It's about the only game in town for ol' Franklin and they know ball. Good vibes inside and the bartenders are nice. Their beers are also solid and peg well above their weight class. The Trail Mate was cool, but I really enjoyed the cream ale. It was light, and had a small hint of cream soda. Ending a day of hiking and river swimming at the Lazy Hiker was fantastic. I would 100% come back. About that Lazy Hiker food truck... sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe not good. I'd give that a 3/5. They have no mayo on hand but make burgers... No mayo for the bun before it goes on the grill? That's kinda suspect. The burger was alright. It tasted more like a backyard burger with curly fries on the side. I couldn't really hang out here as there was a wedding reception, or something of the like, scheduled. I got a flight plus some extras to try. I would say the beers were regular, nothing excelling but everything well made. I would say that this town is really cool, with lots of things for young folk to do. I'm not sure if this is a college town, but there was a lot of activity anyhow. read more

After a day of hiking, a stop at Lazy Hiker was much deserved! The place is awesome and the bartender was friendly, as well as knowledgeable on the brews. It was perfect level of noise...people chatting, kids laughing and dogs wagging. There are food trucks on the side and food can be brought in. Took my wife up to the GEM show so I went to the BEER show. Neat little spot tucked away on the west end of town. Not a huge place but big enough to sit and enjoy an adult beverage and pass some time. Friendly servers and prices are where you expect a craft brew place to be. read more

I'm not a beer drinker so I can't speak for the quality of the beer menu, but as someone who frequently visits breweries with friends and family (but doesn't drink) I definitely appreciated the food options available on site! We visited while Strange Trip Pizza was open and got the Fraggle Rock - delicious! The sourdough crust alone deserves 5 stars. We also ordered curly fries from the Hiker's Kitchen which the menu said was "award winning" and they were right! The brewery was also spacious with plenty of seating and the Appalachian Trail theme was cool. I wish they had some non-alcoholic beverage options besides the Coke products (like local sodas l maybe?) but it IS a brewery after all and they did have a range of beers, wine, hard seltzers, etc. read more

First time eating at this location. Food was pretty good, except for Hotdog. Hotdog over cooked and skin chewy! But what's crazy is when you order a large onion rings appetizer it doesn't come with ranch. You actually have to pay .83 per tiny container! I rated 2 stars because it seems to be a place that nickel and dimes ya and not customer service! It should at least come with one ranch. They were friendly. read more

I love Lazy Hiker Brewing Company! My first visit was about 4 years ago and I've been wanting to go back ever since. This time I ordered a flight. I loved the flight glasses so much that I purchased 4 so I could make my own flights at home. Their beer selection is awesome! Definitely something for everyone. A few of my favs include: Trail Mate Golden Ale - very drinkable! Light and refreshing. Wesser Evil Porter - dark and luscious! So smooth and flavorful. Must order if you like porters. Winter Nutterland - twist on a classic brown ale. Very drinkable. They also have great sours and IPAs. Check out Lazy Hiker while in/near Franklin, you won't regret it! read more

Beer was good, but the bartender with multiple face piercings was very rude. Called me "young lady" when I'm clearly the same age as her, in a condescending tone. Not inviting. Honestly do not think I'll spend my time here anymore because of my experience. She ruined it. read more

What a great spot in downtown Franklin NC. Very good craft beers! Enjoyed an Imperial Dark & a great Brown Ale. Especially loved that this spot is dog friendly as we'll travel with our Australian Labradoodle often. A very nice touch when you see a bowl of dog treats at the bar checkout. The guys behind the bar were friendly & very helpful with offering tastes of different beers & helping dial in our pick. A small but very nice fenced off patio with a fire place out front on a cool, brisk day - New Years Eve afternoon for our visit. They have a food truck in the parking lot with burgers, dogs, nachos & a good mix in their offering which we didn't try on this visit. Glad to finally find this spot as it's right off the bypass we travel often. Definitely will make this a regular stop on treks between NC & GA. read more

Cool brewery with an awesome food truck outside. Looks like they are setup for a good time during the summer months as well. Beer selection was okay, I've posted the current menu in a photo. Atmosphere was nice and while I was there they had open mic night. Only downside was waiting in line for a beer, if someone in front of you wanted a t-shirt or something you ended up waiting for 10 minutes just to grab another beer. Was excited to try out a local brewery after a nice hike in Franklin, NC. They had a lot of beers to choose from which was awesome. You could drink there, or take cans/growlers to-go. They had a great outside area with lots of tables, a fire pit, and string lights. They also have a food truck on-site that you can order food from and they will deliver to where you are seated. The patio was huge so you could easily spread out. We picked one of the sanitized tables and ordered two flights of beer. Two flights meant we got to try 8 different beers. I am pretty limited in what beers I like, but still enjoyed sampling what they had to offer. You could also order glasses of wine and other non-alcoholic options. My family stopped by while we were waiting for our cabin to be ready to stay the weekend. I couldn't drink as I am pregnant but my mom and husband both enjoyed a couple of beers. They said they were delicious. The flights were anywhere from $9-$11, which was a great price. There was a kids area that our 4 year old could occupy herself. The bar tender was very friendly and did a great job recommending beers. There are food trucks outside as well as seating. We really enjoyed our time there. read more

I love Lazy Hiker! Every time I'm up in Franklin, this is a must-visit. The service is always great, the bartenders are friendly, and there is a huge march selection. It's even better now that there's a permanent food truck installation, and the food is killer. The patio is set friendly and you can bring your pup inside when you order. There is a huge beer selection! The nitro cherry sour was spectacular, and the spruce ale tasted like you were drinking a Christmas tree (which is a good thing). Truly something for everyone! My favorite part? The kid play area. I've never seen a little corner setup like this at a brewery, with a kids table and games. There were high chairs and a changing table, which makes this one of the most family friendly breweries I've ever been to. Can't wait to make it back up to the cabin to enjoy more Lazy Hiker brews! We picked up a six-pack of IPA and a tank for Nicole. This is place is named appropriately for the Appalachian Trail that beckons hikers in, or the lazy-kind that drive through. We met a man having a beer at the counter with his well trained boxer, Baxter, who could bark at different pitches by how widely he signaled with his thumb and index finger. We were impressed with the Cherry Stout which we sampled. We didn't stay long but recommend it to everyone. read more

Not too far from the AT where you can spot in and get a beer or in our case a 6 pack to go. They have a lot of good standard beers and some really unique ones like the tart cherry beer. I tasted it but it wasn't my favorite. I did, however, really enjoy their IPA. There is a food truck there during certain times. I didn't try any food from the tied eye truck, next time I will. There is a pretty chill out door and indoor seating area, perfect for the lazy hiker to enjoy a cold one! read more

Stumbled upon lazy hiker on our visit in Franklin. It's a really nice brewery with indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor area has some tables and even a fire place to stay warm. We decided to sit inside because it was really cold outside. Inside there have several tables and couches they even have some board games that you can play. They had some music playing and made it a nice environment to hangout with family and friends. As far as the beer, they had a wide selection to choose from. I had the Amblin Amber Ale and it was delicious with hints of strawberry and spice. Will probably return during our visit! read more
