This was the last time I'll be ordering from here. My last two experiences have been disappointing, but today was by far the worst. The chicken was huge, had an odd smell, was completely unseasoned, and honestly wasn't edible. They also substituted one of my sides without notifying me, and when I called, all I received was an apology with no effort to make it right. To make matters worse, I consistently have to wait for my food even after placing my order online for pickup. It's really unfortunate because this place was excellent when it first opened. In the mood for something a little different from our usual kabob place, my wife and I took a chance on the relatively new Laziz in Sterling for a recent dinner. I opted for a lamb and chicken chapli platter with a side of sabzi (spinach) and my wife ordered a chili chicken and tandoori chicken platter with a side of eggplant. Each platter was around $21 and included bread, rice, a small salad, and the meats. We found the food overall hit or miss. My wife's chicken items actually tasted quite good. Though we couldn't detect any heat on the chili chicken, the meat was juicy and grilled well. The bone in tandoori chicken had a very tender texture and a tasty, slightly spicy marinade. The side of eggplant stole the show with its tangy, creamy flavor profile that tasted rich and comforting. We found the lamb kabob and the sabzi here good and essentially on par with other area competitors. In contrast, the chicken chapli kabob was bone dry; I almost choked on it. The rice here is pretty bland, unlike other area kabob places they serve slightly sweet white rice rather than the seasoned, tender brown rice I usually get elsewhere. The naans were disappointing, as rather than the fluffy bread I saw in pictures posted online I got something thin and akin to a tortilla in flavor. Also, the sauces here are quite weak, both the white and green sauces taste the same and are simply creamy without adding any flavor. The portion sizes were super inconsistent, as my wife's platter brought about 3/4 of a chicken's worth of meat, but all I got was a hockey puck sized chapli and a few pieces of lamb. Overall, we would come back for the tandoori chicken and eggplant, but we'll be on the hunt for other options for everything else. read more

We went up to the cashier and they said they would take our order at the table. Our order was taken by an electronic system which was easy peasy. I ordered the chicken kabob ($14.99) with green tea pot ($5.99), while my husband ordered the beef kabob ($17.99) with a can of coke ($1.99). We were asked which side we would like and we both chose hummus. We were brought our drinks right away. He even poured my first cup of tea for me. It was loose green tea in an infuser. Next, our food came. We didn't have to wait too long. The portion size was huge!! We thoroughly enjoyed our food and couldn't even finish everything. The rice was soft and had raisins and spices in it, while the chicken was perfectly moist. My husband said that his beef was a good cut and liked it. The hummus and fresh, hot bread was a nice touch. We were brought over dispensers of a green herby sauce and a white garlic sauce that made the proteins even more yummy! Only two things I would suggest is having ice water to have (I think there might have been a dispenser but it was empty?) and some dressing on the lettuce. Not sure if it's meant to be plain though. The food was good, but not amazing compared to other spots in the area. They seem like a mixture of Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and Indian food. It's a newer spot. The service was alright. It's a casual vibe, nothing fancy. The platter was decent. We split the platter between the two of us. The chicken was flavorful it was cooked tendori style. The beef was flavorful as well. We personally did not enjoy the falafel here. I wish they also had it come with a dipping sauce. They didn't tell us it came with pita so we paid extra for pita. We didn't even end up liking the pita bread. It was hard and thin. Overall, I would probably choose some of the other spots before this one. However, if someone said they wanted to go I wouldn't be opposed to giving it another shot. read more

TLDR: Very good food at a fairly reasonable price. The service was friendly and the owner was helpful. My wife and I really wanted Mediterranean/middle eastern style food and decided to try somewhere new. We started with the falafel and while it was crunchy, it was what we've come to expect from restaurant falafel. It won't blow you away but it's not going to leave you upset. We ordered the platter and it was better than expected. The chicken was like chicken tandoori and it was juicy. The lamb was tender but left a little to be desired for flavor. The beef kubideh was the highlight. It was spicy and flavorful and we both loved it! The hummus is also good but pretty standard for us. The platter was supposed to come with bread and they forgot it and I ended up ordering some for $2 and the owner said he'd give us something else for the $2 but never did. But it's not the biggest deal in the world. The service was friendly. But it seems like maybe the staff aren't familiar with the entire menu as they initially forgot the bread that