Visited Lazy Lane as my first stop for Houston Restaurant Weeks (HRW). We got there as soon as it opened and there were a few people there already. Their brunch starts at 10:30 but several of us were there a bit before. They have a small parking lot but it looks like there may be street parking as well. Inside the restaurant has lots of natural light and it's bright and welcoming. There is also outdoor seating. Saturday morning was pretty busy but the staff was accommodating and very friendly.I did the HRW menu and ordered the brussel sprouts and beef hash. It wasn't bad, but also not outstanding. If I return, I'll try the pancakes! I do like how their menu includes a welcome cocktail though I opted for a mocktail. read more

We visited during Houston Restaurant Weeks and unfortunately didn't have the experience we were hoping for. Our waitress was kind and apologetic, but it seemed the staff hadn't been trained on the Restaurant Weeks ordering system, which caused some confusion. It took about 15-20 minutes before we were greeted, and our meal ended up lasting nearly two and a half hours. The restaurant was also hosting several large parties and a bridal event, which likely contributed to the slow service. The food itself was fine but ultimately felt average and not worth the long wait. I think the staff were doing the best they could, and I hope management is able to work through these growing pains with appropriate training, scheduling more staff during busy events, and limiting the number of simultaneous bookings. I think Lazy Lane has potential, and I hope to see it succeed. read more

We started with the meatballs and a round of dollar oysters. The oysters were exactly what happy hour oysters should be--cold, briny, and easy to enjoy with a drink in hand. The meatballs were satisfying and well executed, delivering the kind of familiar comfort food that rewards simplicity done properly. A vodka tonic accompanied my meal, while my companion opted for the happy hour margarita, which fit the mood of the evening perfectly. Neither drink was particularly ambitious, but both were well made and served without fuss. What elevated the experience beyond merely good was the service. The staff were attentive, accommodating, and genuinely eager to make the evening enjoyable. They even went out of their way to bring items that normally weren't available to order, a small gesture that made the meal feel personal rather than transactional. Hospitality like that lingers in memory longer than any garnish or elaborate plating ever could. Pricing felt fair for the setting and overall experience--not inexpensive, but reasonable enough that you leave feeling you received your money's worth. We dined during Houston Restaurant Weeks, so it's worth noting that our portions may have been smaller than the regular menu portions and were offered at a reduced price. Overall: The ambiance was beautiful and the Brussels were a standout, but the slow service, repeated issues with the entrée, and disappointing desserts made the overall dining experience inconsistent. I appreciated the staff's effort to make things right and would be open to returning to see if the experience is better next time. Food: I started with the Crispy Brussels, which were my favorite dish--well-seasoned, flavorful, and paired nicely with the seasonal vinaigrette and pumpkin seeds. The Spanish Meatballs were good alongside the Brussels, but they were fairly underwhelming on their own. For my entrée, I ordered the Egg Benedict with hollandaise, smoked prosciutto, bacon, poached eggs, and a toasted English muffin. Unfortunately, the Benedict was overcooked both times it was prepared, and my first order also came without the prosciutto. The English muffin was a little harder than I prefer, although that may be standard for the dish. Dessert was disappointing. I tried both the Strawberry Crème Brûlée and Bread Pudding, and unfortunately, both were hard, dry, and lacking in flavor. Service: Service was slower than expected, and there were some issues with my order. That said, the staff did make an effort to correct the problems, which I appreciated. As part of the HRR, I received complimentary Summer margarita and Lazy's Lemonade (vodka). They were cute and a nice touch. Ambiance: The ambiance was easily one of my favorite parts of the experience. Maybe our combination of items were a miss, but nothing stood out to me other than how surprisingly nice it was on the interior vs how the exterior was. They have a really good social media team, looks great. everything is nice and aesthetic inside. The building itself is a former warehouse type of building in a residential area. I feel like it works for the neighborhood- something close, walkable, for "nicer" night out especially for the clientele in the area. There's an inflatable red bounce house in They were out of the lychee martinis during my visit, big bummer. We shared the pull apart bread - first bite I couldn't help but taste how salty it was. Quite toasted. I'm thinking soft, warm gooey pull apart bread. Crab tortellini - Taste wise: more of an onion tortellini than a crab tortellini. Personally it was visually unappealing TBH. I always enjoy roe for the texture. Birria pasta - initial note is spicy then you start recognizing the birria flavors. I was initially interested in that baked potato pizza but after ordering the bread appetizer, decided against it. We had a reservation, and were seated in the bar area at a fairly small bar high top (actually middle height top) table that had the chairs on the same side, facing the bar. I came here on a Saturday evening for dinner with my sister and a girlfriend. They have a pretty decent size parking lot and I am glad because it started pouring once I got there. The service was amazing, they were a bit busy so the manager came over to help out. He gave us good recommendations on the drinks and food items to order. I had the Gin & Tonic, which was delicious but oh my it was pretty strong so be ware if you have a low tolerance. I also tried the Mojito which was delicious and of course they had a Carajillo on the menu so I had to get that. The main thing which makes the Carajillo is the espresso and theirs was perfect. They said they brew it fresh daily! We shared the Cast Iron Brie as a starter and I really didn't know how to feel about this. It was good, but not the best I've had. The fruit that came with it wasn't really that sweet, so maybe it needed more of a sweeter balance. I ordered the Cast Iron Filet as my main and that was cooked to perfection, I like my steaks Medium. I did try my sisters beet risotto that came with her trout and it was soo yummy!! Stopped by with a group for brunch. The interior design is absolutely stunning! They also have a nice patio too. I got the brunch burger and subbed the sesame bun for a ciabatta bun. Went here for happy hour with a friend a few weeks ago. The staff and manager were very friendly and helpful. I had one of the house red wines. It was quite good. It was a Pinot Noir I think. Went at 5:30pm on a Tuesday for HRW. Food was decent but not incredible, entree portions were a little smaller than you'd expect for HRW but still a good amount of food. Ambiance was nice but the music was a little too loud for an early dinner and it was hard to hear and hold conversation. Service was incredibly slow and our waiter was inattentive at best. Took more than 2 hours for a 3 course meal for two during the early evening when there were only 3 other small parties there for the first hour of the meal. Had to ask multiple times for the check, wait staff seemed more interested in socializing with each other. Cool place but for the price I was left disappointed and won't be going back. read more

