    Inside looking out!

This place is awesome. Incredibly nice staff! Fantastic food. We saw the German food on the menu and we were sold. We were not disappointed. I got the Goulash and my wife got the Jaegar Schnitzel and both were excellent! The ambiance by the lake just added greatness to this visit. Reasonably priced. I highly recommend this place!!

I received a gift card and during Covid, I called to get takeout. The girl on the phone advised I could only use it for dine in. So we were finally able to go this week. We went on a Friday for an early dinner. Four stars for several reasons: the server was nice, the food was great. I am conflicted on the rating because of several reasons: very few people working there so drinks didn't get refilled and food took longer than we are used to. However, the real issue was bugs. Yup, bugs. While it sounds terrible, it actually wasn't. The restaurant is located on the edge of a lake and outside dining is available. A couple moved their table from outside to inside and the woman told me it was because of the gnats. Those same little gnats were on the inside of the windows at every window inside the place too. They didn't come onto the table or near the food but they were there. It didn't seem to bother anyone but me. So tables didn't get cleaned off and service is what it is with so little staff. There was a flyer on the door looking for help so hopefully that gets better. The food was great, huge portions, perfect temp, etc. Before dinner came, a bread basket (after the app was brought) came with 3 little dishes, one of whipped butter, one of seasoned oil for dipping, and one of cheese spread. Nice touch.

Went with family and my 1 year old daughter. Very accommodating. Super friendly service! Food was delivered quickly and hot. The fried fish was AMAZING and fresh! We will definitely come back for more

We were a group of 6 and we decided on this spot for a nice formal dinner to end our trip. The location is quite beautiful. We got a reservation to sit outside but unfortunately since the weather was a bit chilly we decided to stay indoors and they were very accommodating. I do believe they are short of staffing. There was one waitress running around doing a lot while there were a few young kids probably high school age just doing bus boy things but they never interacted with the guests. Due to this situation, it took a while for our order to be placed and for the food to arrive. However I do have to say, the wait was with it. The food tasted really good and their menu was well curated. A few of the guys wanted to get the steak but sadly they were out of steak which I thought was a bit odd. Overall, a decent place. The lady who was waiting our table was stretched thin with work but she was still very courteous and professional and did her best which I highly appreciated. I feel like this place has a lot of potential just needs a bit more support.

We jumped over to the bar right beside and drank some girly drinks before getting the notification our table was ready. As with nearly every establishment in NYC, it is very close quarters in paradise lost. We stood at a table while waiting for seats at the bar to become available. Which, we didn't mind. I could see how this might be a little harder to get a seat for a bigger group if you aren't there before 6. It seemed that once a group got a big table, they camped out. The drinks were strong and creative. Friendly bartenders, good music, and yummy options for bar snacks. Also, the bathroom is a nice touch. Given the hell theming for the bar, the bathroom is a 180 and while using the Lou, you can listen to the bible being recited. Theres also a spooky surprise if you press the button in the bathroom. Speaking of the bathroom, it is at the bottom of some decently narrow stairs. So, try and stay sober enough for stairs or you may fall. Go to this bar. You will have fun.

We wanted to have after-dinner cocktails in a chill space, so we searched on our phones & saw Paradise Lost address via Google. We proceeded to walk down & was unable to find the establishment due to their being no front sign. After walking back & forth a few times, we saw another group walking towards the door & they confirmed the place. We walked inside the front door pressed a "doorbell" & lo & behold we gained entry after the previous group went inside. Definitely an incognito entrance. Once inside that door there is someone to greet you, & take your information. There is a forest/ grass/ jungle-looking foyer/ hallway we walked down to get to the next door. Before we knew it, we were near the "Paradise Lost No Vacancy" neon sign w/ an arrow pointing towards the snake-shaped knob door. It gets opened & a supercool speakeasy awaits.... Paradise Lost has mixed style table / seating arrangements throughout the place. A bar seating section, booth-style seating area, lounge- style seating area, etc. We got there a little after 7pm, so the afterwork crowd was in full swing. Paradise Lost has interesting atmosphere. At times a Gothic / Medieval Vibe, meets place w/ shipwreck decor, meets eleganct /club vibe w/ beautiful ceiling lighting, etc. Music played in the background. Staff are friendly, energetic, & attentive. We were pleasantly overwhelmed w/ the vast selection of tiki cocktails that were on the menu. Paradise Lost also have an intimate selection of snacks/ food menu items. This included Popcorn, Tater Tots, Devilled Eggs Rangoon Dip, etc. We ordered some cocktails served in unique tiki mugs & a bucket of popcorn to munch on w/ our drinks. The popcorn is flavored w/ Sea Buckthorn & Browm Butter, which gave it an special flavor profile. Our cocktails were well-prepared & nice & strong. Paradise Lost has individual unisex bathroom stalls & a communal vanity & sink area. The bathroom stalls have spooky voices coming from a speaker as you use the bathroom. I was so humorously taken aback, it had me laughing when I came out...Definitely a different thing to experience in the bathroom - lol. Before we left we watched one of the bartenders do a cocktail "fire" presentation for some patrons in a booth seated area. Wow.... Paradise Lost accepts walk-ins only, no reservations. Paradise Lost accepts groups of 8 or less, unless you are requesting to book the space for a private event. Ages 21+ paradiselost.nyc @paradiselostnyc Paradise Lost is open everyday - 5pm-2am.

