Stopped in around noon after trout fishing and was pleasantly surprised on our lunch meal. Had the french dip and it was very good. My fishing buddy had the burger and said it was cooked perfectly and said he would order again on our next trip. Had the pleasure to meet a regular at the bar...RABBIT. Are second visit. This time I made reservations. Glad I did because it got very crowded! I had THE WORKS pizza and the wife and her mom had white and sausage personal pizzas. If it wasn't for Yelp and maybe the more modern sign outside I would never think to try this place. In other words, it looks like nothing from the outside. Coming in the place is cozy, the menu is large, and the beer is cold. Well, it's not only cold, but I have never had beer served in glasses that were so frosty before. Nice job! The CREAM OF BROCCOLI CHEDDAR SOUP that was on special I could have all day long and the FIREHOUSE BURGER - 8oz Pork Bacon Burger with Provolone Cheese, Spicy Minced Pickles, Shredded Lettuce, Topped with Jalapeno Crema on a Brioche Bun, Served with Shoestring Fries was great too. We stopped for lunch. On a ride planned by a New Jersey born and raised buddy and his wife - we rode some stunningly scenic roads. Sure my list of their errors in planning could fill a small to medium size library but the lunch stop at the Layton Hotel & Tavern was NOT on that alleged list. The menu is large enough and varied enough to require a "Clift Notes" version. So many excellent choices and our group of 13 sampled a wide variety and all I can say is it seemed to erase our "very damp"... some might even say soaking wet morning and our tour of a low hanging cloud. Cold drinks, great service, and cool rustic establishment all tucked into the middle some of the best Mother Nature has to offer. It is easy to dwell on the fun that can fill your life like a great meal with great friends while rolling on two in beautiful surroundings that even rain can't dampen. We have come to The Layton hotel for years. The last three times we visited there, it was an hour wait to get a pizza. The entrées are very expensive just like every other restaurant however they were not worth the price. Today we went in and ordered the chicken wings, which are normally delicious and they were terrible. Then because the pizza oven was backed up and we would have to wait one hour. We ordered the nachos, the nachos were terrible. I could get better nachos at Taco Bell. Unfortunately, I would have to say things have changed here and I do not recommend it. read more

This was our first visit back to Layton Hotel, since the virus hit back in March. They are now doing outdoor seating in addition to curbside pick-up. Although we were picking up an order to go, I have to say that Layton has the social distancing done right with the outside dining. There are picnic tables spaced out back and it just seemed so peaceful out there tonight. We plan on coming back and eating al fresco once the summer heat dies down. As for our order, another amazing white pizza with broccoli and tomatoes and an order of baked ziti for my fiancé. I placed an order for pick up and was surprised at the total. When I called to inquire I was told they added $2+ to the bill because we used a Mastercard to pay. It would have been cheaper if we paid cash. I think it's despicable they are so cheap that they pass on their merchant fees to the consumer!!!! Stumbled into this place by mistake! What a lovely mistake. Really deceiving from outside-once inside it's a really nice bar / restaurant with a great selection of drinks and absolutely killer food. NOPE, I couldn't stop eating my linguine in white wine clam sauce. Holy smokes, literally the best one I've ever had and I've had MANY. There was an extensive specials menu in addition to the regular menu. Service was terrific. One of our party spilled a glass of wine. We found this gem after visiting the local Sunflower fields on a Sunday evening. The place was packed. The menu has something for everyone..small bites, soups, salads, burgers, seafood and desserts.
