We love the Lazy R cottages and have been staying here since the 90's. The cabins are conveniently located with a store, laundry mat and liquor store just across the street. There are other businesses and restaurants nearby too. Downtown Estes is not far either. Check in was easy and convenient. The cabins are well kept and very clean. The beds are comfortable and the towels and lines are nice and plush. If you have a cabin with a hot tub, you get plenty of towels for those dips in the hot tub. We stay in Cabin 15 or the other one just like it (can't remember the cabin #). My only issue and its not a big one, is that the cabin isn't really conducive to just hanging out in because there is really a lack of seating in the livingroom if you have a few people staying. The living room has a couch with a sofa sleeper so its not really comfortable to sit on and can seat 3 people. There is a chair with a pull out bed in it that is also not too comfortable and then there's a cute wood chair that's heavy and uncomfortable. The living room could use at least one more chair that isn't a wood chair. read more

We just got home from our Colorado trip where we spent four nights in Cabin 2 at Lazy R. The location is great- on the main road right between Estes Park and an entrance to RMNP. The cabin was clean and well stocked for a rental cabin. Nicely stocked kitchen supplies (pots/pans, utensils, etc). They supplied coffee with sugar and creamers (though we brought our own), towels, TP, paper towels, shampoo, etc. Though they don't provide maid service they had a very easy system to use to order additional TP, towels, coffee, etc. I was really impressed with how well supplied it was. No AC, but the cabin cooled off in the evening with the windows open and we slept great! Cabin 2 has a covered porch that we spent almost all our cabin time on. When we weren't out and about, we were on the porch. The cabin sleeps 5, but it would be tight. For the 2 of us, it was plenty of room. Really enjoyed our stay and would definitely rent at Lazy R again if we return to Estes Park. read more

I'm currently in one of the cabins as I type this out. It's 10 pm, I get inside and the refrigerator was turned off, it wasn't cold, and the ice from the trays melted and the kitchen area was flooded. I used most of my towels trying to clean up the mess. Two calls to the maintenance team, and the gentleman finally shows up. Nicest man. He turned the refrigerator back on, cleaned up even more water on the floor that I missed, and even ran to Safeway to get me a bag of ice. I really appreciated him going to Safeway, but it took 20 minutes to get back. Mind you, there is a cabinet for ice at a store across the street, and I thought I saw a cabinet for ice by the office. I don't know why he couldn't have got ice from one of those two places, unless there actually isn't any ice on them. And while waiting for him to return, I noticed the curtains don't completely cover the windows. The curtains actually look like shower curtains, and are about one to two inches short of covering the windows. There is a dangerously bent end cap to the radiator right as you walk into the bathroom where a guest can seriously injure themselves if they aren't being careful. And there is frayed carpet, which is a tripping hazard. So, now I'm down quite a few towels and can't get new ones because the office is closed until 9 am tomorrow, I'll have to keep lights on in the bathroom to remind me not to walk to close to the sharp metal, and I'll have to put yet another towel on the ground over the frayed carpet so I don't trip. I'm here with a family reunion, and there are numerous toddlers with us. Part of the draw for these cabins was the play area that is advertised on their website. We get here and there isn't any play area. Not cool Lazy R to have misleading advertising. All in all, I'm very disappointed. read more

My husband and visited Estes Park with a friend and rented the Eagles Nest cabin. We loved it! The cabin is cozy but offers enough space for three. We scheduled showers etc... so never really ran into any issues. I loved how the fireplace was connected to a thermostat so the temperature was always comfortable. Kitchen was decent size and made it easy to make meals. I'm a cookware snob so I brought my own from home. Glad I did since the pots and pans that were provided may have made it difficult to prepare my menu. I was sad when our vacation ended!! I can't wait to book this cabin again next vacation. The location of Lazy R is great! Gas station, grocery store and liquor store are across the street. The entrance to Rocky Mountain is right down the road as is downtown Estes Park. Make sure you stop by the Donut Haus when you head into town for some shopping. Their donuts are on point!! read more

My family of four stayed here last week, while visiting the RMNP. We couldn't have been more pleased. We stayed in the Mountain Pine cabin. It was spotless. The staff was amazing. The proximity to everything we needed and wanted could not have been more spot on. Check in was effortless, and the staff offered the children fresh fruit when we arrived (perfect after a 3 hour flight and 1 hour drive) as well as their choice of DVD and board game to take back to the cabin. Firewood was available at a reasonable price. Our cabin was off-site....but that didn't stop the elk from grazing in our front yard! The view of the stars from our hottub was perfection. Did I mention the property was spotless???? The beds were comftorable and we were stocked with extra clean towels. You cannot go wrong here. Book it! You wont regret it. Enjoy!!! read more