comes with the platter. I've heard great things about their Kabili Pulao and Aash, but I got to try the chicken wrap and fries (thanks to a family member's treat ). The grilled chicken breast kabob was tender and juicy, layered with sauces and a fresh fusion-style salad that made for a perfectly balanced wrap. Everything tasted clean, well-seasoned, and full of flavor -- without being greasy. For about $17 plus tax, I got the wrap, fries, and both the white and green sauces totally worth it! I'm already planning to come back for the gyro wrap and more. What I really love is that their food doesn't feel heavy or oily like many traditional dishes can. A very good counter-service kebab shop. The interior is very clean and modern. The lamb wrap was very good. It came with even more tandoori naan on the side and a side of fries. It was a lot of food. I tried laziz kabob awhile ago when they were more new and I remembered the food being pretty good. I recently came back to try again, and the food is good, very average. The kofta was my preferred option, over the chicken. However, I'd say the only thing that made me rate it to a 3 was because they garnish their apps and entrees with red onion and sometimes I just don't like that lingering onion taste/smell. The kabobs were so good I tried the platter which was more than enough for 2 to share - you could have 4 meals from this! The chicken was tandoori style and cooked so well, the lamb kebabs were great and not gristly and the beef was good as well. The hummus was soooo fresh and homemade and same with the samosas! The manager/owner and the cashier are very nice folk. The restaurant is kept clean and the small space has a cozy feeling to it. I ate here twice. The first time I had the afghan burger. It uses a Chapli kabob as its patty which I'm not a fan. I wasn't aware that afghan burgers were made from chapli kabobs so I didn't want to rate this place just based off one experience. My sibling had the chicken chicken kabob platter. The food came out barely warm. My second time I got the chicken and beef kabob. The chicken was chewy and the beef had a mushy texture to it. I was not impressed. The chick peas also had an overwhelming flavor. I don't like the white or the green sauces here either. The mango lasi was good. Laziz is a new addition to the area and certainly a welcome one. Food is excellent value with large portions and taste. We ordered the Laziz Platter which was plenty for two hungry folk, coming with rice (spiced, with raisin and carrots) salad, about 2 full breads, a side (we chose eggplant) and a kofta skewer, beef chunk skewer, and two chicken thighs and two chicken drumsticks. Everything was very tasty and well seasoned, our favorites were the chicken and kofta. Place is nice with lots of seating and lighting, it's obviously very new/renovated. Counter order with utensils, water, napkins etc on the side. The owner is very present and extremely accommodating and friendly. My wife picked up a chicken kabob for me after her shopping trip and damn.... I was surprised. The chicken was tender, well seasoned, the rice was seasoned and different, but delicious. Went here with a friend on Thursday evening as we wanted to try something different from our regular haunts. A pretty good sized menu with lots of choices to pick from. She picked the daily special,Beef Dopaiza, and I went with the Beef & Lamb Kebab platter w/chickpea curry as well as a shared plate of fresh Baba Ghanoush/Naan bread. Every thing was EXCELLENT....large serving sizes, tender & flavorful meat (rare at most local kebab joints which seem to specialize in tough & hard overcooked meat), very tasty basmati rice & a generous salad with each. Been here a couple times (from grand opening and onwards). On some occasions the hospitality has been excellent, with clean environs, and well executed dishes. In one of my earlier visits, I was particularly impressed by their biryani - which is served only on weekends. However, in my most recent visit, the biryani was flavorful but quite oily. The chicken was juicy and flavorful and the salad was packed with a nice variety of vegetables, which was a nice surprise; I was expecting some basic mixed greens with maybe cucumber and tomato but you can see in the photo it was much more than that. This place is not it. Ordered family kabob plater, took the kitchen only 10 minutes to make all those kabobs. If you are an Afghan you know making kabobs' takes much longer than that. Today's is Saturday, first time going for carry out from this restaurant . Good location and owner is very friendly. Got chicken and kofta kabob with chick peas and saag on the side. Kofta was made with Chapli kabob material. All the stuff including flour were grounded into a paste. Taste was OK but you don't get the feel of kubeida or ground beef kabob. Chicken had no taste and was very soft, wither was not cooked properly or used tenderizing chemical.side dishes were completely without any taste. Salad was good. Rice also good. They either forgot or they did not have any sauce or chutney or raita, which was surprisingly. Now if owner Faisal will read this review, either he can get upset or take it positively to fix the problems. I think you do not have any culinary experience.
