Build your own turkey sandwich on sourdough
    Q G.

Let me first start that I would have given it 5 stars if the total bill wasn't $46 for two sandwiches, chips, 1 cookie and a small cup of soup. We are still trying to figure out how it got to that point. Very pricy place, but hey I guess you are paying for the vibes and the neighborhood. Other than that the sandwiches were absolutely delicious, VERY fresh ingredients REAL protein!! This isn't your Hillshire Farms sliced deli meat folks! They don't skimp on the toppings that you could choose (maybe that's what racked up my bill). Definitely check them out if you want to splurge!

    The Hippie

I decided to stop at this restaurant to support local business and avoid fast food restaurants. Going in, the ambiance was relaxed. I ordered at the front and ordered their special, "The Hippie," and ordered a side of potato soup with bacon. The service was great The seating was limited, but there was outside searing. The sandwich was delicious, it tasted like thanksgiving in between the bread. The soup was creamy and yummy !! I would come back during the cold months to have some more soups. (Special note: I LOVED THE STAR WARS DECOR !!)

    Meatball Sub
    Brett N.

Why 3 stars? Because it was a nice experience, but the food just missed the mark for me. --- --- --- I'm pretty sure I discovered Ploughman's a while back on some kind of "Best sandwiches in Houston" list. Ever since then, I've been meaning to check it out and finally had the opportunity recently. Up in my neck of the woods, we have Tony's Italian Deli, which makes the greatest meatball sub I've ever tasted, and ever will taste. Because of that, I almost always avoid ordering a meatball sub - why even try when I know it's not going to be as good at Tony's? Well, in this case, the photos of this sub looked amazing, so I couldn't pass it up. Even if it was a step down from Tony's, it was probably going to be pretty enjoyable, right? It came out, and looked just as appetizing as it did in the pictures. Then I dug in... and... I was so sad. The meatballs were truly flavorless. Had I eaten this blindfolded, I would have had no idea what it was. I hate giving a small, local business such negative feedback, but I was shocked at how bland this was. The pasta salad was better, but was also on the bland side. We also ordered a Prawn Star, and while I wouldn't necessarily need to order this again, I did find it really interesting. They certainly get points for creativity with this sandwich, which has shrimp, bacon and apples. I ordered a side of pumpkin bisque soup and my only note is that it could have been a bit warmer, but I enjoyed it. Dessert wise, we went with a chocolate chip cookie and a slice bourbon chocolate pecan pie. Both were fine, in my eyes. My wife is the chocolate lover in the group and was a bigger fan of these than me. The guy working here couldn't have been more friendly, so I can't reiterate enough that I would have loved to have written a glowing review about this visit, but the meatball sub was just really rough. I read other reviews raving about it and have to think there's a decent chance they could have messed mine up and I caught them on a bad day.

    Prawn Star 2.0
    Lynn L.

I was finally able to try their Prawn Star 2.0! I recall asking the staff when they were putting it back on the menu a few years ago, they stated that they were still sourcing their salted bread rolls but alas, it's back! It's composed of asian style pickled shrimp, apples and mayo on a toasted lobster roll. The shrimp were juicy and plump with a bright acidic kick. The apples complemented the acidity, the toasted bun was buttery and light. I also had side if cream if artichoke soup, very comforting.

    Roast Turkey (special)
    Donald P.

Ordered the specia.l Roast Turkey on toasted sour dough. Not a well thought out sandwich to be a "special". Flavor profile just wasn't there. Bread was sliced way to thick, seemed dried out opposed to toasted. Turkey had no flavor, sliced to thick and was dry. I had to open the sandwich to find the cream cheese, and the cranberry sauce. Overall it just didn't work. Pasta Salad side was good. Friend Ordered the Roast beef sandwich with the potato bacon soup...was great. Just my bad luck I guess. Place was clean, bathrooms clean. Unfortunately it didn't feel comfortable, not a good vibe. The person at the counter said all the right things but didn't come off as genuine to me, and we were asked to add the sugar to our tea at the table not the counter and told to only sit at the bar or table for 2....there was only one person inside when we went to sit down. Not sure i would go back. Probably not.

    Chicken salad on crossiant
    Alexis C.

First off ambience - this place is super tiny but packs a punch of personality. Star Wars art galore! Second, these sandwiches are massive. I was in a rather demure mood so I got the chicken salad on croissant. Overall it was ok chicken salad...great croissant. My husband got your take on a Reuben and devoured a good portion of it. Also the pasta salad better than the potato salad. Last, service was fast and helpful. So it wasn't a knock it out of the park sandwich, but overall a good experience. Would recommend you check it out.

I love the ambiance coming into this place. There's a lot to love about this place once you enter it. There's nerdy: Dr. Who, Star Trek, LOTR, Star Wars, and it all just fits so well together and I live around this area and never heard or knew of it. The service was great and they were very friendly and nice when I came in. The food looks amazing as I sat with a brew ($8 pour for 10% Double IPA is really awesome), big portions, yummy section and Soup du Jour looked yummy but I did not order it. I ordered the meatball sub because it looked really yummy in pictures on Yelp and Apple Maps, but man I'm gonna dig in and I know I'm gonna love it. Prices are great and the vibe is great. I recommend this hole in the wall spot, it's not popping but it's really cool when you get here and give it a try. I'm definitely gonna come back and try more again and again with my Fiancée! She would love it! 5/5! I love Houston!

    Potato Salad
    La'Trevia H.

Cute sandwich shop with a wall full of Star Wars figurines! I like how small and quaint it is. I was excited to try after my colleague recommended it to me. I live near the area, so traveling here was not an issue. You order at a counter. The cashier was helpful and gave me recommendations for the side because I knew I wanted a Reuben, but here? It's called the Brewben. He was patient and courteous. I ordered the Brewben with the side of potato salad!. It was DELICIOUS!!!!!!!! I love the bread in the sammich. Very yummy and filling. I couldn't eat both pieces which is always nice to have leftovers LOL. I will be back to try other things too.

