Last night (12/9/25) at about 7pm, the hot water supply line that feeds into my hot water heater ruptured. It was spraying water everywhere and was drenching the drywall that surrounds the water heater. I texted Josh from Layout Plumbing and he responded within minutes. I sent him pictures of what was going on and he offered me three options. One, to come out that night and replace the supply lines. Two, to come out the next day during regular business hours to perform the work at normal business hour rates. Or three, to explain to me how to fix it myself, which I really appreciated. Knowing that I was not going to be able to fix the problem quickly on my own and would need to run to Home Depot to buy supplies, I opted for Josh to come last night. He was at my door in literally 20 minutes. Josh was professional, courteous, knowledgeable and personable. As he performed the work, he explained to me everything he was doing and gave me ideas on how to avoid issues like this in the future. I also expressed concerns that my water regulator might be going bad because I noticed water pressure issues in the house. Josh took the time to check the pressure, and sure enough, confirmed the regulator needs to be replaced. Had an out of no where leak where water had to be shut off to the entire house until it was fixed since I didn't know the source. Layout Plumbing was oddly recommended by the insurance company (I say oddly because they normally recommended companies that cut corners and hence are less expensive). Turns out it was the best recommendation!! I called a couple different, long time privately owned local business plumbers to get quotes. One was ok and priced high. Another was terrible and immediately said my entire line needs to be replaced and even called it "terminal". I called Layout and spoke with Josh. He answered all of my questions over the phone! I didn't even get questions answered with these other companies that came in the house! And to think they wanted $160 for 10 minutes of digging around the leak to tell me it's gonna be THOUSANDS of dollars and a huge repair. Over the phone Josh even helped me understand what to ask others when I called to get an estimate. He came out right away and really prioritized me. He thoroughly looked inside the house where water was initially detected despite having a visible leak outside. Others just looked outside not caring about the initial found water in the house. Josh was so honest, friendly and forward with everything. He luckily had the parts I needed and the so called "terminal" line that others wanted to charged thousands upon thousands of dollars for and weren't even able to fix for a week (leaving my family without water in the house for over a week). So he immediately quoted me a very reasonable price and fixed the problem right away!! As a home owner that doesn't like to be lied to or spend unnecessary money, I will ALWAYS use Layout going forward! A few days later he came out on time and cleared the drain line that was full of roots and located a buried drain that he then exposed to be functional again.