Had I not stayed here using the winter special of "stay two nights, get the third night free," I would probably be furious. Overall, the cabin is "ok." It's pretty clean, but there's a rug that looks like it hasn't seen a vacuum cleaner in at least two decades. At least the faucets and other bathroom surfaces are new and clean, I guess. My biggest complaint is probably the lack of space. Now, I knew when I booked this particular cabin (RRR7) that it was small. In fact, I think it might be the smallest cabin they have. However, they furnished a ~250 sqft cabin as though it's a 900 sqft suite. There is a gigantic log table and chair set in the middle of the room that is impossible to move around... and there is absolutely no place to leave luggage unless you like risking broken bones when you trip over it. Another thing... they're just not maintained very well. Random broken blinds, one nasty blind set that's noticeably different than the others (and way too small for the window), and again that disgusting rug... All of these things could be easily fixed at very minimal cost. For example, a vacuum!!! I didn't even feel comfortable letting my dog walk on that rug. Oh, and speaking of dogs, good luck fitting a kennel (as is required if leaving dogs unattended). Thankfully, our dog is small. Don't plan on staying here if your dog is over 20 pounds. Overall, I wouldn't necessarily say I hated my stay, but I'm really only consoling myself with that free night. If it weren't for that, this would be a one star. I won't be staying here again. This is our first stay at Lazy R. This was the last place available that would allow our service dog in the cabin at a short notice... Now, I understand this isn't a 5 or even a 4 star inn, but we paid more than the average rate for our duplex "cabin". $15/per night for pets (even service dogs). We paid $526.74 after taxes for 2 nights in cabin 7A. It's about the size of an average 2 bedroom apartment, and it has it's pluses...but definitely not worth 1/2 of our mortgage payment. Pros: -great location, if you like being near to downtown. -decent view (see pictures), however doesn't every place in Estes Park have a great view?! -free fruit and dog treats and video rentals from the office -private deck with table -updated dishwasher for you to wash your own dishes with (or get charged for not doing them) -all needed dishes/appliances are here, including grill -clean, living space did not smell like a "pet friendly" cabin unlike our experience elsewhere at Estes. Cons: -wretched wifi connection -very minimal upkeep of the property (see pictures). Things that would take less than 5 minutes to fix aren't, and the temporary fixes that have been done are tacky to say it kindly -we have 3 potentially broken down golf carts parked beside our cabin -all cabins very close in proximity to each other -the decor... Bleh....Meh. (Everything extremely tacky, including having an old tube TV at the end of the kitchen counter vs above the fireplace... Or whatever At this point, all the cons are things they could easily fix, not the actual property. The management has been helpful (though we haven't checked out yet). If they were to fix the cons, or had a better "you get what you pay for" value, we'd be back. But currently, I think the next time we come we'll try another place. read more

People were very nice and helpful. Several of us had come down with a cold over the holidays and they were willing to push back our reservation one day to help us out. They provided free snowshoes and movies to check out for free from the office. We had a light burn out when we arrived and a maintenance man came over right away to fix it. So I give it 4+ stars for people. The cabin was very clean and was able to get very warm without a fireplace. We were told the cabin sleeps 4 with 2 bedrooms however there are only three chairs at the dining room table. The cabin was tiny. There's a chandelier that I bumped into 5 times on the first day in a main pathway in thr common room that's only 5' 8" high, I'm 6' 5". There's no room for storage of suitcases without tripping over them getting out of bed. To give you an idea of how small this place is there are two bedrooms that queen beds barely fit into, there is a common room between the two bedrooms that has a love seats a dining table with three chairs a television and a microwave. This place looks like it's been built piece by piece and none of the pieces fit together very well. The entryway has the refrigerator in it and can't really be used to store much. The kitchen is tiny with with only enough room for the stove and the sink requiring the microwave to be in the common room and the refrigerator to be in the entryway. The bathroom is so small you can't sit on the toilet straight. There's no room for storage of shaving kits or any toiletries. If it was summer time we might take advantage of the propane BBQ but that's not happening in December with temperatures approaching zero. Pets are allowed, but there's no room to store kennels if you need to go somewhere. Other cabins might be different, but looking at the cottages that Lazy R lazy manages for RRR cottages, they all look tiny. The cottage I'm describing is RRR5, and it is not as advertised on the website. Beware! I'm attaching a couple photos from the cottage so you get an idea of the size. read more