    Ginger slaw
    Michelle O.

Roll the Hard Six is always a good choice if you want a hearty but not heavy sandwich since there's a lot of tender roast beef and crisp veggies. I try the ginger slaw every few years because it's so sharp tasting. This time around, I liked it more because there was enough fat from the slaw or the sunflower seeds to offset the zing.

    Vik P.

Yes and Yes and Yes and Yes and an itty, bitty tiny no. Loved this place, food and Star Wars decor on point. Sad its taking me so long to try. So many soup/sandwich days gone that I can't get back. Small menu and venue, but quaint and easy to talk to people here. Came with a few friends and all orders were praised highly. Monday special grill cheese with a nice warm cup of tomato basil soup, YES. Meatball sub with a side of pesto salad, YES. Brewben with a Beer and a side of pesto salad, YES. Service and friendly patrons, YES. The spicy ginger slaw....the itty bitty tiny no. Though I heard it was popular, but none of us were fans. Need to stop by on a Wednesday for ppls choice sandwich, the Philly...everyone said it was there favorite.

    The Reuben.
    Jeffrey K.

The Reuben is our go-to. It's always fantastic. I always think that I can make it then I remember how long it takes to prepare and how quick and simple it is for me to just order the perfect sandwich here. Highly recommend, and perfect to split. We also get the grilled cheese for the kids and it's spot on - buttery crust with lots of cheese.

The doctor's office actually recommended this cafe the last time that I came to see them. My initial impression was great. They have very comfortable chairs and large tables for people to do whatever they need to get done. I sat down with the matcha latte that came with their authentic house honey matcha. I was handed an actual ceramic coffee mug, not some paper cup that they chain coffee stores give you. I killed some time and it was a decent experience without the crazy crowds of customers and super loud music that always gets on my nerves. The matcha was made with care and I liked the nice and easy going relaxed vibe here.

My beloved Boomtown RIP…read more This pains me to write. Different is certainly not always better, especially when what you had was already working. I much prefer the saying if it ain't broke don't fix it. To the people who bought this place, I know your motto is "different is better," but please stop taking that so literally. You do not have to change every aspect of this place to make it different. The best thing about getting your everyday local coffee is seeing the same baristas you've seen over and over again, familiar faces who know you by name. This was one of those places where I'd hate to admit how much money I've spent here, and I did it happily. In just three weeks, our beloved spot, one I would willingly drive out of my way for, has gone so far downhill that I barely recognize it. From the eyesore taco warmer that practically knocks you in the face while you're ordering, replacing a space that once showcased lovely things like fresh flowers and local trinkets, to the disappearance of the wonderful local treats from Sinfull Bakery that kids genuinely enjoyed. At first I thought maybe you were just out, but after three weeks it became clear that expenses were being cut across the board and those items may never come back. And where do I even begin. The new oat milk is terrible. It completely changes the look and taste of the coffee and is immediately noticeable. I won't harp on the change of hours or the change in flavor of your coffee beans, but I feel it must be mentioned because, well, it's noticeable. And now the cleanliness. Spilled taco sauce all over the floor, and when your kid points it out, you know you're in trouble at that point. Dishes piled so high they're overflowing, dirty restrooms. And to be clear, this isn't the staff's fault, there is simply not enough staff to keep up with these things. Never ever in seven years of being a frequent visitor has it been this bad. I also noticed the new coffee packaging, and it's just another reminder that the heart and thoughtfulness that once defined this place are gone. At this rate I half expect robots handing me my latte in a few weeks so you can save a few more bucks. And getting rid of Toast. Even if Toast was an expensive platform to use, it was legitimately so convenient. And dang, if you're going to do away with it, don't replace it with the worst possible ordering system ever, one that doesn't even work. Do you know how many orders I wouldn't have placed if it weren't for Toast? Toast made those orders possible when I didn't have time to wait. Without it, I simply wouldn't have ordered. I understand times are tough for many businesses, but you all were booming. The new online ordering system doesn't work. You may as well do away with it altogether because this one just isn't it. Honestly, I am devastated. You knocked it out of the park in every area, cleanliness, service, food. I never had a single bad item on the menu. The coffee was beyond. When my family moved out of the city a year and a half ago, I still drove 35 minutes one way just to get your food and coffee, over an hour round trip again and again. I don't think you understand how this new direction has driven this place into the ground in a matter of three weeks. Sadly all good things must come to an end.

It's been several dozen visits at this point and it has slowly become one of my most frequented stops for a caffeinated drink and some much needed WiFi time (#1). It may not look like much from the outside, but it has a lot to offer in this sleepy part of the greater Heights / Lazybrook. It essentially has everything I want in a cafe: friendly service, abundance of space, solid array of drinks, fairly fast Wi-Fi, and incredibly easy parking. The place is so enormous that they have multiple bathrooms, endless seats, and dedicated spaces for quiet time and or meetings. There is seating for groups, lounge seating with the couches, board games galore, and even an IG worthy corner throne seat for photo-ops. It's a place where much of my remote work needs are easily met. Most coffee aficionados won't be impressed with their selection, but for the average sipper what they have to offer is sufficient. If it's not a half-sweet ice latte, it's a cold brew for yours truly. They tend to go a bit heavy on the ice and flavoring (especially with the frapps), but I always tell the staff to go easy with it. Their friendliest barista is Bri, who is always smiling and goes above and beyond to make sure folks are having a good time. The prices are in the $3-6 range for every drink, which seems standard nowadays. Ultimately this is a very laid back place to get some work / studying done with a drink or two.
