-in-the-wall restaurant, but that's exactly what Layla's is. Apparently the building housing the restaurant was a former fast food hot dog restaurant (ACME Hotdog and Sausage). So the interior is definitely no frills, with seating room for about 15 people only. Despite Layla's modest physical appearance, the food and service at this restaurant shone brightly. Granted we were the only ones dining, but the service was more attentive and polite than I expected. The waiter took time to explain particular dishes and the different spice levels. After reading Gus W.'s review, I ended up ordering the Goat Bhuna as my main and a veggie samosa as an appetizer. I was not disappointed, as both items were delicious. My buddy had the chicken samosa, which he thought was just average. On the other hand, my vegetarian samosa was great. It was also gigantic and almost 2-3x the size of my friend's samosa. He definitely suffered from samosa envy. It was perfectly fried and full of flavorful goodness. Great value for $1.99. The Goat Bhuna is a bone-in onion tomato gravy that is rich with flavor and spice. If you don't mind bone-in goat, this dish is amazing. The goat was super tender and melt-in-you-mouth soft. It's slightly oily, but oh so worth it. I found myself sopping up every last bit with my garlic naan (which was also great). The dish was served with a generous portion of basmati rice. Overall, this was definitely one of the best, if not the best Indian meals i've had in Columbus. I would come back once a week, if I lived closer. The value is also hard to beat. Most entrees are under $10 with decent portion sizes. As long as you don't mind the modest physical appearance, Layla's Kitchen is an excellent option for an Indian meal. Wow, impressive they have so many vegetarian choices on their menu! I met Gwen W here for lunch and I really enjoyed my food. It's only a (per my GPS) 13 minute drive from my workplace, so I very much want to return. The staff is friendly and I noticed how good it smelled as soon as I walked in the door. I started with the Veggie Sambusa ($1.50), which I loved. My entree was the Aloo Palak dish ($6.99), which arrived in two dishes. Once was the rice, and the other was mostly spinach, with potato chunks, spiced with ginger. I also ordered Tandoori Naan (4 pieces), for an extra $1.99. I snapped a picture and then combined my entree on my plate. It's very filling for the price, and I had leftovers to take home. I did see a salmon dish on the menu that I may try next time. I've had Layla's bookmarked since it opened, but it's just not handy for me. Too bad for me- I should have been coming here all along. It's in the small building Acme Dogs used to be in. Ample parking, and even a drive-through. Inside, there are plenty of tables and it looks like the patio will be open when it stays warm. Decor is simple and classy, everything is very clean and comfy. Service was excellent start to finish. I had a mango lassi because they are almost always awesome, and this one lived up to expectations. I wanted one of each thing on the menu, but I had to pick, so I started with a veggie samosa. In high school my friend's mom would make samosa when we studied together, and this one was almost as good as hers: flaky pastry, sturdy enough to hold together with all the fillings. Peas, carrots, potatoes, etc., with savory seasonings. I could have had a few more and made a meal. I love goat, so I ended up with the goat curry, but there are many veggie and chicken options. Out came a dish of perfect basmati rice, along with a dish of the curry. Bone-in, with super tender meat, and in a thick sauce that I poured over the rice, and sopped up with the garlic naan I added (which was puffy and slightly garlicky.) I love Indian food, and Layla's is the closest place to me. When I started going there I definitely noticed the Indian spices are not as potent as other restaurants. It seems like they Americanized it and toned down the intensity. But I just ordered Chicken Korma a few weeks ago about 45 minutes before closing and the dish tasted like NOTHING. I had ordered the dish maybe 6 times before that and this time it tasted like it was cut with water or milk. Honestly they lost me as a customer after that and I will drive further to get Indian food that has flavor and that doesn't cut their food with water or dairy. read more