We stayed in the Monte Verde cabin. I rated this 5 stars not because this is a 5 star resort, but because it met and exceeded my expectations. This is an older cabin that has been added on to, it has some wear and tear marks, but was very clean. We were here for a wedding so had some down time at cabin. It was like being at home and not in a motel room. Very well stocked Kitchen and lines/towels. Had a hot tub that was great. 3 bedrooms, large master w/bath, looks like the other bedroom was divided in half, you have to go thru or around(outside access) to the other bedroom, but was not a problem. You'll get the rustic and cozy experience, but it is really not worth the price. Paid $156 for a small studio cabin with a tiny bathroom that was difficult to move around in without knocking something over. The bed was large, but it felt like it's been a while since they rotated the mattress because it had a noticeable depression in the center. The pillows were also very flat. The people who run the business were very nice and they had a collection of movies to peruse and watch anytime as well as free popcorn. read more

We went to Estes Park for my 60 th Birthday. We stayed in a one bedroom really cute little cottage up the hill from the entrance to the RMNP. It was clean and super nice. Even though it was right on a main st It was quiet in the evenings. We had Elk in our yard along with a coyote, mule deer and rabbits. It was a dream come true vacation. Being so close to the Park was a plus!! Our place was called Stagecoach Stop. I would definitely stay there again. read more

This is our second time staying here and we really enjoy it. The cabins are very comfortable. They have options with hot tubs, fireplaces, and full kitchens. The cabins are located very close to downtown Estes and to the entrance to RMNP. There are a few different groups of cabins. Some are a bit more secluded while others are right off the road. Make sure to double check where the cabins are located so you aren't surprised either way. read more

Lazy R Cottages was "Terrible".We stayed in Cabin 9 .The internet said the cabin was in the back but relay it was right smack in the front When we got there we thought the 9 was 6, when it was really a big lie. The people at the front were very hard to get though to.The people kept saying to us the noise will go away .It did not.It did not advertisise that the cabin was two rooms it said it was three rooms the third room was in the living room the coaches turned out to be old crusty coaches that were not soft but hard.we wereright next to the Street we were right in front of a gas station and a supermarket not quiet like advertised big gap between the wood and the dining room floor,Tripped 3 times.The workers pertended to not speak English and when they are talking to other people they spoke better English then I do.The workers are always loud.The people offered us free stuff and when we took them up on the offer then they wanted us to pay tax... "My advise is to never stay there ever" "Your anamal would not even want to stay there.My mother was getting in the shower and when she did she slipped and almost broke her hip"The soap they offered was to oily.If you do stay bring your own soap. Perfect cabin for our family vacation with our toddler and dog! Cabin #3 had a great view, hot tub on the deck , separate room with livingroom and kitchen! The front desk was extremley accommodating! Me and my wife had an amazing stay in their Mountain View (#3) cabin for our honeymoon. The property was very quiet, even though we were informed that there were 20 other guests there for the entire week. The staff was very kind and helped us find things to do in town and were very knowledgeable. The hot tub was a very welcome feature after doing a lot of hiking and the kitchen was very well stocked with dishes and cookware. All in all, a great and homey stay. read more

First let me tell you who ever owns this has 5 or 6 other properties located in Estes Park. My family and I rented 2 Cottages or Cabins for us to stay in from July the 25th to July the 28th 2017. Initially it seemed like we had made the right choice for our stay. However, the problem began when the 2 story Cabin had a very, very, bad Gas Smell. I contacted the office and was first told that all Gas Valves had some type of pressure release to get rid of gas and they would call the Gas Company. Not soon after that I got a call from the Front Desk and was told to Vacate the premises because of the safety concerns. Which makes sense. They had a place 1/2 mile down the road to accommodate the 10 grandchildren and 6 Adults staying there. Don't know if your aware of how much groceries and all the other stuff associated with that amount of people that needs to be packed, unloaded, & then loaded into the cabinets, bedrooms, bathrooms, & kitchen. It is a lot!!! What the person at the desk did not tell us was that the other place was only open for one day and then they would see if we could come back to the original Cabin or not. I had the unfortunate duty of discussing how this was a Terrible inconvenience with us and how was they going to make this right. Eventually, they provided a $200.00 refund which by no way in my mind made things RIGHT. My suggestion to all who decide to spend some time in Estes Park and you find one of these properties check it out in person before you spend time and energy in renting a place. The communication between the front desk folks and the "Management" is atrocious. read more