They tried the crap with my brother in law and I shot them down real quick to let them know they weren't playing there drunk intimidation rap with us. So we sat and ordered 2 wines... one was the jalapeño wine which tasted like cheap white wine with Tabasco sauce in it ( it was total crap) The other wine was also cheap garbage and the both cost about $7 a piece... After us walked in a group of woman who also got heckled by the obnoxious table of men and the owner did nothing about it... I've seen better set ups at the side of the road in 3rd world countries.... Let's put it this way ... they didn't even have an ice machine and they had a Playmate cooler with ice in it at a makeshift bar if you can call it that. I asked them about the food on their menu.. Particularly the Scallops that they were advertising and they told me they stopped serving them because people didn't like them because they were just cooking them in Hot Water.... ( yep, no grill or kitchen) but they were adverb food on their website... What a ghetto shit hole this was... I get itchy just thinking about it!! They will be out of business by the end of the month!'n

I stopped by on Saturday afternoon with one of my top-tier chums for a post-Port Jervis exploration/walk nip, deciding that out of all of the places we'd walked and/or driven by, this looked the most intriguing and certainly the most historic. One brief moment of validation occurred before we even entered - after walking through the downtown area and encountering pretty much a ghost town, we found a ton of locals in the outdoor patio/seating area here having a rollicking good time. Pretty decent endorsement, but it was quickly downhill from there. As soon as you walk in, you can tell that the majority of ye olde charm has been replaced; for instance, there's some wood paneling over the bar area that's relatively new - I was expecting something that looked pretty historic inside but in my opinion that wasn't the case. I'm not sure how much of a negative that necessarily is, but if you're walking into an establishment like this expecting to be transported to the 1890s, you're going to be disappointed. There's definitely some history, but it's not going to conjure up handlebar mustaches and victrolas. I ordered the Port Old-Fashioned off the cocktail menu; I was a little leery because it cited mulled oranges, but beyond that the description was dictionary definition. The drink itself was not. As you can see from the accompanying picture, the cocktail was practically red; I can't say for sure because I didn't witness the preparation, but it certainly looked and tasted as if it had Fireball in it rather than straight-up Bourbon. Really strange, and made it morph into a kegger drink for me. And the mulled oranges were definitely a mistake; I knew what I was getting into in that regard, so that part of the experience is certainly on me, but there's a reason this drink is supposed to have an orange peel essentially as a garnish and not a full-on part of the beverage. Really odd and I hate to say it, but probably the worst Old-Fashioned I've ever had. We had a young female bartender who was very nice/hospitable, which is the only reason this isn't a dumpster fire one-star review. She was the only one behind the bar, which was decently packed, and held her own. Our visit was relatively brief - we stopped for just the one drink before heading home across the border - but had no issues service-wise. We were able to order promptly, and received our beverages shortly thereafter. Unfortunately as mentioned, the actual drink was pretty bad, and I'd strongly recommend additional training in that capacity. Some of the intangibles are there, so I think this could be rectified. The Port Jervis residents clearly like this place a lot, so I have to assume they're staying away from the cocktail I had and enjoying either other drinks or the food (which neither of us sampled). And the price point is reasonable as well - I think my drink was $12 - but you ARE getting what you pay for. My recommendation? Head over to Jersey and drive the 29 minutes to the Walpack Inn, which is literally never on the way to anything except in this instance, and has much better menu options and legit rustic ambience.

The staff and patrons looked at each other joking and laughing but NOBODY was instructing the patrons as to what to do. We waited a few minutes but finally left as the BLAT,BLAT,BLAT of the alarm was excruciating to the slight headache I had entered the dining area with. Fire trucks showed up but it was established to be a false alarm. Something they should have let the patrons know right away. I felt we should have been partially compt. for the meal since we only finished half of it before we left. I don't think I will go back as I felt the whole situation was handled poorly. They need better safety protocols for such situations. Laughing and joking while patrons are confused as to what to do is a serious violation of ethics to say the least. Get it together erie hotel!
