Food is good- I bit pricey but good serving portions. Service was horrible today. The girl at the restaurant was giving us step by step directions on where we could and couldn't sit, where we needed to return our menu, and said not to use the knife we we didn't need it! As if she would just pass it on to someone else. Then after paying $40 for my sandwich and side, I asked for extra thousand island dressing for my Reuben sandwich and she wanted to charge me for it! Man this was an awesome little hidden gem find!! I was feeling something different and stumbled upon this little shop. A sandwich sounded good and I liked that I saw online the place was locally owned and star wars / sci-fi themed! Upon arrival I walked up on nice quaint corner shop with patio tables and trees out front. I went inside and saw all the cool decor and happy faces. I ended up ordering their weekly special because i love tomato soup and it didn't disappoint. The ambiance on the patio was great as they had nice music playing and lots of trees with natural sunlight peaking through in a gated private area. I had also ordered a Custom Rye sandwich with Hand shredded turkey, fresh sliced ham, mayo and pesto spread, lettuce and fresh onions, with oil and red wine vinegar, herbs and salt and pepper. Let me first start that I would have given it 5 stars if the total bill wasn't $46 for two sandwiches, chips, 1 cookie and a small cup of soup. We are still trying to figure out how it got to that point. Very pricy place, but hey I guess you are paying for the vibes and the neighborhood. Other than that the sandwiches were absolutely delicious, VERY fresh ingredients REAL protein!! This isn't your Hillshire Farms sliced deli meat folks! I decided to stop at this restaurant to support local business and avoid fast food restaurants. Going in, the ambiance was relaxed. I ordered at the front and ordered their special, "The Hippie," and ordered a side of potato soup with bacon. The service was great The seating was limited, but there was outside searing. Because it was a nice experience, but the food just missed the mark for me. --- --- --- I'm pretty sure I discovered Ploughman's a while back on some kind of "Best sandwiches in Houston" list. Ever since then, I've been meaning to check it out and finally had the opportunity recently. Up in my neck of the woods, we have Tony's Italian Deli, which makes the greatest meatball sub I've ever tasted, and ever will taste. Because of that, I almost always avoid ordering a meatball sub - why even try when I know it's not going to be as good at Tony's? Well, in this case, the photos of this sub looked amazing, so I couldn't pass it up. Even if it was a step down from Tony's, it was probably going to be pretty enjoyable, right? It came out, and looked just as appetizing as it did in the pictures. Then I dug in... and... I was so sad. The meatballs were truly flavorless. Had I eaten this blindfolded, I would have had no idea what it was. I hate giving a small, local business such negative feedback, but I was shocked at how bland this was. The pasta salad was better, but was also on the bland side. We also ordered a Prawn Star, and while I wouldn't necessarily need to order this again, I did find it really interesting. They certainly get points for creativity with this sandwich, which has shrimp, bacon and apples. I ordered a side of pumpkin bisque soup and my only note is that it could have been a bit warmer, but I enjoyed it. Dessert wise, we went with a chocolate chip cookie and a slice bourbon chocolate pecan pie. Both were fine, in my eyes. My wife is the chocolate lover in the group and was a bigger fan of these than me. The guy working here couldn't have been more friendly, so I can't reiterate enough that I would have loved to have written a glowing review about this visit, but the meatball sub was just really rough. I was finally able to try their Prawn Star 2.0! I recall asking the staff when they were putting it back on the menu a few years ago, they stated that they were still sourcing their salted bread rolls but alas, it's back! It's composed of asian style pickled shrimp, apples and mayo on a toasted lobster roll. The shrimp were juicy and plump with a bright acidic kick. Ordered the specia.l Roast Turkey on toasted sour dough. Not a well thought out sandwich to be a "special". Flavor profile just wasn't there. Bread was sliced way to thick, seemed dried out opposed to toasted. Turkey had no flavor, sliced to thick and was dry. I had to open the sandwich to find the cream cheese, and the cranberry sauce. Overall it just didn't work. Pasta Salad side was good. Friend Ordered the Roast beef sandwich with the potato bacon soup...was great. Just my bad luck I guess. Place was clean, bathrooms clean. Unfortunately it didn't feel comfortable, not a good vibe. The person at the counter said all the right things but didn't come off as genuine to me, and we were asked to add the sugar to our tea at the table not the counter and told to only sit at the bar or table for 2....there was only one person inside when we went to sit down. There's nerdy: Dr. Who, Star Trek, LOTR, Star Wars, and it all just fits so well together and I live around this area and never heard or knew of it. The food looks amazing as I sat with a brew ($8 pour for 10% Double IPA is really awesome), big portions, yummy section and Soup du Jour looked yummy but I did not order it. I ordered the meatball sub because it looked really yummy in pictures on Yelp and Apple Maps, but man I'm gonna dig in and I know I'm gonna love it. Prices are great and the vibe is great. Cute sandwich shop with a wall full of Star Wars figurines! I like how small and quaint it is. I was excited to try after my colleague recommended it to me. I live near the area, so traveling here was not an issue. You order at a counter. The cashier was helpful and gave me recommendations for the side because I knew I wanted a Reuben, but here? It's called the Brewben. He was patient and courteous. I ordered the Brewben with the side of potato salad!. It was DELICIOUS!!!!!!!! I love the bread in the sammich. Very yummy and filling. I regret to inform potential customers to say that my wife's recent visit to Ploughman's Deli & Cafe left much to be desired. The lackluster customer service made her experience far from satisfactory, thanks to the staff named Mirna. Firstly, upon entering, my wife was met with indifference from Mirna. It seemed as though Mirna were more interested in not being there, than attending to customers. Mirna cut my wife off each time she had