I don't want to be too harsh on the place, it's relatively new and they did their very best to fix any issues. I would say the rating I gave was the high price for low service. Food quality that did not match the price. When we first arrived, we were pleasantly greated and sat at a table in the bar area. It took about 20 mins to get drinks. Then 2 other waiters/waitresses asked if we had been served yet. It took about another 20 mins to get cocktails by which we already had our appetizers. The lamb chops were burnt and the scallops dish came out cold but scallops were warm. When the waiter came around to ask if everything was alright, I brought it up to his attention and he sent it back to be replated. A manager had come out to offer us free round of drinks. I think they are trying very hard but I don't know that I would come back until I see consisently good reviews. Compeition is fierce in the neighborhood none the less all of Houston for fine dining. For the price, they need to up scale their quality and service to match. read more

Came here on a Saturday night with my wife at 6:30pm. Parking lot is huge but horribly laid out so not alot of spots. Got seated and it took us 10+ minutes to get drinks ordered. Drinks came back back so kudos to the bartender. Took us another 30 minutes to get an order in. Not sure what was going on as it's not a huge dining room and I counted at least 5 waiters. Ordered the steak tartar since it's one of my all time favorites. I'll tell you something. I've ester probably 10 different variety's of steak tartar in Houston and this by far is the worst I've ever tasted. Imagine a potato salad (although they're really unique here since they're purple but seriously like a 4th of July potato salad but with but stringy and not good quality raw steak on top. Seriously this chef should be ashamed. I'm usually well balanced when I review restaurants but this is should not be served. Hard stop. For our mains I got the "smoked" pasta. Not sure what was smoked about it as I tasted no smoke. It was just bucatini in a Parmesan sauce with bacon....my wife got the snapper with "crispy" fingerling potatoes. I've attached picture. You be the judge on what constitutes "crispy". Overall this place needs a lot of work. Ambiance and the building are well done and clean but between the horrible service and food this place is not long if it doesn't turn it around. read more