a question about her different sandwich options paired with a consistent attitude. You would think Mirna was inundated with hundreds of customers at one time for the way she treated my wife. When my wife finally managed to place her order, for the build your own sandwich option, she went back and asked if it was ok to change her bread to wheat. My wife said it's ok if they already started on her order but if they didn't could they please change the bread. Mirna responded "I already put in the order I can't do anything about to It... the orders in" with an obvious attitude. My wife just said okay. As for the food, it was fairly good,. I got a chance to try it from my wife. It was the turkey sandwich on Sourdough bread which was flavorful and fresh as you would hope to expect at a good deli. Additionally, the presentation of the sandwich was well, giving the impression that a certain level of care was put into preparing it. Overall, my wife left feeling dissatisfied and highly unlikely to return based on customer service alone. My mother in law was the one who recommended this place and was very disappointed this happened as well. Experience with Nikki Store Manager/ Owner 1st side note: My mother n law called first and spoke to Mirna to ask for the owners contact information about my wife's reaction. Mirna was dismissive over the phone said that she refused to give the name of the manager. My mother n law thinking this is absurd, stopped talking to Mirna who didn't want to give any information. My mother in law called back a second time and spoke to another employee who stated that they could give the manager Nikki her contact information to call her back. (Why wouldn't Mirna not want to give the contact information of Nikki?) Nikki called my mother n law back and said that she could give her information to my wife for they can further discuss. 2nd Side note: My wife contacted the store manager/owner Nikki the day after. Nikki was highly dismissive and ask my wife "what she wanted" and had zero solutions for my wife's poor customer service experience she had. She asked my wife what she wanted to do instead of her providing a solution. Nikki stated that Mirna contacted Nikki the day before to "warn" her that she had a "bad" interaction with a guest. Another side note: I physically called Nikki myself due to this bad customer service experience on behalf of my wife and when I called it was the same experience. Nikki had mentioned that she was going on vacation and planned to talk to Mirna about the situation after she came back (mind you 2-3 days had already gone by). She was purely passive and uninterested about what happened. You would think a store manager/owner would try try to rectify the situation and provide a solution for the customer vs the other way around when a customer has a bad experience. Instead, Nikki was looking at us to provide a solution, which is distasteful. To me calling the store manager shows you're proactive about finding a solution. Nikki left us feeling unheard and undervalued as a customer. In my opinion, in any Food establishment, before you try the food you get a "taste" of the customer service that sets the tone for your overall experience. My wife left feeling dissatisfied. My mother in law who infact was a long time customer was the one who recommended this place and was very disappointed over this ordeal to the point that she will not be back. I cannot recommend Ploughman's Deli & Cafe based on my wife's disappointing customer service encounter and interactions with the store manager/owner Nikki. This lack of accountability on Nikki & Mirnas part definitely eroded our trust in Ploughmans Deli and deterred all future patronage from us. To sum it all up, my wife went here with our newborn son, with the expectation of finally getting to eat her first deli sandwich post pregnancy that she dreamed of eating. Sadly, Ploughmans Deli is won't be the place where this occurs. read more

Roll the Hard Six is always a good choice if you want a hearty but not heavy sandwich since there's a lot of tender roast beef and crisp veggies. I try the ginger slaw every few years because it's so sharp tasting. This time around, I liked it more because there was enough fat from the slaw or the sunflower seeds to offset the zing. read more

We came here on a whim because we were in the area. We got the Reuben and the ploughman platter. We thought it was kind of on the pricier side however the portions were big and definitely worth it. The Ruben was nicely toasted and not too salty. One of the best we've had in Texas, delicious. The ploughmans platter would be a great appetizer to share with someone or to pick up for a party. This cute little deli features delicious sandwiches and sweets. The menu is pretty straightforward with not many wild menu items like some other places. You can either make your own or choose from their specialty sandwich section. I went with "roll the hard six" which is a ciabatta bread filled with rare roast beef, house made honey mustard, lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, sprouts, jalapeños, a drizzle of red wine vinaigrette, oregano, and salt/pepper. I added a slice of american cheese, mayonnaise and no jalapeños. This was the best damn sandwich that I've ever had. Everything paired so well together and I literally finished it in 6 minutes. It came with one side so I went with their pesto pasta which tasted great as well. It was flavored and creamy. Lots of people in my party went with the meatball sub and let me tell you... it's HUGE! the meatball was juicy and packed with flavor. Marinara sauce wasn't bland and had a great kick of spice. This is definitely a deli that I would come back to. Whether or not you're a Star Wars fan, this deli is the place for you. My husband and I had heard great things and on a cloudy day over winter break we went to grab lunch to-go. The deli is decorated with tons of Star award memorabilia and sci-fi fan fare items. My husband loved looking around to find the hidden treasures. While I'm not into sci-fi, I also enjoyed searching the space while waiting for our food. The staff was very friendly and helpful with menu questions. We brought the food home and it was delicious. My husband ordered the Brewben which is pretty much a Reuben with a beer added into the price. He did not get the beer, so it was $13. With the beer it would have been $16. He said it was awesome. I built my own Turkey sandwich with my desired toppings and it was really good. The Turkey tasted fresh and was real - not processed lunch meat.