Lazy Lane is a wonderful new addition to the neighborhood and definitely worth a visit. The space is beautifully decorated, very clean, and welcoming. The servers were friendly and attentive, which made the experience lovely. The menu is simple and easy to read without feeling limited or overwhelmed. We started with the meatballs as an appetizer and enjoyed two entrées, all of which were well prepared, full of flavor and satisfying. We're already looking forward to coming back to try the potatoes pizza, s'mores and strawberry Pop-Tart dessert. I wanted to try this place as a potential spot to bring clients. The food was good, but the service didn't meet expectations. A friend and I arrived just before the brunch rush without a reservation and were told there were no indoor tables available, the only options were outdoor seating or the bar. We chose to sit outside despite the place being nearly empty (There were at most four tables being served), and at first we assumed the indoor seating was fully reserved based on what the waitstaff told us. However, when I checked for reservations online, I saw that indoor availability was wide open. When we asked about it, the response made it seem like the responsibility was on us for not having a reservation. But it doesn't really make sense. If there are open tables and guests are already there, why prioritize the possibility of future reservations over actual customers in front of you? Again, availability was wide open. It made for a confusing and frustrating experience. We are not sure if this was a miscommunication between staff or an issue with understaffing, as there only seemed to be two servers working. Service was slow, and our water was never refilled. Needless to say, it left a poor impression, and we won't be returning. read more

I've been here three times, so this review is based on all of my visits, not just one meal. The atmosphere is great--bright, welcoming, and nicely decorated. The service has been fine, although all three times I found myself looking around for my server at some point. I really want this restaurant to succeed because it's close by, and we need more good local options. Unfortunately, the food has been the issue for me. The first two visits were just okay. Not terrible, but not good enough to justify the price. Because it's convenient, I figured it was still worth stopping in every now and then. My last visit changed my mind. The meatball appetizer was dry and overcooked, and the scallops were incredibly salty. The texture of both the scallops and the risotto was actually really good, but the salt completely overwhelmed the dish. After waiting about 45 minutes for my entrée--while my kids had already been served, finished eating, and gone outside to play--I just wanted to eat what I could and leave. I'm sad to write this because I was really hoping this would become a regular spot for us. For now, though, I won't be coming back. I hope they can figure out the food because the restaurant itself has a lot of potential. read more

Lamb sausage/butternut squash pizza - interesting but not cooked well and really floppy and wet. Carrot salad - again, interesting but nothing super flavorful. For mains - filet was cooked nicely and was good. Birria pasta dish was fine. And snapper was good but sides didnt pair well. Everything was fine but left me hoping for more flavor. Micro greens added tartness that made things off for me. Service: a bit uneven and not fully knowledgeable of the menu, flavors, nor able to provide guidance. Prices are a bit higher for what you get. But biggest kicker for me is the 3% credit card surcharge. I didn't see anything about this charge on the menu nor was notified as I used my credit card on the device. The charge device was presented with only the total so you never see itemization. I always get the receipt via text after the fact and noticed once I got home. It's just annoying-while they can do this they should do a better job in understanding total costs of running a business and set menu prices accordingly. I enjoyed this place and the atmosphere. I had the snapper and a glass of red, I believe it was their house pinot. The wine was okay, but the snapper was on point. This will be added into mine and my husband's rotation for date night. Parking is a little tricky but luckily it wasn't too busy when we arrived. Service was nice and friendly. Main issues was the AC was broken in the middle of July in Houston and no one informed us before sitting down to eat! The inside thermostat was reading 84. Asked for a fan to be moved closer to our table and was told no because other patrons need the air flow and there was legit 2 other people there compared to our table (and only one fan blowing in a very large room). We went there about 2:30pm for our office Christmas. We had made a reservation. The place was empty. We were never told of time limit or change of menu and prices. Around 5pm menu changes and prices hike. It would have been great to be told in advance. At certain time we were told by the manager to move to another table because they had another reservation and, manager's words, it had to be that table. At the time we didn't want to cause a fuzz and we accepted. BTW, The place was still empty and plenty of tables and space (The other party got there about half and hour late and were kissing and hugging the manager). On the other hand, server Angie was great. The worst service I've ever had. I sat in the back of the restaurant and realized they didn't have air conditioning running. You can tell this place has no Manager oversight, all the employees sit up and talk and move every slow like there's no customers here. This place definitely needs supervision or a qualified leader. We really enjoyed our first visit to Lazy Lane. I rolled the dice with the blue cheese martini, and I'm so glad I did. Amazing. We had the Kansas City strip and chicken salad. Both delicious! Love the decor, and service was great! My only suggestion is to make sure the wait staff has tried all of the cocktails and the menu items because our waiter couldn't describe the taste of menu items.
